I think Peterson only got 7 yards on that one on a 1st and 20 after a holding call.
I could be thinking of a different one... I'm sure Awe had over the top celebrations on several insignificant plays

crunch of the game. Bridges on the BC receiver. That was nice. Awe on Peterson was big also. I love players who celebrate when losing lol.
was that the one where he celebrated like he had just made a game-winning play... even though Peterson got the first down... and they were down by two scores in the 4th quarter... what a clown... 🤣

Nye is a hack. They need to hire somebody else. Pretty sure there is a 2nd grader somewhere who could fill his shoes.
it's funny to laugh at how ridiculous his write up is... but it is pretty embarrassing that he is writing this for a national website... which happens to be the official page of the league... if he was writing this on a Saskatchewan site, there would be no issues with his homerism...

Weekly Predictor: Who wins on WestJet Canada Day Weekend? - CFL.ca
Never change Jamie Nye, never change. Actually go take a long walk off a short pier.
Quick recap... he starts by saying the Bombers D has started the season great against a BC team without Rourke... I guess he forgot the blowout in week two... the proceeds to say the Elks suck at everything and Bombers are good at everything... so naturally, his pick is the Elks 😂

He's at the very least a fresh take on the CFL. Which is nice. I've never really liked his NFL stuff he did with TSN. I am kinda liking the fan ranking thing on X. Assuming he's full on trolling and not being serious.
Last week he went on a rant about the "Worst penalty in CFL history" during the MTL vs TO game. And it was pretty obvious he hadn't watch the CFL very much cause, well it was the correct call and even if they had messed it up, there have been far far worse called lol.was it last season?... I believe Ham vs Mtl... Hamilton player clearly fumbles the ball... without a shadow of a doubt... somehow the runner is called down and confirmed via replay... that's probably the worst call I've ever seen in the CFL

Anyone know further details on Rourke?

I kinda love the juxtaposition of Rourke being a really good QB (CFL needs good young QBs right now)... but also getting his ass kicked by the Bombers every time they play.

I still wouldn’t give Lawler the money Hamilton did. While he’s performed well, and sterns/mitchell/white haven’t worked out, wheatfall/schoen/demski is a very good core.
If any thing, I’d a still tried to spend that money on ol/dl.
Lawlers character faults aren’t toxic or horrible. But they are a lot for price, and not going away.
We are already spending too much on the wr core. And we need youth.
Also, schoen vs lawler, I take schoen every day of the week. Even dollar for dollar.
a little pre-mature to say Sterns and Mitchell haven't worked out... it's only been one game... I don't know what Mitchell's deal is but maybe when he finally does get into a game, he looks great and never loses his spot

I was of the mind of 'what the hell are we doing trading for this kid Peterson' at the time....After seeing his performance last night I can see what we liked about him....great performance...I thought once Brady went down that our running game would come to a grinding halt....not so...the little guy put in quite a performance......Thought our defensive line played great ....our hogs looked really good as well.....Room for improvement for sure BUT I don't think anyone left the stadium disappointed
I actually thought he was kind of just a throw in because we really liked the global DE... turns out we may have got the two best players in that deal
39 minutes ago, bigg jay said:Bit of hyperbole there - nobody was saying it was the end of the world, just expressing their displeasure with the line-up. The coaches may have been right but they were also fortunate. They rolled the dice & fielded a team that was very thin in certain positions (DL, WR) but luckily they made it through with no injuries at those spots.
I would agree with you... even the most ardent of complainers (you know who you are) weren't saying "this team sucks, we're going to lose"... but rather "a few tweaks could make this roster even better"

There's so many players that had a great night last night... it's hard to single out just three... there are three guys I want to mention, maybe not necessarily as the "top 3" stars, but just guys I think deserve a shoutout...
1- Kennall Randolph (I'd like to start the petition to call him Kenny Randy) - Thank you for your service Mr Lofton, but you are no longer required... we still love the years Yoshi gave us but he's dead to us in green... Randolph is the future and current starting tackle of this team... whether he remains on the right or takes over for Big Stan on the left
2 - Mike Ayers - He just makes plays... I'll admit Kyrie Wilson played well last night... but I hate that it's at the expense of Ayers... he should be an every down defensive player
3 - Keric Wheatfall - I don't like to anoint anyone too early... but it's looking like we really have something in this guy... could be a stud for years to come....
A million other players also played great last night... Strev, Peterson, The entire Oline, Demski, Jones, Kramdi, Vaval, Holm

This is where familiarity bias is stepping in. BC dressed an American fullback who played zero snaps literally last week.
so you're saying it's a Buck thing? 😁
Also, looking at the depth chart, they listed Cdn Riley Picket at FB and American Zander Horvath as the back up RB... being that he's listed at 6'3, 230... he could be confused as a FB

I agree... but that mullet has to go... mullets "coming back" is officially the worst trend that has ever happened.... socks and sandals being a close second

First practice of the regular season is today. Out with the old and in with the new. Time to get it started.
If Jake and Schmek want to sit out... like permanently... that would be just fine

Someone seriously thought we needed an entire article to justify cutting Myron Mitchell?
The first line of the article says "The Blue Bombers made a move that surprised some fans"... either I have no idea what the casual fan thinks (due to getting all my info here) or the media is completely clueless... I come to that conclusion also referencing the pre-game show from pre-season game one where they were talking about vets who might be at risk of either being cut or losing playing time... and Ed Tait went on to say (paraphrasing here) "a lot of fans will be shocked to hear this but I think Jake Thomas will start getting less reps this year"... Do most casual fans think he's a stud?
PS... this is not meant to start more conversation about JT... more about casual fans

WJ+Vaughters is an excellent duo but both are better if they have somebody to sub in. Using Pearson as a DI for this makes a lot of sense. Or Bailey as a global in this role. I mean take Schemekel or Kornelson off for Bailey or don't DI two linebackers and get Pearson on.
I'm not sure how it looks ratio wise... or if JY is planning to run a lot of 3-man fronts again... but I think the ideal game day DL includes Willie, Vaughters, Person, Bailey, Lawson, Adams, and Woods... now that list is impossible because it excludes Thomas... but we'll have to see what they go with
-
Nothing terribly surprising about who made the final roster, IMO... K Wilson is a guy I wish we had moved on from but he was making the roster the second we was extended... same with Jake... I would assume Munier-Bailey would offer much more to the game day roster than any of Jake, Schmek, or Kornellson... so hopefully we see at least one change there... I'm also concerned about losing someone like J Jones or Ayers or Woodbey at the expense of T Jones or Wilson.... I don't know much about Woodbey but I'd rather roll the dice on him than watch Wilson get hurt again...

Time for a CFL minor league.
Stick it in the Atlantic. Have 4-6 teams. There's another 200 players developing. Guarantee you can convince that many guys to play for a few years to stay active for a chance coming out of U Sports and CJFL. Develop Canadian players, let the QB's you want to develop get live reps.
this is a great idea... but it sounds expensive... CFL isn't exactly flush with cash

Hopefully they know that Bailey is looking to play in Canada. His resume would look fine as an American player. Lots of production, good testing numbers. Hopefully he can be a rotational piece off the edge. We've really missed having a nice rotation on the edge the past couple years.
This has to be it, right?… they have to know he wants to play in Canada and that he’s a legit rotational piece… otherwise this doesn’t make any sense… his tweener size concerns me slightly

I thought fans singing, "O'Shea, O'Shea, O'Shea" was pretty cool, actually. From what I saw, he seemed to enjoy that.
I don't know how much the coach enjoyed it... but it was a fun chant in Nov 2019 at portage and main

I was actually thinking about this recently during the break and I wondered what a realistic magic number would be to win the west (don't care about the presidents trophy... in fact, I'd rather the Jets not win that)... I kind of settled on 16 wins... though 2 extra points would be useful... so something like 16-8-2 in the final 26... With that record, I believe Dallas, Edm, or Vegas would have to go 22-5 or 22-4 (depending on how many games they have left) to knock the Jets out of first... while it's not impossible for team to get super hot... it seems unlikely....

The game plan was to attack the Argos strength. Makes no sense. Pure hubris
A friend of mine who's a huge football fan but not a huge CFL fan (he'll go to a few games with me a year and watch playoffs) commented after the GC... why did the Bombers keep attacking McManis... guy is clearly the best player on the field.

Right but "calls it he sees it" isn't necessarily a good thing when one's opinion is far from the truth... it just helps spread misinformation

2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season
in Blue Bomber Discussion
Posted
I hate to pile on but this comment is just incorrect... Bighill is almost universally loved for his time in Wpg... he's one of the key reasons we broke the drought and won back-to-backs... we just don't want him on the field any more... it's plain to see his best days are long gone... all the best to him in Calgary.... I look forward to when he signs a one-day contract and retires a Bomber so we can properly celebrate him here
