Kelly did not play great all year. He played well. Even very good. But I'm not sure you can point to 1 or more games where Kelly made more plays than anyone else on that team.

I think the problem people have is not that Kelly wasn't very good... by all accounts he was... but Brady had a historically good season for a Canadian RB... so you'd think a QB would have to have something better than a "very good" season to beat him out... but this award was already decided in July... so hopefully it'll fire up our guys when it matters the most

Based on topics that came up in this weekend’s games:

    1. The Alouettes “dribble kick for a first down” play: like or dislike?

    2. If Zach struggles in the WF (and his post-season history suggests a non-zero percent possibility of this) should we consider bringing in Dru Brown to spark the offence, or do we sink or swim with Collaros and let him ride out the rough patch? How much rope does/should Collaros have?

    3. Pure hypothetical since none of this may come to pass, but if the Bombers had to pick between having Dru Brown or Chris Streveler on their roster next year, who do you choose?

This is a fun game... I'll play along

    1. It's kind of a stupid play... but then again, it's one of those quirky CFL things that is so lovable... let's keep it

    2. I think Zach's leash will be very long... Unless he's fumbling and throwing picks left, right and centre... or hurt... I don't see a scenario where he's pulled

    3. If we're ignoring the money... you'd have to think Streveler is the better option... though I am very intrigued by @Goalie's suggestion of a Brown/Streveler combo... maybe we win it all again this year and Zach decides he's had enough... if we could somehow secure both those guys... I would be very happy with that option

They will use the 1 game injured list.

Collaros will dress but not play.  Bet he plays first half vs Edmonton and that’s it before WF.

Oliviera won’t play in Calgary, might get a lot less reps than usual tonight.

Anyone else who is banged up at all will likely sit.

I know it's much easier to say this in hindsight... but Brady is 2 yards shy of 1500 rushing and 20 yards shy of 2000 all purpose... he'll get into the game just to reach those milestones.

On another note: was looking at the standings an schedules... Am I correct in saying that if our backups beat Saskatchewan this week and BC beats Calgary... does that set up a last weekend where Winnipeg will be playing it's equipment managers and waterboys against a Stampeder team who can win its way into the playoffs?

Imagine the howls from the rectangle...

Amazingly, Sask basically just needed to win one game down the stretch... and they might fail at that...

  5. Yes of course any team can win on any given day... but here's few stats to chew on over the last three seasons...

    - Bombers coming off a bye: 7-0... 9-0 if you include playoffs
    - Bomber against Edmonton: 7-0
    - 2021 first place clincher against BC: Bomber 45 - Lions 0
    - 2022 first place clincher against Edm: Bombers 48 - Elks 11

I like their chances... despite all the legitimate reasons to be nervous...

Having the 150th birthday party, having all of the legends come home to celebrate, having the decade by decade recaps on the screen, having it be in a game with no stakes or tension so we could just enjoy the fun, having it happen when we are Champions and have a real shot at doing it again...

Sincere wish: I hope you guys can feel this in 2030 for your 100th. It was special.

Side note: went down to a county fair near Lake Erie today with my SO as it's her family Thanksgiving tradition. It is definitely TiCat country down there and I was wearing a bright Cambridge blue Argo hoodie to represent. No TiCat fans said a thing to me, and there were quite a few out. But do you know who did chirp at me? A Sask fan in a Rider hockey jersey (that looked like it was bought on Wish...) who made it a point to step in front of me and inform me of how the Argos suck. I asked if he'd like to trade records or Grey Cup totals with us. He made a face like he was attempting to mentally do really hard differential calculus.

Oh we will enjoy the 100th anniversary... and there will be 30,000+ people there 😁

Riders fans are funny in that way... not sure how the fan base of the most inept franchise in all of professional sports became so arrogant 😂

  7. Interesting, I noticed looking at the remaining schedule that the Lions actually play both of their final two games before the Bombers step on the field again... by time they line up against Edm on Oct 21, they'll know if it's a must win (not actually bc they can still beat Calgary in game 18... but I'm sure the team would like to lock it up before that)

For fun, what’s everyone’s knowledge level of involvement playing or being around the football?
For myself I’m basically just a fan. I never had the frame to play the game past minor bantam (15).
Dad played/coached HS and Junior ball.

I’ve been going to Bomber games him since I was 3, taught me a lot from a very young age about how to watch football, especially the defensive backfield.
My expert area would be more so when it comes to the history of the game. I’m a massive history nerd on all levels, and I’d put my memory vault up against anyone in the world (besides maybe Stats Junkie)

That alone puts you ahead of a lot of people here... including myself... I have never stepped foot on a (organized) football field... I just starting going to Bomber games as a kid and fell in love with the sport and especially the team... I've had season tickets since 2004 and can't ever imagine not supporting this team... though I'll admit there was a time around 2014 when my patience was starting to wear thin

Meh, he was holding onto Bryant too. Bullrushed him and they fell over.

The goat and 4 time (5 time?) MOOL gets some things his way every now and then... definitely a missed call though

Quoting myself here as a bit of a mea  culpa… after watching it again, I agree with Bubba’s assessment… they possibly could’ve be called holding but Betts made it difficult on himself

Ball is such an embarrassment to this league. No wonder his fellow media hate him. Perfect for delusional Rider fans though.

It almost seems like a parody at this point... “imagine the voice of a professional football team was a clueless asshat who’s more obsessed with their rival than his actual team”… that would be a funny character

    it begins lol.
Vaj hasn’t complete 30 passes once this year he has 4 games with 1td or less. 5 game with as many picks as tds including the big ol 6 pick game. Of his 3 best performances 1 game was a loss and another was a near collapse. 4 games under 300 passing. And they didn’t miss a beat with out him winning both games by a combined 47-9. He’s been sacked 30 times this year.

Zach also hasn’t completed 39 passes in a game. He has 3 games with 1 td or less. He has 4 games with as many picks as ints. Including the pick 6 games. Zach has 8 games under 300 this year. And we also failed ok with our Zach. Zach has been sacked 24 times

kelly hasn’t completed more than 23 passes this year. He has 7 games with 1 td  or less. He has 6 games with as many picks as tds. He has 9 games under 300. Though he does have 8 rushing tds. Kelly has been sacked 9 times this year.

if you swapped vaj and Kelly, both teams would have the same record. If you swapped collaros onto tor or bc, they would at worst be as good. Toronto I think would be much better. Vaj on the bombers would be comparable, Kelly I think would be screwed.

None of these guys are markedly better, or deserving of a mop award. The real mop is Brady or defence

I could really use a Tim Robinson "Are you sure about that?" meme right about now...
