Alex Hall and Linden Gaydosh released by Panthers

Probably means they are talking to him now and would rather not go out and do what desjardins said about dressler.

I just don't buy it that they are "luke warm".. Earlier it was, who would he replace, now its luke warm... read between the lines... They are talking and they are interested for sure.

Think about it, when ted laurent was available, bombers said we have no interest.. They haven't said that here at all.

But reading the last post prior to mine, You'd think they have but they haven't..

Luke warm? WTF? luke warm means they have interest cuz they didn't come out and say they have NO interest.

In my opinion, not interested means not interested. I'd love if it was all a ploy but I don't expect to see Alex Hall back here.

where have they said "not interested" though. I didn't see them say that anywhere, they said "luke warm".

Actually CJOB said "luke warm". They were paraphrasing O'Shea.

Hunt would just retire, the guy is set for life really.. Has no need to come back to the CFL... and i doubt he'd be the same player he was anyway. Put it this way, if the team apparently doesn't see a spot for Hall, where the heck would hunt fit?

I don't like what O'shea said here.. The only real question to be asking instead of who does he replace is.. Does he make the team better and the answer to that is YES YES YES he does.

Is that really the case? Hunt only has 3 seasons in, so he hasn't qualified for the pension yet. I'd have to think that a few more years of making north of 100K would be pretty tempting.

Walters' quoted reaction may be a negotiating ploy. I expect Hall to be in Bomber colours (whatever the hell they will be) by the weekend. No sources, just idle speculation.

This is relevant to my interests and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

If I ever get out of "idle mode".......

I don't really understand O'Shea's comment.  We have no import DL off our roster.  Who do we release to make room for Hall or any other DE?  Bryant, Kemp, maybe one of the three import OL we have who are currently not dressing?

That said, I'm no fan of Hall, and don't really see him fitting here, Vega and Peach are the style Etch wants, all-around DE's who can drop into a zone almost as well as they can fill a gap.  We do need depth on the DL though.  We had to play Vega with a pretty significant injury for at least two games because we have no depth.

Have you actually seen Peach or Vega drop into zone?  I've been watching for this all season and have yet to really see it - but haven't rewatched very many games this year...

If it's between Hall and Bilikudi, then i would like to see the Cristo kid in a Bomber uniform.

Interest in Hall would be nice but, does Hall have an interest in the type of role Hall would be asked to play in.

He would be great in a rotational flipping of players at DE, allowing Vega to recuperate properly and the much under-appreciated Greg Peach to continue his strong play on fresher legs.

*By the way, how great does Peach have to play to get any respect around these parts?

Can't disagree with any of your thoughts, but Hall would definitely be an impact player. As would Bilikudi.

O'Shea said on the coaches show tonight, when asked about Hall, that he didn't want players on the team who don't do what's asked of them. He compared him to Peyton & Montford, two pass rush specialists who complained about their roles in an Etch D. It really doesn't sound like O'Shea wants him.

Elfrid Payton?  When did he play for Etch?

Montford's only 'bad' year was with Toronto... except he was still a CFL all-star I think.

I was hoping Etcheverry would have learned some humility by now but maybe not.  That quote is worrisome - sounds like old Etcheverry blah blah.

If you notice how Sask. uses Chick they move him all over the place to attain the easiest access to the QB while the other members of his D-line do most of the grunt work.  In the end he makes all of his line-mates better, I could see Hall being used in the same way.

I think O'Shea's stance is from looking back on the first 9 games and not thinking forward to the next 9 which will be much tougher and require better weaponry.

Funny, both of those players are in the Hall of Fame and Etch couldn't figure out how to use them in his "system".

Is there any scuttlebutt that we are in on Hall?  Did he leave Winnipeg on good terms?

I saw one local reporter tweeted about how intriguing it would be for the Bombers to sign Dressler this week, but havent seen any mention of Hall.

Sort of, but he REALLY did not like the coaching staff we had last year for obvious reasons.

That's why all the mentions of Hall to Toronto are funny. I'd think that would be the last place he'd go.

IMO he signs in either Ottawa or Winnipeg.

I was thinking Ottawa too as well as maybe another NFL team.

Hall is not lining up anywhere inside the outside shoulder of the offensive tackle and being effective.  Pure finesse pass rusher.  He's going to get manhandled inside off the snap.  Hall is nowhere near the football player a guy like Chick is, he's a specialist.

Good point.  Regardless of where he lines up I still think Hall would make all his D-line-mates jobs easier by drawing more attention to himself.

Alex Hall is better than Greg Peach, but with that said I'll also note that Peach has been a really, really good lineman this year for us.

After seeing him last year I was worried they would keep him only because he 'tries hard' and has a 'high motor.' This year I think he's shown that he's more than just effort.
