    @DTonOB dropping some news.

this is interesting and hopefully helpful... always good to get a mauler in at guard... if I was choosing which of the three interior guys I wanted changed, Gray probably would've been my third choice... but then again, WTF do I know...

EDIT: I think we'll still see a lot of Gray in TE formations tonight

I'd like to see when everyone is healthy a trio of Wilson - Biggie - Cole to be honest...with Clements as the DA rotating in...he's actually really excelled this yr off the edge in some sets too...that would be a trio with phenomenal sideline to sideline coverage

That probably takes Darby out of the lineup?

I am not sure why Cole isn’t getting a shot at WIL.

This one really confuses me for two reasons... first is, there's no reason to think Cole can't/won't be a good WIL... but more importantly, I found it interesting that Maruo starts and has an * beside his name... which means he essentially counts as an American as a starter... but he doesn't as a back up... so even if you listed Cole as the starter but still played Maruo from the second play on... wouldn't that allow for us to technically dress another DA?

EDIT: looked at the graphic a little closer and I believe it's a + neck to Maruo... which essentially makes like an 8th Canadian... so I think my thought process still applies.

Don't forget there's extra draft picks available to the team that uses the loophole least. It's something at least....

I've been thinking about this actually... I wonder if the Bombers are playing the long game on this... knowing if they basically don't use the rule at all for the first half, even 12 games, of the season... they are almost assured to get that bonus draft pick... also, knowing our team can compete without using the rule... then come crunch/playoff time, they start to use it more... maybe I'm overthinking it... but I feel like it's a possibility.

If Geroy will take over the Elks GM job (whether for the duration of this year and/or onwards), I think he will have a good shot of luring Buck Pierce as Elks next HC next year and possibly Dru Brown in tow.

If the Bombers continue to have success this year... Buck will likely be a hot coaching candidate again.... he said last off-season he wanted the right opportunity... so maybe with Cui running the show, his pal Geory as the GM, and a storied franchise to tag along to... it might be the right opportunity for him.

Tendencies are what is different.  If it's 2nd and 6, this guy likes to call this.  This QB wants to run this.  There's not really any secrets.  It's calling the right play to isolate the right guy and winning the play.

You often hear guys say it's all about execution... it doesn't matter if the defense knows exactly what's coming... if you execute, you'll get it done... Exhibit 1A: 4th quarter drive by the Bomber last Friday night

I have never seen that once.....

I've definitely seen it at IGF multiple times... and sometimes it's needed... some people get too fired up after the "FRIST DOWN" cheer during critical drives...

Speaking of critical drives... I need to jump on youtube and see if Waders has last week's game up... would love to watch that soul-sucking 10 min drive again

Pigrome signed by the Redblacks......I wonder how much info between Desjarlis and Pigrome will be dissemenated to the 2 colours before Sat.........Have to be on our toes and change game plan accordingly

why do people love overplay this angle??? Suddenly Ottawa is going to know every little bit about our playbook because they have two of our former players on their roster?... luckily the Bombers now have montreal's entire play book thanks to the pick up of Exume

Who are the good tacklers in the CFL?  Every week I see guys laying out big body blows, but good one-on-one form tackles seem rarer and rarer.

I'm not sure if this is true or if it's something I just read, but it seems like since full-contact practices were limited tackling has been real iffy in the league.

So far from what I’ve seen… Daramy-Swaray seems to be a pretty damn sure tackler…. Not suggesting he’s the bast tackler in the league or anything… I think there is a lot of sure tackling happening it’s just the shoulder hits get more attention (good and bad ones)

If he wasn’t going to possibly report they would’ve just cut him. It was yet another immigration issue.
You mean like we have with a bunch of guys from sayles to walker to Habba? Dl do not get adjustment periods in the cfl they get thrown in pretty much right away. Even going back to guys like stove poop Bryant we’ve always thrown guys in.
If you have the physical tool set and a fraction of a brain you can pretty much step in at dl in the cfl. It’s the easiest position to transition. That at rb.
He’s pretty much same boat as fox and Middleton. For that we could bring back Thomas too.

yeah that's a good point... it just feels like a guy we've heard literally nothing about seems unlikely to just show up one day and impress enough to start

The guy must have been dropped on his head if he thinks the Riders have a better game day experience.

    https://3downnation.com/2023/07/09/superfan-bobby-dubeau-attends-game-in-all-nine-cfl-stadiums-over-15-days-to-set-guinness-world-record/

Along the way, he has connected with fans of every CFL team while collecting witness statements and video evidence of his attendance until the final whistle of every game. He has become an expert in the gameday experience at all nine venues, settling the debate on where the best spot to watch a game truly is.

“The best game day experience is Saskatchewan. I would say Winnipeg, but they have that stupid ‘Make Some Noise’ announcement like 50 times during the game,” Dubeau chuckled. “Saskatchewan just seems more organic. The fans are great. I know some season ticket holders so I got to go for a meal at their house after and get the full Roughrider experience.”

so basically he says it is Winnipeg... he just doesn't like the "make some noise" chant... which is a fair grievance.

I don't think it was that long... Wasn't over the course of one off-season but it wasn't like 3-4 years either.

His 1st season with us (2015) was our last losing season but in year two, the pieces to rebuild the OL were in place (Stan, Yoshi, Neufeld, Couture, Chungh).

Depth is what probably took the longest to build (and keeping Neufeld healthy).

Don't forget Mathias Goossen... he was also a critical part of the OL turn around

Think it's more entertainment than hyping up the crowd.  It is happening during a commercial break.

based on his instagram account, he appears to be Vegas based and was involved with the Knights cup run... not coincidentally, Gary Lawless was at the game on Friday... he's likely the guy that got the side sides together

Need me some of that. Biggie lists as 241 but man he seems smaller than when he was with bc. Long gone is the explosive power of the 9 sack 100+ tackle campaigns.
Crazy to think back to the guy who had 647 tackles 37 sacks, 10 picks, 6 forced fumbles 6 fumble recoveries, 6 pass kds, 2 tds a saftey, 105 games only 3 missed over 6 seasons from 12-16+18.

This is very surprising... his whole career, he's been around 215-220... he doesn't look like he's 20+ pounds bigger

Having 3 viable pass rushing des is critical. But jeffcoat when healthy is the most disruptive player on D and one of the best pass rushers. Even when he doesn’t get to the qb he has a Lawrence Taylor type impact.
Willy is such a unique de and gets a ton of credit which he deserves especially this year. But jj is after the QBs ass every single snap and terrorizing would be blockers.

Lawson is a beast inside too. If we sort out snaps with Jake better and improve our imp dt / nose spot the front will be epic. Grab middleton from the elk, roster fox, bring Goodson off the suspended list etc lots of options.
It’d be nice to roll 3 des and 4 dts keeping walker on but we are already thin at a bunch of other spots like db.

You can’t just “bring Goodson off the suspended list”… he’s suspended because he never reported… unlikely he would report now… and also unlikely the team would just give an unproven rookie a rotational role just out of the blue… I like your other suggestions but the Goodson one is a little out of left field

    Bighill with another great game.

People love pointing out when he has an off game (rare and usually when he is playing next to backup LBs and DL).

    Love Biggie.

It’s not necessarily a bad game… he makes one miss or is late to a play and some people just want to jump all over him to prove they were right about his decline… even in his prime, he wasn’t perfect 100% of the time (ok maybe in some games he was)… he’s still a great player
