  2. The cover teams played really well without the extra ST linebacker. More proof that you don’t need to keep Singer off the roster for a guy like Hazen.
  3. it's up to the coaches to have the intelligence to teach and show...explain...heck do it themselves to get the point across if need be....Seen that first hand too... of even the most basic stuff at yes...the pro level. Also to recognize that this player...or that player is piss poor in tackling, blocking...recognition of say a blitz...and either "coach" them up....or put on the big boy pants which comes along with actual ability to evaluate talent...and or assess it. We fail repeatedly in this regard...over and over and over. To say it's not the coach's fault or to throw blame at them for players failures, or inability to do the most basic things...game in and game out, many times it's the same culprits is laughable and one the poorest and dare I say stupidest excuses ever uttered here. They put these duds on the roster, they create the game plan and schemes, and should be doing things to suit particular talents of the guys they rostered. They run the practices to prepare a team for each game...and poor execution from players is from a lack of good preparation...inability to maximize a player(s) skill set...or the recognition that a particular player is just not good enough. That's all coaching failure...plain and simple. @GCn20 you were on your soapbox saying that reason some guys are not getting a chance and rot on the PR or are imprisoned in a backup role or ST only is because they aren't any better...Your words not my putting in your mouth. So just from the last game alone explain how Singer is not a better option than Cobb/Corcoran....and actually Nield too, to have had him parked on the PR all yr...despite many who saw practice...media...and coaches saying he just makes plays every day...tho your intel you said he not on roster because he is unimpressive in practice and isn't grasping the offence. Same with Smith...whenever he got a chance he just made plays...is prob our best defender consistently overall and had to have guys get hurt to display that as an actual starter, and he is just a second yr guy...showing you don't need to stagnate a guy for 2..3 yrs..if you have talent and can play...you play Same with Griffin..was apparent for better part of 2 yrs he was the best SAM option we had...yet wasn't given the job and wasn't due to a ratio requirement. But finally got to take in the role and was our best defender until he got hurt Clercius as well....offers more and does more than Cobb...Corcoran...Neild, and Daniels...but alas he plays second and third fiddle until just recently...And it not a case of he "just figured it out" now.... All those examples and there are others point directly to the HC and his either inability to see what's the better option...refuses to see it to feed his bias....or just has no clue on how to evaluate talent to maximize his roster....which isn't a stretch when we see how with just the example of how he wastes DA spots game in and game out...for yrs now Sure players need to make plays...but also if they are not prepared properly and working within a scheme that makes sense and actually works, then doesn't matter who is on field bang on....coaching is lacking here big time...cant see the obvious...minimal ability to counter act...and no stones to make a tough decision
  4. I thought they should have gone for two in the moment. Bombers have made both their two point convert attempts this year, and historically the league has been hovering around 45-50%. You are riding the high of momentum with that last minute TD drive and the Riders are back on their heels. A few things working towards just finishing it off on that one play in no particular order 1. Tiebreaker - If the Bombers had missed they are down 1 in the tiebreaker, now they are down 6 (and could have been 8) 2. Bombers are among the worst teams in TD drive percentage, and similarly in RD TD % 3. Saskatchewan is one of the better teams in TD drive percentage, including RD TD % 4. On defense, the Bombers are one of the worst teams for opponents drives turning into touchdowns, they are middle of the pack when the opponent gets into the red zone though 5. On defense, the Riders are middle of the pack in preventing teams from driving for a TD %, but they are the best at preventing teams from scoring TDs when they are in the end zone 6. You are on the road, and the offense was having issues with the crowd noise (as evidenced with that time count in OT... why not call your timeout there?!?) Wilson was banged up earlier in the quarter... I don't think he was available so you are missing one of your big play makers I think the scales were tipped way towards... lets try to finish this off ASAP
  5. It really was. Not an excuse for losing, no but the reffing crews really need to figure out what forward progress entails. Correct me if I’m wrong but if a ball carrier voluntarily moves backward toward the line of scrimmage, previous forward progress is negated. Multiple times including on a crucial series, Sask WRs moved backward before any contact and the refs placed the ball 1-3 yards forward from where the tackle ended up being made. Pass interference and no yards are also super inconsistent. It’s ridiculous. We don’t have progression on either side of the ball schematically from what I can see. We’re so passive on defence in strategy and it’s bled into on field play. No aggression whatsoever. No one makes plays, we wait for the other teams to bugger something up and if they don’t it’s basically “Oh well, everyone tried hard and we’ll watch some film”
  6. Clercius played 1st..got hurt..been back last 5...but watching cobb and neild while he injured..and since he back..both should be behind him in reps and depth. Singer yes played..but only cause of injury which is just plain idiotic..we both know if not for that he still be rotting on PR Thats not an isolated incident either
  7. and obviously he is not 100 percent mobility wise as he been braced up last 2 games (if nobody has noticed)...so is a sitting duck....but leave him in to get punished and try and do long developing plays.....foolish coaching given the flow of the game...they cant decipher game flow and how to manage, let alone combat it if it slapped them in the face I also dont think Elsbury is calling out the right things...Rarely see him point out the MIKE or who occupies that spot in certain sets in order to call the blocking protection...nor is he recognizing what fronts the defence is showing to make the call for the guards to know their gap and man responsibilities, or if they have no initial responsibility and need to go second level and pick up a LB all the free guys coming at our QB is from his inability to either see, or recognize any dline shift/loop or the showing of a last second blitz and changing protection call...be it to slide, scoop...gap and the whole line knows to adjust as a unit...all the confusion we see and at times them looking like keystone cops tells me the center isnt making the right blocking calls. And really what a shock for a raw "american" rookie seeing a lot of stuff for the first time...ever... and screwing that up...Makes sense cause so many times when the defences run different things we seem to not know who to block....That goes right back again to poor coaching and poor coaching decision with who's playing. Our line has never looked worse...and there is a reason why....and the stupidest part of it is we are wasting a American spot sorely needed elswhere ZC is gonna make the pre snap and overall audibles the center is the right hand/traffic cop in making the primary identification calls, and then any adjustments required based on what he see's...and he failing badly there....plus his snaps are all over map further messing up rhythm and timing
  8. I don't think that is a blameworthy decision. I do think going for it gives you the best chance of winning, but that is also hotly contested. For me, complete 1 offensive play of 5 yards, or hope your D can stop a td and or 2 point, then have the O drive for a major and/or score a 2-point. Possibly having to repeat that many times. I think going for it gives you the best chance of winning, but playing for OT gives you multiple chances to win. After watching this team underachieve consistently over the past 2-ish years, I would not bet on the O and D coming together at just the right time and doing everything it takes to win the shootout.

I'll give Daniels some time to grow into a pro.... However that growing is as a special Teamer or pr player not as a regular. We've given chris-ike that development path, let's see if he can make some plays cause he's got some burst to him
  10. Can you tell me the game plan as you saw it? I actually saw nothing of the kind. I saw no adjustments at halftime. Osh approves the game day roster. Who plays & who sits. Coordinators draw up a supposed game plan. They call the plays. To say they aren't to blame is absolutely ludicrous.
  11. basically if we did a lil adapting...adjusting...sprinkled in some good coaching...a bit different decision making...we win....I agree...we lost cause of the coaching...again... yup...poor decision to go that route game 1...Sadly it seemed it was pre-decided going into camp anyway...3 Cdn receivers and an import center...regardless of what transpired in camp and if another player(s) showed to be the better route...gee where have we seen that before?... And then an even poorer decision to maintain their stance on it after 3..4 games when it was obvious it was a real weakness....and again....how many times we seen that?? And yeah with ZC he is making some decisions now also based on self-preservation...almost fear to stay safe cause he is hindered now in navigating the pocket, and effects a lot of his passes.

5th receiver ain't making a difference is such a disingenuous argument.... If you got a guy there who can make plays it forces the defense to account for them which should give the other guys more space. When you're trying to do receivers by committee why the **** handicap yourself with a backup level Canadian starting?

I adore how some out there in internet land (e.g., Trevor Connor from hockey feed whoever that may be) and CH's agent are suggesting that because CH and his agent privately informed Chevy early in the summer he wanted to be traded out of Wnnipeg and its being reported that teams like Florida and Buffalo were interested but are saying Chevy either delayed on and/or refused offers made that Chevy is at fault to where they are at now, i.e., no deal made, uncertainty abound as the 2026/2027 season begins because hey Chevy didn't get a deal done and he had gobs of time. I'm sorry, what? I find the first word coming to my mind when reading this are blowhards. I'm sorry, is Winnipeg suppose to bend over backwards to ensure CH's request to get out of his longterm generous signed contract with Jets is expedited even if Winnipeg takes a hit in what we get back for him because Chevy thinks it's a deal that isn't satisfactory but the critic/agent thinks no it's a fair deal or we don't want to wait anymore, take it? I'm sorry, who is the GM here? Please. I strongly believe Chevy is in a position of strength (regardless of how the upcoming season goes with wins and losses) not the other way around like the above people I mentioned are suggesting. And this personal stuff apparently going on behind the scenes with how his wife has been treated by certain parts of the Winnipeg public online and/or in person are two separate issues and one should not dictate how the other is handled.
  14. Lets look at the roster deployment. We focus heavily on special teams, and our special teams have for the most part been great..... We also give Younger and the defence what appear to be all it wants, look at the depth, the rotation, the ratio he gets, then flip it to the offence..... It seems like the whole offence is almost an after thought, 3 CDN receivers, CDN RB Ike to back up, but he is really a special teamer.....one back up Oline in Eli, and another CDN receivers to back up all , with a CDN rookie TE, who is still wet behind the ears..... Now with a roster make up like this you would expect the specials to be great...and check mark, they are....but you should also expect your defence to be great....I mean if you allocate your resources so heavily into one faucet it should yield you big returns.....but our defence isn't yielding those big returns ....not equal to the allocation of assets anyway ... So what do we do, do we keep giving our specials everything they need, do we keep allocating what's left over almost exclusively to the defence.....or do we look at the offence and try to balance our portfolio better, and see if the losses from pulling a guy or two from specials and/or defence to get a guy like Singer on the roster....does adding a guy like Singer give you a net bigger return overall???? Sure seems like it does.....so the burning question is.....why didn't we try weeks ago....and will we try moving forward or does Singer get SAT again when we are healthy in favour of specials and defence.....yet again.....
  15. Yeah, not even close to 100%. He isn't in the late stages of Nichols, but he makes decisions as if he can still go crazy legs, and he can't. Elsbury is such a disappointment. He's a true rookie, so that is tough, but he shouldn't be starting at all. Its not easy, but you don't see imp interior OL that often either. This is as bad as our OL has played since the first year bob took over coaching it.
  16. On the other hand a few wins against Western opponents and we're in... Which isn't so far fetched. Couple plays go the other way wins against Edmonton and Saskatchewan were there for the taking in recent weeks.
  17. The 2026 edition of the Bombers have given little reason for optimism. Should the TiCats go on a bit of a roll, Bombers are out of the playoffs.
  18. Whatever happened to the 'ol trick play' Bombers used to employ a long time ago....We have no desire to go in that direction but what we have become is too gawddamned predictable....We have also become too complacent and when a game change is needed, just stick with the same ol same ol...Other teams have figured us out....just wait us out till the second half because nothing will have changed....I don't know what the coaching staff actually talks about during the half-time but it isn't planning a 'change-up' on the opposition...Maybe we just don't have that capacity and if we don't WHY....The game plan seems to run similar to the 'roster' moves....stick with it until it runs aground ....Some of the reasons we aren't in a higher position in the standings
  19. Curious if nothing is ever the coaches fault, what is it you think they do exactly?
  20. That decision should've happened in the LDC too. But Mos will not do that unless zach is really hurt. Part of the problem is our "max protect" install is worse than our 5-man + Brady. Part of that is running fewer/lower quality back up OL, part of that is not even using the guys we have well. Put Eli, MCI, and Clercius out with Brady. You can go 21, or 12 formation and put Clercius in a tight slot to make trips. Force the D to iso a guy, or give you a lopsided protection edge. You really need to be successful running out of that, though, because we don't have guys who can win 1on1 battles in the wr core. Instead, we default primarily to a 6 wr empty backfield set with Brady doing little more than playing a distraction. And Ds are not biting on Brady lined up wide out anymore. I mean, with all the empty backfield we run, why haven't we run a quick screen game to Brady from the wide-out spot? You are pushing guys out of the box; put Brady 1-on-1 in space with a DB.
  21. If you can't block with max protect then don't run it and hit guys quick in open space? Sounds like a coaching adjustment... So then coach him to be quicker or replace him with the backup qb you have who can get the ball out quicker
  22. His name should be Tommy Nein.
  23. I don't know how anyone can defend the coaches. If I am the opposing team: Late in a game if you need a score: Run 7-8 yard routes. We know our QB will have time and the receiver will have a 5 yard cushion. Late in the game if you need a stop: Blitz. We know the Bombers have zero ability to beat it. Apparently "Touch down Tommy" was referring to the ball hitting the ground.
  24. The right call is always to go for OT. Always. Every coach ever will tell you that.
  25. I think the rationale is that pushing it to OT you give your team the option to make the play. Going for two you literally get one shot. End of the day, we just didnt make the necessary plays. I dont know if going for 2 would have changed that scenario.

Or why Osh could have possibly thought Cobb was a better option at boundary receiver than Singer?
  27. I have no clue as to what the offensive game plan was...no rhyme or reason to any of it Defensively mostly appeared to be the same stuff...we have no progression in anything.. added no new wrinkles and are very predictable, making us exploitable when it matters most

yup....this notion the 5th is a waste of space and not gonna see balls anyway is dumb logic Look back at our cup wins...all 5 guys were a threat...made plays...and had to be accounted for...same with the good teams now...no guy is out there as a starter and after 12 games is averaging 1.5 catches a game for a sparkling 11 yards a game Just look at 2018 for example...Woli was our 5th guy behind Demski..,Darvin Adams...Dressler and Bowman...went 45 for 650...5 td's 2019...we had Woli..Adams...Lawler..Demski..Whitehead/Bailey..no duds there...We even moved on from Mathews thatyr who was in some kind of haxe...and still had a Peterman and Grant as backups 2021 we had Adams..Demski..Woli..Lawler..Bailey with BOLO and Grant...again...where is the useless slug? 2022...Schoen..Demski..Bailey..woli...then Ellingson but got hurt and filtered thru some guys..Agudusi..Harrison....but still had BOLO and Grant...nowhere to be seen where the likes of a Cobb or Corcorran..A not ready for prime time Daniels...and we been sliding ever since that yr trying to replace None of those yrs did we have to employ a guy..let alone 2 that had minimal impact...all those guys were a legit threat coaching is the underlying problem because they choose the roster....it aint ZC being asked who he wants out there. Further complicating things..and again leads right back to coaching is the void we have at center...never thought I would say I wish Kolo was still here...He may have been low tier as a center but he made the right calls for most part

Unless coaching is being counted as 3 separate issues it absolutely is a top 5 problem on offense....
  30. That’s right. I meant when Demski comes back they can still leave Singer on for Hazen without really losing anything.
  31. 100%. Basically, they are being left to make too many decisions too late. Especially in the Cover 2 scheme, we've used entirely too much, with 2 canadian Ss. The field is too wide, and the deep cover guys are horribly unreliable. Which means handoffs and pickups are a severe struggle, and the two Ss have to wait till much later to pick a side or risk leaving another opening. Cover 3, 4, and 5 have been the meat and potatoes of match zone and split field zone for as long as those have been used up here. We have reinvented the wheel and replaced it with a square. We even saw JY go back to the cover 9 drop 3 we ran a few years ago, but even that didn't accomplish any thing.
  32. Idk about the D. The Lber DIs are basically for teams. Woodbey is cooked, we don't have the proper DI DB that is reliable any more, its all a mess. The O is a worse mess though for sure.

  34. Blitz pick-up primarily goes to the QB, but also to the C, and the pressured gap blocker. Especially the vets we have; they should be doing a much better job of identifying and calling out pre-snap alignment. Everyone knows how Zach is with pressure; we've made the calls at the line in the past with some of the same guys. They know what needs to happen. A good chunk of blitz blame goes to Condell as well. Every week's install needs to have a few things, no matter who you play. One of the biggest needs each week is a package to counter pressure. The messed-up thing is that we have seen Condell do this very well with both Brown and Zach this year. One game each, he came ready with different fast-paced installs that beat pressure. The problem is, he packs his install with 1 concept. Fast 1-step drop with heavy pre-snap read requirements, or Quick screens and timing plays, etc. Instead of packing a Swiss Army knife each week, he packs 1 tool and uses it like a hammer. If it doesn't work, we are cooked. His offence doesn't even set up anything off that 1 basic concept. We could've used wheel routes and pump-and-goes and so much more in the two weeks we had success beating pressure with execution speed. That is how you really put teams away too. You beat a team with a concept a bit, then you counterpunch as soon as they show signs of adjusting and wallop them. We used to see the play-action half roll screen option with jet/meteor sweep. Sometimes we slid protection and moved the pocket to disrupt the rush; sometimes it was a full bootleg, but it was always the crosser, the deep comeback, the quick dump-off to the jet guy in front, or the check down to the RB coming up from behind. It was bread and butter around here from late Lapo through Buck and Hogan. We've only seen it a couple of times this year, but it has worked well when we did it. Zach is extremely comfortable doing it, and it puts the D in a bind with who they cover. We aren't gonna change Zach. And we aren't going to fix our OL mid-season. We need to run the offensive installs around those facts and build in extra padding for those thin areas. I fear we also aren't going to change Condell at this point. The only chance at building anything sustained with the offense is if control is taken from TC. Bring in someone, maybe Lapo, give play-calling duties over to Hogan, or my first choice, let Zach call the O.
  35. It applies to everyone. If you can't deal with a blitz at this level your team is unprepared. Look how ineffective bomber blitzes are. The opposition reads it and knows where an option is going to be.
  36. I played sports. When we lost we always blamed the coaches eventho they weren’t the ones playing. In the end we all knew we lost cuz we just weren’t good enough. We didn’t have enough talent and the other team played better, the other team made mistakes and we didn’t capitalize on it on the field. Coaches coach but during the games, players play and need to execute. Ours don’t consistently.
  37. I agree that a lot of casuals would have been upset to lose that way... but think most around here would've been in favour of going for two... just speaking personally, I was in favour of it at the time... The offense actually had some momentum, it shows the coach has confidence in his guys to get it done... and for once, we'd actually be playing to win rather than playing not to lose... And as @ShyGuy mentioned, there was no scenario where an OT loss would be a better point differential... if we lose this one by one, and win by a FG next week, we have the season series...
  38. They seem to have reverted back to their old ways. Slow to respond to anything. Living in a fantasy world that this 2021 & guys like Bryant, Collaros & Neufeld are in their primes. It's gonna be a long 2.5 years.

he has decent hands, too bad he doesn’t really have any thing else going for him. I’m a big believer in the 11 formation and what TEs could do in the cfl with a modern offence. Sadly, daniel’s is one of our worst picks in the mafia era. He hasn’t once shown good physicality even against guys 60-80lbs lighter than him. He’s got no positive athletic traits, no raw talent, and no skills other than decent hands. Schmekel is a limited tool guy, but he’s got tons of heart and hustle. He battles on every snap physically. I’d rather run him at te then daniel’s.
