Raise your hand if your greed and pettiness helped your former team's biggest rival end the league's longest drought a season later.

  • His trip to the bathroom lasted longer than his free agency.

  • I like having posters from other teams. I don't get why some of you get so butt hurt over it. Other teams have good players/seasons. It's ok to acknowledge it. DOesn't take anything away from our team

Rhymes should probably consider firing his agent first thing, didn't even get him close to #1 receiver pay on his own team, with Whitehead earning $200K.

Whitehead is just shy of 300k if he meets his bonuses.

If teams did the same thing, you could make that argument.

Then why go through the bother of contracts at all?  Nationally televised pickup games every weekend!

Brilliant!

If Rhymes and his agent want to angle for a new deal (likely by offering another year or two), they're welcome to try. The worst the team can say is "no".

So just a question here --- how does everyone like the tampering window ?

Love it. NFL has had a similar thing for a few years now. Anything that generates discussion and debate on sites like this or on Twitter, etc, is good for the league.

If the Elks are indeed paying Lewis 300k/year it should be fun to watch Lawler going against them this year.

He signed a contract. Honour it. he's probably a free agent next season & would cash in then.

Yes, agreed. After all, teams in pro football always honour the contracts and don’t historically just use guys up like they are assets and nothing more.

Rhymes to the Riders then?

Nah, he wants to win as well.

It is the NBA model. I want all the money and to play on an elite team.

Meh....Rhymes thing is a nothing burger imo. He asks for a trade, BC ups him a little bit on a renegotiated one year deal and he is a Lion this year. If they don't redo his contract they both lose. What is he going to do if they don't re-up him. He probably feels he holds all the cards but he doesn't.

Non Bomber Off Season Update:

One of my riding Brothers gets the Grey Cup a week from today on the Holiday Monday. We're tailgating and having a party. Expecting 70+ friends. Menu is looking good. Any MBB posters in the GTA East who'd like to pop-in can PM me.

Speaking for myself, it'll be the final time this off season that I celebrate our Championship. Afterward, the climb begins again.

Hey, the off season can be a long slog. Thought I'd offer the invite.

Pretty cool offer, imo. I haven’t seen the Grey Cup up close since 2012.

Rhymes has to be a little careful.  He’s a good player, not an exceptional one.  Given the list of veteran receivers on the market still he’s not irreplaceable.

Likewise, players who sign fat contracts and then underperform always agree to re-negotiate down in the same interest of fairness as they expect the teams to do after a breakout year on a value deal.

Rhymes is a talented player, but his personality does have to be taken into account.  He would be a close second to Lawler in available players.

I am never going to fault a player for getting the bag

Or even re-structuring deals to create cap space.
