I met the soon to be mother of my child at the Bomber game against B.C. our first date was August 3rd 2023 We beat the Lions 50-14, I had my last ever first date, Less then 2 years later, we have season tickets together, we bought a home, and we’re expecting our first kid together. A lot do amazing memories In a short amount of time, especially against the B.C. Lions! Go Bombers!

Something no one has mentioned so far was I thought Hogan called a hell of a game. We’re going to score a lot of points this season whether it’s number 17 or number 8, I really enjoyed some of the X’s and O’s He drew up. I think you’re going to see an opportunity for good receivers to make plays often in this offense.

Vanterpool in for Dobson is a major upgrade up front too. Vanterpool would be my player of the game. Here's a stat for you: Peterson averaged 130 yards per game in his last 2 years of U Sports. 130 yards rushing in his first CFL game. Took a few more carries to get there than it did in U Sports...but still.

Give some love to wheatfall too who looked like a legit threat out there.

Maybe it’s because we’ve seen the same stubborn loyalty to veterans for a few seasons and some people would like to see the team adopt a slight shift in philosophy so that it could potentially lead to winning the Grey Cup, not just being in it.

This game showed me why I'm glad Buck Pierce is the hell & gone as OC. Stev's best game of his pro career. He showed he can play qb. Changed up his fundamentals this off season. He showed that if you give him the entire playbook & not just make him a one dimensional raging ground warrior or gimmicky qb he can make the throws. For that we can thank LaPo & his protege Buck Pierce. Lapo had at least a bit of imagination with Streveler in 2018 & 19. He actually used him the best at the time considering back then his limitations as an actual qb plus his inability to read a CFL defense. Pierce OTOH was just sadistic expecting him to go out there & take the punishment that he did. I'm excited for Jarious Jackson as his position coach.

9 defensive tackles. 1 TFL, 7 other tackles within 5 yards of LOS. Not going to see many better games from a MAC LB in the league.

Strev - **** you to anyone who says he can't play QB Rookie RB - To not be overwhelmed in the moment is almost unbelievable, given the circumstances. Vaval - Not even our best returner and looked fantastic.. HH - The Trinity for walking around with a 2 footer and a wheelbarrow. Dear CFL, We just did that you your golden child without our QB, our MOP RB, our Returner, and not close to our best possible defense. Watch. The ****. Out.

Rolling out a lousy depth chart, not sure what to expect but......LFG!!!!!!!!

There’s no way the OL changes aside from injury. Take out Sterns, play one less American on D, drop Ayers or the returner….all things that happen before the OL changes. Just had 450 yards of offense with basically one half of Streveler in rhythm (never affected by rush on a drop back) and all but one drive with a guy who was playing against the Bisons 8 months ago at tailback. We can live without edge rush. OL is priority 1000%.

Bottom line is there were a hell of a lot of guys with standout games tonight and that is an amazing things IMO. What a statement to open the season.

2 main issues to me are, one WR injury away from Corcoran being out there every play and no DE depth for 2 guys in their 30s.

Because the DL depth sucks on the depth chart... they've got a linebacker listed as the only backup DE... they've got 3 Canadian DTs for some reason instead of proper DE depth. We can quibble about whether they made the right choices in terms of players at db or lb but what they did with the DL is a god damned disgrace from a positional perspective.

They'd be thin out of the gate to always have 2 Canadians out on D, but it wouldn't be that bad. You'd need 2 of Kramdi, Lawson/Thomas, Munier-Bailey, Shay, Smith, Gauthier, Hallett on the field on any given snap. Chances are we will have 2 of those guys on the field anyway. If the difference is QB having time to move the ball vs QB not having time to move the ball, it's a pretty easy call.

HH to Hogan who had a team put up 34 points and 450 yards without Zach and Brady. How many OCs have a team do that without their starting QB and RB?

Oh yeah one more thing. Why don't the Lions ever play Betts when they come to town? They could have really used him last night! Lolololol

I’ll never understand these type of posts. The majority of us are just shooting the **** offering up a variety of opinions on the great, the good and the bad of certain aspects of the BB. Its where we come to escape and play gm/coach/consultant. And my opinion with lots of in-depth analysis behind it is BC sucks.

Bit of hyperbole there - nobody was saying it was the end of the world, just expressing their displeasure with the line-up. The coaches may have been right but they were also fortunate. They rolled the dice & fielded a team that was very thin in certain positions (DL, WR) but luckily they made it through with no injuries at those spots.

I wouldn't start Mitchell based on salary. Maybe you give him an extended look because of what he did in the past and maybe you think he had a bad camp, in that case I'd take off sterns. I wouldn't take off wheatfall for him.

I understand what you’re saying, but the win doesn’t mean people were wrong about their roster concerns. We fortunately didn’t have any injuries at WR or on the D line. Injuries there would’ve been tough to overcome, given how thin the lineup was. I still think the roster could’ve been constructed better, but that was a fun game to be at and a hell of a win.

Yeah lapo in year 2 made him a gimmick and then Pierce had his head up his ass last year and didn't let streveler throw for some stupid reason. Last night is basically the qb he was in year one.

I think the biggest playoff problem at qb has simply been Zach has by and large sucked in the big games.

Bailey over Kornelson makes a lot of sense. MOS not so much. So 9 linebackers, are we using a ton of 3-4? A rookie Canadian WR as the only back up is also a head scratcher. I wish we had media that actually asked MOS questions.

Don't like Jonathan Jones being scratched. Should have been Kyrie. Don't like only one American DT. Kornelson feels like Win A Day as a Bomber (yuck).

Pierce will be so dumbfounded that Strev will drop back and throw some passes.

Has anybody done a welfare check at TSN? Suitor and Farhan have to be devestated at the underperformances of Betts and Rourke. Kate has to be questioning everything she holds to be true having now seen what an actual sellout crowd looks and sounds like.

He’s very legit. What I really liked from his running last night was that out side of his big run, he still gained great yardage consistently. He wasn’t busting 10+ or getting stuffed. He fought for yards was able to push forward a bit on some tough plays too. Good blocker, great effort guy. Much better speed than you’d expect. The fact we started out the year soo well with strong execution on both sides of the ball from the first bell, despite missing our qb1 and mop rb, after the mess of a month and a half to start last year is a real testament to the value they got out of camp this year. We even lost a bunch of coaches and front office guys. But despite all that this was the hungriest and most prepared team breaking camp we’ve seen since 21.

4 yrs yunger than ZC is now Vaughters helped a lot...Lawson did as well...Adams was huge....he should never have been parked as much as he was last yr....

That’s why we put Dave Donaldson and Markus Howell out there. Elite defenders.

Peterson was a 4th round pick by the Ti-Cats last year. He attended training camp with the Cats then went back to school.

I really like the play call by hogan. Some great passing concepts really putting Strev in a great position.

Why is the depth chart lousy cuz the guys who complain about literally everything says so? Cuz why. Guys who they hype up aren’t on the AR yet? Cuz ppl complain about let me guess. Cuz Jake Thomas right. Or cuz a rookie American rb isn’t on the roster eventho we have the best rb in the league. But hey Greg mcrae cuz that worked out so well or wait Damian Jackson who actually played special teams and made some tackles. I mean why is the depth chart lousy ? Cuz 4 ppl say so?

It is relevant. Injuries affect everyone differently. don't know how that injury will affect him. He may be able to put it out of his mind & play or it may change his style of play. As Booch said on another thread, Streveler has reinvened himself as a qb throwing the new way so his fundamentals now are very good. I"ve been following Chris on Instagram this off season in Arizona & I've sent video clips to Booch & others here so we've all seen the transformation. He doesn't look like a qb who just wants to be known for his tough running ability anymore. He want to be known as a qb who can win games with his arm as well for the Bombers. This is his time to show he can play.

I'm interested to see what Hogan does. Streveler has a really quick release and to me he looked a lot more confident in his pre-snap reads in pre-season. I don't think we'll see him hold the ball very long. But he's not like Collaros where he's always looking vertical. Very different skill sets as passers.

Why was this so watchable?
