Bombers recruiting Derel Walker

Give the article a click, but basically says we’re trying to get him to take heavier upfront dollars for a cheaper cap hit but more take home money and that we were on the hunt for him last off-season too with the same financial obligations we have.

Duron Carter is still out there... just saying :)

"out there"

Man, he's just gotta sign here! Makes so much sense. Other than Ottawa all the other teams are loaded up. Common Derel, Lapo aint gonna throw the ball and Redblacks gonna suck! Come on down to Winnipeg!

Yeah still probably not bigger news than Einarson... ha

Bah!  Curling barely counts as a sport ...

(cue the flames in three .. two .. one ...)

Curling is 1 of the most affordable sports now.

Fun as hell, too! Especially when there's cold beers involved.

Seriously, though... I want Walker in Winnipeg.

Agreed. My dad always said it'd be more entertaining if there was more contact.

According to John Hodge the Bombers remaining hole is boundary HB.

Guess he missed Walter press conference on free agency day.  Taylor and Johnson are our halfbacks.  The open spots in the secondary are at corner.  Mike Jones is likely to claim one, the other will be determined in camp.  Johnson was signed to play inside, maybe even SAM but in that case Maston would move to half.

He also sees no hole in the Riders lineup.

Just smooth sailing

Is Derrel Walker still on the planet......not a whisper from his agent...himself or no digging media type....I say he has left the planet and taken his agent with him....

Umm... the Hodge article isn't really that bad...  guy's gotta write something in the off-season

We had a hard time filling boundary effectively until Sayles showed up - can't pretend otherwise...

I have always thought that luge or downhill skiing would be much more entertaining with intersections.

Johnson has played boundary corner and half...as well as bounced out to field side too when they had injury issues

Our halfback spots will be Johnson and Taylor and you can set that in stone, only way he may slot out to corner is if we stick a Canadian at safety, then Alexander will take a halfback spot

As it sits right now you can pretty much pencil in our day one backfield as boundary corner being Jones, Halback being Johnson...with field half being Taylor and Alexander at safety...Field corner will be the spot to fill with a new body, and I think it will be a battle between Boynton, Lyles, Liggens McDougal

Luge is scary enough as it is. No need for collissions.

Funny, my dad caught his pants on fire one time curling. True story.

It's pretty bad when you consider Walters literally spelled out the plan for the secondary in a press conference two weeks ago.  If you're hoping to earn an income covering a sport and a team you should know that.

Maybe the Bombers are waiting till the trade deadline passes so it won't go unnoticed?

That is my hope 😄

Nah it’s really not that bad.

Chevy has probably asked Walters to do something so that no one notices Chevy doing nothing.

Johnson also played SAM for BC when they still had a pretty good D and that's a lot of what Walters talked about being attracted to in terms of targeting him in free agency.  Not a word for word quote but the jist of what he said was he wants veteran guys for the halfback, SAM and safety spots and they'll run with the young guys at corner where the skills are more transferable from the American game to the Canadian game.

I guess Hodge wasn't taking good notes.

I think in terms of who is where it really will be whatever combo of those vet guys Hall likes heading into the season for both HB spots, safety, SAM between Maston, Taylor, Johnson and Alexander.  Pending injury it's definitely a strong spot on the roster IMO, as strong as any secondary can be in a league that is structured to make it extremely difficult to defend the pass.
