  1. If Toronto is looking for a replacement I know a real up-and-coming offensive co-ordinator that might fit.

  2. Just rewatched the end of the game l because I am an idiiot. Around four and a half minutes left, down by 6. The D gets a huge stop. Vaval gets a decent return, helped by a penalty. Offense takes over at the 45 with just over 4 minutes to go. What do they do? Throw away under pressure with no receivers in the same zip code, and a two yard pass to Wheatfall. Punt. Fire Hogan.

  3. I'll be disappointed if Brady goes elsewhere.

  4. The past two years, Brady has been the engine of the offense and often the only reason it has had success. I'd hate to lose him because we keep Hogan or decide not to pay him. Especially when Zach needs to take a cut of at least $100,000, Willie is overpaid, Vaughters is overpaid, Kola and Thomas are deadweight.

  5. There were plenty of 1000 yrd runners. but only 1 lead the league in all purpose yards. Brady is more than just a runner. His ability out of the back field is just as good imo. Add in his ability to block and the only answer is to pay him. I also don't think this regime can afford to let another league leading all star player walk (like Lawler).

  6. All I'll say is this: where and how we've chosen to allocate our money is one of the reasons why we are in the situation we are right now.

  7. I don't think it'll come down to money. They can easily load him up with marketing money for all the work he does in the community and then the cap isn't even an issue.

  8. That's crazy. Brady's the heart & soul of this team. Someone is going to pay him $$$ to leave if we don't as he's in his prime. If he was 30 or 31, I'd agree but he's not. You want a 3-15 season? Then that's the way to do it.

  11. true...but part of that is also we had next to nothing else for most of the season...and heavily leaned on him....and slap a Butler or Mills in that same role here and the touches....same result Love BO....and all he offers...but if he looking for even more cash...plus what we already paying Demski...the dumb money ZC i sure is getting....I just dunno....mind you drop JT...KOLO...Kramdi and you just free'd up close to 500K....and you could replace kramdi and Thomas with already signed entry level Imports at half the cost...even Kolo...I'd love to see us use a import center The balance left from dropping those 3 useless Canadian salaries for better use and bang for yur buck players who are import pays for any bump BO would be looking for...Lock him up for 2 yrs...and groom the replacement ...we already have 2 inhouse....

  13. I can see O’Shea going back home, can also see ZC wanting to back out east, but Brady I don’t see it

  14. I imagine Walters will be gone soon. And I want to see O'Shea gone too. He's arrogant and stubborn. Terrible in-game management. Who would replace him? No idea ... hopefully not Jarious Jackson who sucks as HC. Why not take a shot at replacing Hogan with Collaros? It seems clear that he and Hogan did not get along. Who is more to blame for the sputtering 3 step drop no rollout offence? Take your pick. But it would be a mistake to let Collaros on the field as the starter again. So let's have competition at QB - develop the prospects - Wilson, Artopoeus and maybe Taylor Elgersma behind an off-season CFL journeyman like Taylor Powell who looks like a free agent in Hammy? If Oliveira wants to leave for the money, fine. I bet he stays. Especially if Bombers spend like hell this off-season on better FA vets, and younger prospects on both the O-line and D-line. Bombers looked especially weak in pass pro and discomboblulated run blocking. And we had no pressure on opposing QBs - all season long and going back to 2024. Success starts and ends in the trenches.

  17. if you read between the lines...aprt of what BO is saying about re-signing here is dependant on whats around him .....and he talking other offensive talent be it on the line....reciever and most importantly who is gonna create the offence.....and rightfully so What player on either side of the ball would wanna re-up here, let alone sign here fresh with the knowing they likely to be playing with...or behind garbage, and garbage coaching....I'll tell you....none...zero...careers are short enough as it is and the window to win even shorter which is the main goal of any player Guys who will tho...The JT's....Kolo's....the aged out guys with zero future who can still play a bit...but not at elite levels...and prob nowhere else, and offer zero upside...thats who...kinda what we have littered our roster with the last 3 ..4 yrs and the end results spoke for themselves....

  18. yes and no...He isnt as physical for sure....but he also hits line faster and has more explosive ability and likely would break longer runs at times....maybe home run hitter types...so 6 of this...half dozen of the other thing...But wouldn't wanna rely on him as a bell cow at this time....yet....A 2 headed deal tho with him and MCI could be workeable....as why they havnt been working him more and feeling out his b=value is been an utter waste Uber athletic...prob one of the most in league really and great body type for CFL...Especially if they can implement him into the passing game more...He could be like a James Wilder type back minus the ****** if we put in the effort and could see the forest thru the tree's with guys on the roster But nope...lets Pidgeon hole guys into roles and responsibilities that accentuate nothing about them or potential, and ride the "known" commodities until there's nothing left to ride...or we ride them into the dirt due to injury and then are scrambling with a lack of depth and trust in any backup guy.... nope...practice are a wasteland to prove anything...much less supplant a guy ahead of you...you have to use the ability to see and project talent/worth and roll with it....again...somethjing we dont do unless forced to cause a guy is literally in a body cast

  19. Why is the debate between who is the better option between Eli and Kolo? Probably Eli, but the real issue is our Oline needs a serious upgrade. Center, one tackle and one guard at least. Whether it's through free agency, draft, trade or scouting, we're going nowhere with the current state of the Oline.
    3 points
  20. Yeah didn't make sense for the Bombers to bring him in late either - that would have just burned a year off his rookie deal. Let him sit by a phone that's not ringing for now and try to get him here for a full season next year.
    3 points
  21. It could, but we need to make room to make significant additions to DL, OL, WR, and QB2. Which are the 4 most expensive positions. The club really need to shed a lot of dead weight this off season. I could see some one giving Wheatfall a nice deal to see if he can step up into a no1 role with their system.

  22. several on our roster are...but under Osh....many will never realize it playing here unless he shifts how he does things I'd be shocked if Woodbey doesn't get looks....he basically debunked some of the negatives NFL teams/scouts placed on him prior to his draft, so he could be following the Ayers path as well.... Smith could step into that role easily as well as WILL....or a role like Griffin held as well...freeing up a DA spot for another end or true NT...Griffin tho needs to be brought back...Shay as well I am sure could be a WILL candidate and good at it, but like to see him groomed at MAC. Bang for buck we can be better off without all 3 of those DB's truth be told, and able to focus funds elsewhere...No cfl team shoud have 2....let alone 3 giys in the secondary making 140k+....but getting Nichols back at a reduced price if possible...or the same is prob the best scenario of the 3....he is one the vet pieces you hold on to as he can ball still and is the best all around of the 3....

  23. If we are willing to move forward with the Canadians, I can see moving on from Ayers. Even though I love the way that guy plays and his talent level is exceptional. I don't think much of wheatfall, wilson and vaughters would be nice to move on from. But I don't think any of that will happen. we paid them and they performed modestly better, and mos is married to wilson. 225k was too much for demski, but then last year was his best year as a go to wr. and We have such a need at that position, he does soo much for our offence IDK how we move on from him. That would be ideal, but again I don't think that will happen unless Nichols leaves for greener pastures. Smith could play kramdis' role imo. But we could also use griffin or woodbey and slide smith into an even easier position if needed.

  24. oh I agree....similar money I am sure is the thing...what he looing for i think is competence in coaching...and an optimal roster to succeed....makes you think...If coach's and G.M brought back...is that his trigger to look elsewhere...I sure it is for others

  25. Great summary. If what happened the past year is allowed to continue we'll be a 4 or 5 win season real fast. We'll lose Brady if we don't fire Hogan.
    3 points
  26. I get the money thing but honestly to lose Brady potentially because Walters is overpaying Collaros would be frustrating. Zach at 450,000, fine. Zach at 600,000 not fine. I'd rather we get rid of Willie if they need to save money.

  27. sure wish we had done a semi competent job of developing mci in the two years we’ve had him, as a rb. Peterson is legit, he isn’t the pile pusher brady is, but if we polished mci he could be a real game changer with that break away speed. I love brady, both the player and the person. He turns 29 next season, and has essentially 1k carries. I’m sure he has 2 strong campaigns left in him, and he can likely be a strong useful player for many years after that. All that said, we paid him 240k a year on this deal. Betts got 266k. So i expect brady to look for a raise, maybe 255k range. I just wouldn’t pay elite dl money to brady. Or two top 5-8 dl in the cfl levels of money. Elite wr money. Especially not with Peterson and mci, who will already be on the roster. If you move on from schoen, wj, and brady, you clear up a massive amount of cash that you could use to fix the dl and wr core. I really wonder how long he will play. I wouldn’t be disappointed if he decided to call it a career after one more 2-3 year deal with a bunch of front loaded bonus cash. Last thing I want to see is what happened to strevy/schoen. And he’s been a serious battering ram.

  28. On the one hand - the team's problems this year, and Brady's usage might be a big factor. On the other hand, the dude has all sorts of balls in the air off the field. Wouldn't surprise me if he looked at Toronto or BC as a more convenient place for all of that stuff.

  33. Crazy indeed. I was just opining that we would offer him a similar role... I still can't believe the Argos messed up that badly. Their problems didn't occur because of Dinwiddie. Pinball kind a seems like a coach killer... I wonder if toronto makes the same offer to Mos, boy this off season could be real interesting. Right? They already have some of his old buddies too in Eiben, Marshall, and costanza.

  34. How many Cos have the mafia canned? Hall stepped into a lower role for JY. Lapo left for a HC gig. Bellefeuille had his contract expire. Paul Boudreau had his deal expire with no extension offered. That one was more public, we aren't bringing you back. Then we canned Gary Etcheverry between seasons while under contract. Wow, that is depressing. Hogan is every bit as bad as Etch was here. He 100% deserves the axe. Boy, I can not fathom trying to run it back with Hogan...

  35. Eli has started and been the 6th OL for 5 seasons. He's played a ton. He played over half of the playoff game you just watched.

  36. Peterson gets basically nothing after contact. If he's the starting RB you don't have a run game.

  37. I don't think he is actually that versatile. At G, he isn't good enough in pass pro (next to Kola anyway), and he isn't able to play the edge other than on sets where we play heavy vs small. If he was more versatile, he'd be a starting Guard imo. If Eli isn't ever going to be more than a 6th ol, if he isn't good enough in pass pro to be a starting C, we just need to move on from him. The replacement level NI interior OL is a bunch of guys who can run block man to man, and don't have the feet to pass pro. Ethan Vibert is a super versatile guy. He's got a pro-ready body at G or C he's an above-average athlete, a little below Desjarlais' level, but well above average. He played multiple roles on a good line in the NCAA. He can play either G spot or C, and he excelled as a short-yardage/teams blocker. He's also got great football IQ, and that tough/nasty mind set and play style we love. If Eli isn't gonna be given a chance / be a legit threat to take the starting C job next year, he shouldn't be back. Because Vibert is ready for that 6th ol role and has the upside to be a starter in this league.

  38. plain in simple...our roster/ratio makeup...sms allotment vs value for the $ is an utter mess...we have massively excessive amount tied into 2 positions in the CFL where they should be your cheapest groups (DB and RB) We value vet's and "intangibles" over talent...and that in itself comes at a cost, you don't need excessive vet's and limited role guys to succeed....a few on each side of the ball, along with coaches in tune with the room and the team will suffice Our draft strategy as well effects our roster, and isn't surprising when the HC and G.M basically were ST coaches only and base their picks save for the typical 1st or second nobrainer picks on these guys who excel on ST and thats it...and will ever be...Great players with starter skill can play teams too....a lot of times better than the plugs

    Bombers @ Birds: ESF GDT

yup...if we just want him for the super sub/jumbo guy then definitely....upgrade the center position....we should be doing that anyway at ny position...and we dont...or haven't been...and say it again...of making your team better means putting a Canadian in this spot supplanting and American...or vice versa...you do it...another thing we dont And yeah it's a Canadian league but playing 9 guys as your starters/majority rep takers when you dont have to and using only 7...and it makes you better.....then do it...But Osh doesnt...He's too Canadian biased and seems to wanna prove his bias/point over the betterment of his squad

  40. Yep. Kramdi, 151k. Nichols 142k. Holm 141k. I believe 155k for Lawson. 183k for Bryant. 132k for Jones. 130k for Kyrie. 165k for vaughters. 200k for wj. Then you know for sure, guys like Kola and Neuf are in the 130-150k range. Thats about 1.25m bucks, not including the other ol. Spending another 1.05-1.1m on Zach, Demki, and Brady. We can get rid of a few boat anchors, like wj maybe vaughters. But we can't get rid of all our canadians and we won't get rid of our DBs. It's crazy how we went from refusing to pay DBs having rose and BA play for peanuts to paying all our dbs a fortune. From what I've seen, a lot of Zach's money is locked in. I don't think we can save more than a minimum salary if he is willing to. We will likely have to spend more money on qb2 this coming year as well. Strevy took a bet on him self deal with a really low base, that did not work out for him at all. he got barely 100k, when most established back ups got around 180k with incentives to go up to 250-300. The following guys are FAs and will probably looking for raises as well Ayers, Demski, Nichols, Randolph, Vanterpool, Wheatfall, Vaughters and Wilson. I don't see us getting many team friendly deals with the direction of the team.

  42. Brady is already overpaid for his position. When we rested him at the end of the season, his backup looked pretty damn good at less than half the bucks. Good for him if he wants to chase the money. RB's careers are short, and they should make the most while they can, but we shouldn't be players at anything more than he's being paid right now. Re: Eli... Some folks seem to think that Eli has to be better than our starting centre, likely because he's suboptimal, but the coaches who see him every day disagree. Blame it on MOS they say. The facts are Eli's been here 5 years. He's started a few games, and he's the extra OL. MOS says he lets his coaches do their jobs, so I'd say that means the OL coach is the one who isn't starting Eli, not MOS.

  43. Exactly this...as well as our ratio and how we use it and allot the money and the value you get from it, and how it rapes you elsewhere, compared to the lower price tag and actual better more impactful play from an American...I talking SAM.....Interior d-line.....even center.....Second Canadian receiver Our flat out refusal to to never stray away from 3 oline...RB...2 receiver's and the pile of garbage that is JT Inside has just handcuffed us...allowed us to either miss out or not even consider an impact player in FA in any of those spots and made us weak....shallow in depth and just hanging onto garbage and never getting better.....because this "belief" we have that this is the winning template....cause it worked half a decade ago now To be the best, and stay the best you need to be continually getting better...bringing guys in....looking forward, not at past success.....and if you find a guy thats better than who is starting currently....you plug them in and your depth guys continually are being better along with your frontline guys....worrying about bruised ego's and loyalty aint gonna keep you succesful When is the last time....almost anytime under Osh where we have adjusted how we run our ratio....or cut a vet...a 2 yr..3yr starter....for an up and comer? I can't think of once....Only time we replaced anyone of significance is due to a player leaving for better opportunity/money or a guy was so injured even Osh couldn't justify dressing them...and even then he has played guys who in now way shape or form should have been dressed...let alone starting. And....hence....here we are and from sounds of some the soundbites from Osh....prepare for more BS nad from some personal discussions and chat I have had...expect some exodus cause of it...Sure the team is gonna spin it that "they are moving on from player X...PlaYer Y" and if you believe that get a hold of me cause I got some merchandise that I can sell you at a crazy wicked deal....it's awesome legit stuff 😁 We are a chaotic mess riht now....no real clue or plan and sounds like it's gonna fester into 2026..

  44. If Elgersma ever wants to play in the NFL one day and make that good money, he needs to come play up here (with us or someone else) or he can try the UFL. No different than what Rourke had to do. The fact that nobody else has even kicked tires on Elgersma yet is telling though. I think he needs to show he can play consistently at higher level than USports - he had a good camp with the Packers but it's a small sample size. Every league has a rookie max of some type so that's also not unique - yeah it's low but compared to salaries in bigger leagues, all CFL (rookie or not) salaries are low. Some players feel they deserve more without having earned it yet.

  46. This, via ChrisD.ca, was something... The Winnipeg Blue Bombers star running back is a pending free agent and told media in Tuesday’s end-of-season press conference that the team’s future roster and money will factor into where he plays next year. ”Playing for my hometown, it's been incredible,” said Oliveira, who was drafted by Winnipeg in 2019. “I have nothing but good things to say about my time here. “And would I love to be back? Absolutely, but I think I owe it to myself to sit down with my agent and OTG Sports and to talk to my family and kind of see what the best scenario and situation is for me.”

  49. Reality of modern cfl offences is that you run out of pistol the majority of snaps. They use it with backs in various alignments, but hand offs from under centre and snaps to full shot gun in the regular operation of an offence is pretty rare. The pistol snap is much easier, and really should never be mechanically problematic. The Centre sets the line, is responsible for adjusting the line due to defensive alignment, there’s a lot of nuance to it the same way a mlb/S will set and order the D. In pass pro with out a man head up the C is responsible to pick up A gap blitzes, stunts, twists, and help on rushers who cross face the guard into his gap. Hes also the one who will help the G beside him pick up a dominant rusher for doubles, think how you’d block ceresna or sayles unless the line up in the far gap and don’t go inside after the snap. In the base tite zone scheme we run, it’ll most often be the C or play side guard who goes to the next level. The C basically is always going to double the T over the G when a nose isn’t in play on inside zone run schemes. They double to secure the point of attack, then the guy with leverage goes to the second level taking a lber out of the play and creating a large gap. If the gap gets filled that should then create a new gap for the back which is why vision and the timing pressing the line is always important for our backs. When a nose is in play, on runs it’ll generally be the G doubling with him and skipping to the second level. If its heavy set you would have a second linemen going to the second level, or if you read the end. None of which impacts the Cs role other then making sure every one is on the same page pre snap. In pass pro with an inside rusher, the Centres first job is to wall him off. If the dl breaks the anchor of the ol turning him or pushing him back, you end up un able to switch rushers. If a guy crosses your face and the guard on that side is straight rushing you go shoulder to shoulder and body block the crosser and help on the other T. make that guy have to go all the way around rather than pop off the guard who is engaged with the T. Call outs as adjustments are often silent once the huddle is broke. It’s a lot of the same signal ideas you see in silent cadence. Pointing, even using your arm to adjust a gap alignment. The communication is critical, it’s very nuanced and demands a great deal of trust and understanding of the play book, players both team mates and opposition, alignment etc. The greatest thing I can say about neufeld is he’s been one of the best trainers of centres the field has seen. He took soo many green rookies and molded them into elite Cs. With desjarlais, and peak Neufeld, beside bryant and hardrick, we didn’t need a lot out to our C. And Dls got soo beaten by those guys they didn’t look to exploit C, because we could cover early kola. And our previous Cs were very good at what they did. We got to a point where kola became exposed, and that by using that you can get the Gs out of leverage positions. Now teams run through him. It’s all give and take. If you are under sized but lean and athletic, especially if you have long arms and know how to maximize leverage relative to your height and the opposition it really doesn’t matter if you’re short or tall or 280 or 360. A couple caveats apply, 1) you must be able to lock up and dead lock a line men for 3 ish seconds. 2) you need to be better in using bend. 3) you need quick enough feet and mentally to get into a better position sooner. Size is less important at C and T than G. C you don’t usually play a dt heads up most of the time in the cfl. At T you battle ends in the 250 range. G, you will be facing guys 275-300+ and often really powerful althetic imps or huge canadian bulls. Height can be a negative for the C. With shorter qbs you don’t want some monster eating up passing lanes. taller than 6’3 ish you gotta be smart understand the qb, offence and stay low. In general linemen are more athletic and trimmer than before. 6’ and 275 is fine, if you’re athletic, smart, and cerebral. Going up to 300 is ideal, unless you have some strange build/frame combo.
