Bomber Moves 2018

Sorry but I don't like the total silence coming out of Bomberville, but that's just me; I like action and news  like all of you.  Yes we've extended a contract or two and we are distributing the year-end money before the 2018 salary cap  comes in.

But what are the deep thinkers in our organization planning to do?

I hope they are not thinking status quo; that never seems to work out well. Unless we are dedicated to making sharp improvements here and there, I believe we atrophy from last year.

After the 2017 NFL cuts were made did we bring in any linebackers for a sniff? I saw other prospects up here but maybe I missed something.

We have got to fix what's broken and I think somehow management must know more than we do ... we are good prognosticators with our comments on this site but I would like management to show us up.

We are not hearing a lot of news out of the Calgary and Edmonton football clubs so maybe our Blue Bombers are an elite club now (as we join those two in their silence).

But man I hate twiddling my thumbs as I wait to see what our local gurus are going to do. No news is bad news, say the bored ...  Well at least were not coming off seasons like Ottawa Hamilton and Montréal had.

So maybe I should be grateful for our club and its management.

Say what you will about Mike O'Shea but no one can ever overstate how valuable he has been in turning around the perception and culture of this franchise.

  • TSN1290 reporting that SK offered the most money, but he chose Winnipeg.

Wilder was on his rookie contract. Lafrance is not and is also CDN.

Yes I get the ratio and the fact that Wilder is on a rookie contract but close to six figures for a back up Canadian Runningback.. I think the money could used more efficiently.

I can understand that but these signings were expected, I think.

You sign them as you get their signatures on the line. It's not a linear process.

That being said, we've certainly secured our O for 2018 but that wasn't a weakness.

We have improved our CDN depth and that IS important

Some reports saying we’ll start two Canadian receivers (Demski and Coates), but wouldn’t it be just Demski with Flanders in at slot?

CDN depth is the most important thing to have.

Removing the signing bonus..

Demski = 115k. Lafrance = 80k.

Thats 195k for 2 CDNs.

Laurent signed for 200k. Evans for 170k.

These are 2 very good value signings

Would love to see some improvement on d... I feel like it's weird our first batch of signing were all on offense.

Walter's basically came out and said this is what they'd do at his press conference last week. I'm paraphrasing, but he said they'd pay for offense and scout for defense.

Fixed....

Jeffcoat Poop Alexander Walker JSK... They have done alright with the D scouting. If you throw in Wild and Leggett... Not Walters guys but.. Lifer bombers... 8 of 12 D starters including Loffler were Bomber finds

Okp.. Nevis Randle and lets say Gaitor are not.

Thats pretty good.

Why would you remove the signing bonus? It counts against the SMS and is part of their pay...just up front.

The best way to view it as them simply using free agency to bolster the Canadian depth, which was needed. We can use a Canadian to back up Harris, we can use more canadian depth at receiver, especially if they're planning on using more of them there to get more americans on D. It all helps build the best roster possible so it can help the D even if it's not a direct signing on D. Better national depth on offense means no need for national linebacker which should mean better defense from the weakest position on the D.
