That one didn't bother me as much as the non-calls on pretty blatant holds, quite frustrating.

You can't just look at it from how many points he helped contribute. I'm not arguing for or against wanting Messam, but he did help keep our offense off the field ergo less time for us to score points. He had a good second half, props to him, nothing more, nothing less.

After reading a write-up about Mr. Jones in the Edmonton Journal today on his thoughts of pre-game coach banter and post game head coach handshakes, I think a few more might agree with you.

He has no use for them, think they are empty gestures and could care less what other people think about him. Charming. Out of the five games the Eskimos have played this year, he's shaken hands with one coach after the game. Reason. Micheal O'Shea ran over to him directly to congratulate him and there was nothing he could do. Jones believes coaches do this becuase they think they have to. Maybe some. But I think others, like O'Shea, do it out of respect and being a leader, whether they win or lose.

By all means, insert Watson with the understanding that if we get two consecutive quarters playing time out of him we're fortunate.

I don't want to sound rude or anything but you should really go out to a minor league football game, or even a touch football game….and try reffing.
That would put everything, regarding being a ref, in a different perspective for you.

    Absolutely no to both.

What happens when the cap is hit, it is open season on all players to do whatever they want?  Thats ridiculous.  If players can't play a clean game, they deserve the penalty.

They shouldn't be fined either.  Reffing is one of the toughest and thankless jobs out there.    Their performance should definitely be measured, assessed and graded. And if they are found wanting, then demoted / fired.  And that should be done behind the scenes and not made public.

You would think, and this is only a guess, that Dinwiddie is a better coach than he was a player. You would think.
Weird though that my wife, who never wants to watch football, wants to watch tonight when I told her Dinwifddie was with Montreal now. Weird.

Alright, week 2 here we go.

Bombers are moving the chains a lot more than their opposition thus far. Through two games, Winnipeg has gained 51 first downs and opponents have only gained 36. Winnipeg has also done an awesome job of preventing their own lack of discipline from continuing drives. After two games, they've only handed out 2 first downs as a result of penalties.

To get a sense of how much teams are avoiding Chris Randle - he has 1 tackle so far this year through two games. Teams are not interested in throwing against him and are feeling much safer throwing to the other corner - Matt Bucknor has 13 tackles.

Chris Randle and Johnny Sears added a pass knockdown each last game - Randle now has more knockdowns (2) than tackles (1)

Demond Washington joins Teague Sherman as the only Bombers with tackles for a loss.

Net offense through 2 games - 794 yards.

    I'll have more later.

Just in case anyone is interested in some of the statistics that don't show up in the regular box score.

Teague Sherman was the only Bomber to register a tackle for a loss, with a 16 yarder.

The Bombers had 5 pass knockdowns - Leggett with two, while Washington, Sears and Randle each had one.

The turnover plus/minus will officially go down as +1 as we technically gave up the ball to end the game (chalk this one up to poor clock management)

I'll try and update things like this each week.

He looked really composed tonight, very accurate and showed good decision making.  From my vantage point up top it looked like the one big error was staring down the receiver on his pick.  Seemed to feel the pressure well.  I'm excited.  It is one game though.  I just want to see continual growth. Contrary to what the fans in the bathrooms were shouting, I will not buy my Grey Cup ticket yet.

no there is a back of the line rule. You sucessfully get a player you drop to the bottom of waiver priority. I don't think however that a lot of teams were bidding on laurent. The story was that the only team that really did a lot of legwork on him were the esks and that it was unlikely anyone but them would be taking him. Everyone else was focussed on Poblah

Now that training camp is over and done with, we will be drawing for a gift card to the Bomber Store tomorrow. If you gave a report at any time during training camp on what you saw while you attended, you've been given an entry (each time) so check back tomorrow to see if you've won.

Thanks again to everyone who provided their insights throughout camp!

Weakest arm of the bunch is a relative statement.  He gets some grief for that but I'm pretty sure he can put enough zip on the ball to knock a tooth out of my face while I'm standing 15 yards away from him and explaining his lack of arm strength to him.

A strong arm allows a QB to force balls into tight coverage before the DB can react.  That sounds like a good thing, and it can be, but it can also be a crutch for QBs who aren't good at reading coverage, or a problem for QBs who think they can throw the ball hard enough to beat any coverage.  Known as a Bishop.  When a QB understands the CFL better he knows which passes are available to him on any given play.  Sometimes the out pass will be there for Hall, sometimes it won't.  He has to be smart enough to see it.  He seems pretty cerebral in his approach.  Last year he was a CFL rookie.  He had lot of NFL experience but history has shown that doesn't mean much.  He picked it all up pretty quick and ended up as our best QB last year (not saying much) despite being a rookie and having a "weak arm".

The goal is to win games this year, not accumulate the most project players.  Odds are that Hall as our backup gives us a better chance to do that than the other two, at least in the short term.  There is plenty of camp left to see what kind of challenge Brohm can put up.  Sounds like he mounted one today.
