Better yet...just go with the 5 best options as your starters...regardless of Birth certificate...kinda like what other teams do and adjust a ratio accordingly.... Playing unneeded inferior Canadians just because when you don't have to makes no sense and nobody else seems to want to do that, and if there is a team playing 8 true ones..maybe 9...They are the best option. That also goes with Imports...Play your best maximum allowed and build the roster and ratio accordingly...Know your assets...weaknesses...and make the moves in FA and drafting and recruiting to play to it. Based on our roster and 12 games in now...It's pretty clear our best unit moving forward if all are healthy would be a Pokey, White, Singer, Demski, Clercius starting 5 with Neild as the main backup/rotation guy, Cobb as depth as he can be muti-faceted. I wouldn't even be dressing Daniels currently as Clercius...MCI and Eli can handle the TE heavy set stuff..They did before. I'd even go a step further and dump the Elsbury experiment and just run with Eli and with 3 Cdn interior guys...Demski and BO add Womack for Elsbury and integrate him if for anything to see what he has, We can easily do that ratio wise with only 2 Canadians needed and declared on defense as National starters....and could freely swap out Kelly from safety or even just replace him totally and he goes back to teams and backup We have a import spot to fill for Saturday with Woodbey down and out, now what we do with it will show how dense Osh truly is....There are several options we could actually add to roster that will have use outside of teams in place of the most likely Hazen addition...You could add Womack..Jaworski..Jenkins...all guy who could come in in a rotational way, and actually be actual back up to a starter if need be. Plus allows us to actually see them in a real game and if they are even worth being here

Sask basically beat us on a fluke play by Harris to the RB where our D over played Harris and Woodbey's gaffe tackle. That's 10 free points right there. One TD drive on the board by Sask if we make those plays.

  4. I think it's the smart play. Have Riders on their heels a bit. Really tough conditions with having to go silent. Also don't see the need to play D first in OT when we get the choice. I get the orthodoxy in that choice, IF all things are equal BUT Rider D was just out there. Killed any positive momentum you had with O. Put a TD on the board and let your D win it. We have barely used a DI on O the past couple seasons. I think it's quite reasonable to do so, especially when we are lacking in playmakers significantly. What would be really insane is if we continue to use a DI on Castillo if the field changes happen. Placekicking is going to become far less important. Grab someone like Brady Lidster and play to score TD's.
  5. Where are you getting 68% from? Looking at the 2026 media guide which has team standings year by year 0-1-1 (2000) (Mini-games from the 35, up to 2 per team) 0-0 (2001) 2-0 (2002) 0-0 (2003) 0-0 (2004) 0-0 (2005) 0-0 (2006) 0-0-1 (2007) 0-0 (2008) 0-0 (2009) 1-1 (2010) (Mini-games, forced 2 point converts) 0-0 (2011) 0-0 (2012) 0-1 (2013) 0-0 (2014) 0-0 (2015) 0-0 (2016) 2-0 (2017) 1-0 (2018) 0-0 (2019) 0-0 (2021) ... but this doesn't count the grey cup 0-1 (2022) 1`-2 (2023) 0-2 (2024) 0-0 (2025) By my count that is 7 wins, 8 losses and 2 ties in the regular season coming into 2026, so 8-8 with the Grey Cup counting, and then 1-0 this year heading into the LDC so we'll call it 9-8 which would be 52% (if you ignore ties)... but 3-5 since COVID which is 37.5%

He sure did. Dude can find the ball carrier. Not sure he’s a guy that can track a RB or receiver in pass coverage, but none of our LBs have exactly excelled at that.

U would think Ayers would anyway..not some less than spectacular/special rookie When Ayers came in after the woodbey injury and played more a role suited to him..instead of out of position DE he actually made several noticeable plays...imagine that

it's kind of amazing that a rookie receiver comes in, goes 5-62-1 TD... and we're genuinely not sure if he'll start the next game...

Yeah but that makes too much sense.... Here's how I look at it, sports and real jobs share a lot of similarity in leadership. The coaches job is to make sure the players are given what they need to succeed. That means preparing them properly, using their talents in the best way possible... I will compare it to my workplace... 2 years ago we had experienced field people, they didn't need much management, it was here's the job and they knew how to do it. Now with some departures there's less experience so more hands on management is required. Extra preparation, more thought about ok can this person actually do this or do I need to use someone else... I think this is where our coaches are falling short. I think they're still treating it like it's 2021 and Bighill and co. Are going to handle a lot of that themselves.

  12. The cover teams played really well without the extra ST linebacker. More proof that you don’t need to keep Singer off the roster for a guy like Hazen.

Yeah hes not option 5 per say..a good recieving group and schemed team also doesn't look at guys like that positionally. He's undoubtedly 5th best of the starters tho..and rarely gets looked to or involved because he won't really offer you anything and really doesn't make himself an option on any given play If he was getting himself open and free...or found himself behind coverage for a kill shot...or streaking free across middle on a slant a qb will find him. We as a team essentially scheme him out of the play by the insistance of playing a lesser player there..I agree he gives it his all..Is probably a great teammate..does all the right things...but that alone doesn't make the player...or justify the spot when you could use a better option Much like Thomas before he retired..checked the same boxes...except the key one Both are just 2 examples of a coaches choice trumping actual value to the team. Just look at our reciever numbers 1 thru 5...even the 6th guy when we actually had..and rostered talent and compare Cobbs numbers..what Corcoran had put up...and even Neilds...they aren't even close in comparison or value to the offence Therein lies a big part of the offensive woes

singer can just stay on in Hazens former spot...as he was last game...easy peasy
  15. If we had a Global DL that could play we could quite easily drop a Canadian on O and get Singer on the field every down. You'd have to drop the last Canadian LB.
  16. A system that relies on a whole bunch of guys making the same read is the very hardest to run. And that's what he wants to do. It stops feet and pulls all the aggression out of the players when they are always just trying to be in the right spot. And JY is so reliant on vets who are physically not as competitive anymore because they get it. So you see some busts on guys like Texada and Vaval who aren't out there much and you even see the veteran guys trying to assume what the QB read is but missing guys going vertical. There's no defense played in the entire world of football above crunchers where you are letting guys run vertical routes by themselves like we saw Duncan-Busby and Wiebe get a few times last week.
  17. Also "since 2000" is kind of an irrelevant time frame... this years team doesn't look like last years... nevermind what it looked like 25 years ago... IMO we saw in Ottawa that we might have a few decent 2 pt convert plays in the back pocket... I was in favour of going for two...

Singer would at least make the defenses have to match up with him. There is absolutely nothing Cobb does that is even a remote threat to score. He's not really a possession receiver. He's not a deep threat. He's there as a decoy. Cobb has to come out of the lineup. As Doug Brown said take Cobb out & figure out who replaces him. Singer has to play next game.

5th receiver ain't making a difference is such a disingenuous argument.... If you got a guy there who can make plays it forces the defense to account for them which should give the other guys more space. When you're trying to do receivers by committee why the **** handicap yourself with a backup level Canadian starting?
  22. Lets look at the roster deployment. We focus heavily on special teams, and our special teams have for the most part been great..... We also give Younger and the defence what appear to be all it wants, look at the depth, the rotation, the ratio he gets, then flip it to the offence..... It seems like the whole offence is almost an after thought, 3 CDN receivers, CDN RB Ike to back up, but he is really a special teamer.....one back up Oline in Eli, and another CDN receivers to back up all , with a CDN rookie TE, who is still wet behind the ears..... Now with a roster make up like this you would expect the specials to be great...and check mark, they are....but you should also expect your defence to be great....I mean if you allocate your resources so heavily into one faucet it should yield you big returns.....but our defence isn't yielding those big returns ....not equal to the allocation of assets anyway ... So what do we do, do we keep giving our specials everything they need, do we keep allocating what's left over almost exclusively to the defence.....or do we look at the offence and try to balance our portfolio better, and see if the losses from pulling a guy or two from specials and/or defence to get a guy like Singer on the roster....does adding a guy like Singer give you a net bigger return overall???? Sure seems like it does.....so the burning question is.....why didn't we try weeks ago....and will we try moving forward or does Singer get SAT again when we are healthy in favour of specials and defence.....yet again.....
  23. Yeah, not even close to 100%. He isn't in the late stages of Nichols, but he makes decisions as if he can still go crazy legs, and he can't. Elsbury is such a disappointment. He's a true rookie, so that is tough, but he shouldn't be starting at all. Its not easy, but you don't see imp interior OL that often either. This is as bad as our OL has played since the first year bob took over coaching it.
