Now that the Tabbies have someone competent calling plays they may just be able to do something. And certainly our defence has been leaky on second an long for a few weeks.

But we've basically been winning our recent games not by defensive stingyness but by just plain outscoring everyone.

    Still taking an Argo win.

It's pretty unlikely the Argos win a game between Winnipeg and Sask... but I like your confidence!

  2. Throw out the records... I never feel comfortable about labour day... the 7-1 vs 1-7 isn't the game that did it for me, that 7-1 team was clearly a fraud... it's games like last year when the Bombers were probably a "three TD better team" and just barely squeaked out a win in that one... and might not have it not for an incredibly stupid bench penalty by ****** Williams and a dumb late throw that was picked off by Hallett...

Just speculating, I’d imagine the Lions would want the fan and media interest of having another Canadian/Rourke at QB. Older Rourke was kind of the catalyst for their attendance turnaround.
Also, the kid is really fing good.

The "little" brother is listed at 6'5, 231 lbs... that alone (along with solid college numbers) will keep him in the NFL for a least a few years

Stubler was a great defensive mind. He had a lot of success with a number of CFL teams. I remember after Tim Burke was fired, posters here at MBB were hoping that Stubler would be our HC but I think he went to the Stamps to be their DC under  John Hufnagel, I can't remember. I don't think Stubler wanted to take on the gigantic task at his age (mid 60's) to rebuild the Bombers back then. We were a terrible team at the time. As bad as it got so he went elsewhere. We ended up hiring Mike O'Shea instead. Things happen for a reason.

Your memory is typically impeccable for these sort of thing so I hesitate to question you... but I believe O'Shea had Stubler tapped to be the DC... then he chose Calgary instead... leading to the hiring of Etchevarry.

I know that this is virtually impossible for the average fan to say, but just for conversation sake: Who's been our best OL so far this year? Is it automatically the LT because that's the toughest job?

I might be tempted to say it’s more the sum of the parts… no guy has really stood out as outstanding… but as a unit, they’ve been very good all year

About 13 years too late for that.

I hear you. We attend games as a family and the game or 2 I have to miss a year due to work travel really annoy her. I’m attending a conference that starts Sept 10. The flight I was sent departed 9am Saturday, I wasn’t missing the Banjo Bowl and switched it to 9:55pm Saturday so we can attend the game. She’s still on my ass “if it’s close and you want to leave early to make your flight…”

Last year she had a bad sciatica flare up and limped her way to the banjo bowl and pretty had to side sideways to and from in the truck to be any little bit comfortable. Will not miss a Banjo Bowl.

Wait, does she mean “if the game is close”… I don’t think you have to worry about that 🤣

It amazes me just how resilient this club is.....The start wasn't at all what any team wants BUT did we panic....get down ....nope, just went about our business and played to our talent level....The class of the league

@DTonOB made a good point in the post-game show about how some QBs would have been mentally ruined after throwing 2 pick-sixes in one half... Zach just brushed it off and kept doing his thing and lit up the second half

  8. 1 - Jeffcoat: if he's not the best pure DE in the league... I don't know who is

2 - Brady: Zach started out slow and eventually turned it around... Brady kept the offense going in his absence

3 - Rose: I thought he was really noticeable, in a good way, last night... obviously the pick helped... we haven't heard much from Rose since his return from injury... and that's usually a good thing for a DB

HH - Jake Thomas : people are starting to sour on his but he was solid last night and recorded another sack... that said, Lawson was also really good and should probably be getting more snaps.

He's gonna lead league...as a Canadian...prob be close to one of the best season totals, and likely to have most 100 yard games in a season as a Canadian...plus is prob oher than ZC one the most important pieces to our offence...and if he was out long term we would be hampered bigtime...He a slam dunk MOC and has to be in convo for MOP

Yeah but have you heard about Mathieu Betts' first five games this season!!!

2019 - Yes the game where VAJ took off his helmet and threw it at Bighill.  And we collapsed in the 4th quarter.

2021 - Rain storm in Montreal, and a meaningless game, considering we had clinched first place with like 5 weeks left in the season.

2022 - Legs misses a game winning FG, and then the OT FG to tie.

Thanks for the context @rebusrankin.  There was a reason I blocked these games from my memory!

More accurately... he ripped off Bighill's helmet... swung it at Bighill's helmet-less head... and somehow was allowed to stay in the game

Imagine if the LOLK's had listened to Wally and taken Goveia as the GM, rather than giving Jones all the jobs....? Would likely be a MUCH different story in Edm right now...

Edmonton is definitely the first place that came to mind... If they do the smart thing and lose Jones... Goveia would be a smart replacement... maybe he takes Buck as his HC... and Buck takes Brown to be his QB...

Don't know anything about the current President Edm has hired... but if they look at our structure and see a strong President/GM/HC relationship... having a GM and HC with a preexisting relationship would be a good start

    Not might.

Mathematically it would eliminate Calgary and Edmonton with 3 wins. They’ve both lost the season series and Calgary would need 9 more wins with only 8 games left.

I was talking about the Riders... officially they have to win 4 games to eliminate Edmonton and 6 games (or 5 if they win the tie-break) to eliminate Calgary... but 3 more wins would probably be enough

I'm better than I used to be, but that was an extremely low bar. I'm not sure if it's the pandemic that changed me, or getting married, or just old age..... but I don't get as completely "ruined" as I used to. There were times I was inconsolable for most of a week following a loss.

funny thing is I actually get more stressed watching games now... because now I expect them to win... when the team was bad (especially the really, really bad years) you'd just hope for the best but expect a loss...

It also helps my stress levels when I am watching the game live with 30,000 of my closest friends and family

Short yardage is 99% ol play. Comparable out put with a significantly worse ol is much better performance. And he has been much better than comparable.

Disagree… remember late last season in a meaningless game when the team tried to get Mike Miller a goal line TD… I think he got stuffed 3 times the first goal line attempt and then finally got it in two tries in the second time around… there is definitely a skill to it

Maybe the league needs to add a free pr spot just for QBs. Maybe the salary cap should have a separate number for all qbs. Or maybe we need a higher salary floor for qbs.
One thing is clear, you can’t trust or depend on teams to prioritize and develop young qbs in the cfl right now.

I actually really like this idea… if the bombers had a dedicated QB development position where I player gets league minimum instead of PR salary… we’d probably still have Prigrome on our team

Every one worth 100mil is working for, or owned some one else. Nearly all privately owned sports teams are owned by ownership groups not individuals.

hilarious the cfl media is soo excited to see us relegated to a bottom feeder.

I love this… I hope everyone discounts the bombers… that’s when they’re at their best… if we have a game to play come awards time, I hope a few players get snubbed too…
