Bombers Training Camp 2017 - May 28

RHÉANNE M.

WINNIPEG, MB., May 11, 2017 –  The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has invited Winnipeg Rifles wide receivers Xander Tachinski (#73) and Brendan Naujoks (#74), running back Michael Ritchott (#76), and defensive back Andrew Ricard (#77) to take part in the club’s three-day rookie camp commencing Wednesday, May 24. The players will continue with the team through the first part of the main training camp.

Tachinski and Ritchott attended part of last season’s rookie camp, and most recently played in their third and fourth years with the Rifles, respectively. Naujoks and Ricard have both spent three seasons with the Rifles.

“The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have continued to try to invest in the growth of younger football players within Manitoba,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “This will be a great experience for all of them to be on the field with professional players, and to continue to grow as athletes.”

Quarterbacks and CFL newcomers will report to Winnipeg and will be on the field for the opening of rookie camp on Wednesday, May 24th. Veterans report on May 26th and will begin practicing on May 28th.

The Blue Bombers will play two pre-season games:  June 10th at Mosaic Stadium in Regina against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and June 15th at Investors Group Field against the Edmonton Eskimos.

I'm not able to be there today but I feel confident to offer this Day 2 of Rookie Camp Report: MOS and the coaching staff are still excited. There are lots of guys who are flying around, showing a ton of energy. The QBs all made some good throws and some bad ones. Some receivers are catching everything and others are suffering from the dropsies.

You are exceptionally brave.

Looks like the bombers are most stacked (concerned?) at left corner and middle linebacker. Hmmmm....

I was planning on heading down Sunday for opening day of main camp but I see PlayOn has Chancellor Matheson blocked off all weekend.  Anyone know if they set up alternate parking or should I treat it like a game day (park & walk 10-15 minutes)?

Play On was happening last year, too. I had no trouble parking in the main lot beside the Bombers Store.

Hope to see y'all on Sunday!

I'll be in attendance Sunday - look for the guy wearing street hockey shinpads, a purple jersey and a safari hat.

... and some kind of pants, of course.

Forget it. That's a deal breaker - not going to go now.

Does work ethic count as showing a ton of energy?

I'm currently sporting a black eye, a missing toenail and my bruises have bruises - all from ball hockey.

I'll keep my shins intact. :P

I was there today and I completely agree with Taiter. Apodaca will definitely be fun to watch this TC. Strong arm, mobility and shows confidence. Count me as an instant fan.

He just has CFL QB written all over him. Watching the highlight video all the boxes are checked off, accuracy could be an issue but let's hope this guy is for real!

His accuracy today was pretty dam good, especially when you take the wind into consideration.

Those poor Rifle receivers are likely doing inventory of their fingers after that practice.

Our only (so far :P) unsigned 2017 CFL Draft choice ...

Sounds Dieter Brock like.....IF he's as accurate as he has strength in his throws...we may just have another Ralph

There we have it -- 2nd day of Rookie Camp and we have a comparison between our brand new QB and Dieter Brock......

Well since Dominique Davis is the next Warren Moon it sounds reasonable ... ;)

If Apodaca is any good when the lights come on I hope we 6 game him from a nasty case of hangnailitis rather than PR him and have Jones and his greasy hands try and poach another decent prospect QB off us like he did with Bennett. I have a feeling the riders will be in dire need of putting out a QB tire fire by LDC and would certainly not like to help them

How did Jones poach Bennett?

Fear not, I hear the Chris Jones has Matt Leinart on speed dial if Vince Young doesn't work out.
