100%. Woodbey was spinning like a top in Edmonton. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets demoted, sat for Jaworski/Dixon if they think one of them is ready or recast as more of a DE. Jones is injured. As much as people want to **** on him he's probably the best run-stopping/blitzing LB we have.

It's awfully funny and a perfect summation of our roster management. That said, I do actually really like the guy. He is that fringy tweener wil/sam size guy who is better than you'd think in the pass game and an absolute dog in the box. He's smart, loves playing, and plays bigger and faster than he is. If he pans out, and he's a high-floor guy imo, he'd be a lot better than Tony Jones. He isn't just an overachieving effort guy either; he was a 4-star player out of hs. He's got Bighill esq size and measurable questions that hurt his chances, but he's bounced around 4 nfl teams for a reason. We don't have room for 2 imp backup LBers, but we are doing it anyway. In a week or two Id swap Hazen for Tezino in a heartbeat. This might also be due to Tony jones getting banged up. After weeks of inactivity, the fact that this is the move we make is just sick though.

I think that speaks more to the overall dysfunction in the organization - that the GM either agrees with these decisions by the HC, or let's the HC have more control over these types of decisions. It's not meddling in any pro sport for a GM to have significant input into not only finding talent, but which talent stays and goes, it's their job! Coaches - thanks for your input, but your job is to coach the talent given to them. Fans here forget that in every pro sport GM's hire and fire HC's. The dysfunction here is the Canadian mafia seems to forget that and operate like some kind of kumbaya collective.

You are in luck! Going into Week 12 the Bombers opponents were 39/110 for a success rate 35.5 percent at 2nd and 7+, which was good for 3rd in the league behind Saskatchewan and BC. The 2nd and 14 you mentioned wouldnt count as a success in your stat, and the Bombers were 13/15 on 3rd and 0-2 which is 7th in the league. 35.5% is historically better than average for a defense, back to 2023. FWIW the Bombers are above average in preventing TDs in the red zone, below average in preventing TD drives overall, and exactly average at forcing 2 and outs (although they are RiGHT THERE for a 3 way tie for 3rd)

Honestly I am less concerned with letting a guy like Bryant go out on his own terms vs how long we hold guys on PR and on roster who do NOTHING and become NOTHING in this league....Woodbey right now is a good example. We've had a bunch of guys we've held onto for 2-3-4 years at the bottom of roster/PR who suck. Jamal Parker, Devin Adams, Eric Lofton, Kody Case, Marquise Bridges, Vanterpool, Garbutt, Haba, Drew Richmond, Carlton Agudosi, Lucky Ogbevoen and Fab Weitz to name a few. We've almost never used the Global spot beyond the punter. Tons of guys that a good rotational DL out there that qualify....lots of guys that would be fine as 6th-7th OL and free up another spot. Give you actual cover for a Canadian spot. We just hold guys on PR that never play.

I raced a kid (16) on the football team I coached a few years ago. I was chirping a few guys that their 40+ yr old coach could outrun them. I was an athlete back in the day and ran track so I figured I still had some speed left. Deal was I had to race a db or rec but I got to choose which one. a sad reality just peeking around the corner...If we lose this week...which is a 99.5% certainty if we change nothing...and that's a 99.5 certainty as well, and CGY beats the Elks...we in the basement at the 11 game mark of the season Then we have MTL..SSK..SSK...BYE...TO..MTL...CGY...EDM I have a real hard time seeing us crawl outta the gutter looking at that next 7 game stretch as we likely are 6 and 11 after that...Maybeeeee 7 and 10 but that's being ultra optimistic...especially if with that bye wedged in there we just stand pat with the excuses and justification of the what's and why's...which also is probably a 90 percent certainty We also close out vs BC who could be playing for a position in standings too so wont be sitting anyone It could quite possibly be a tasty lil 7 and 11 season....and a continuation of the current 5 yr slide...5 yrs!!! and significantly worse than previous...... Definitely not going to get us 3rd, and high chance of no cross over as a 4th place finish in West is a pipe dream with 7 wins, and even then...that may not even cut it for the crossover

I'd be curious to know the dynamics if anyone is approaching Walters or he himself is approaching his coaches and making suggestions for roster changes. Seeing guys like Mauldin who had 2 sacks who can come in and play for a season are quick fixes the club could (should) make. Geno Lewis can't possible be any worse then Gavin Cobb. Maybe bring back Houston for a 3rd (4th) time... I have no idea who is out there, but looking at other teams I'm continously seeing new names on gameday rosters. Some of them end up sticking. After ten games how many fresh faces have they tried out?

Watching Oleary Orange go up and make that catch in double coverage after watching Cobb flail away against Ottawa, was sad. You think a guy who sits on the bench/PR all year and watch Cobb or any number of other less talented players or even just guys who don't get the job done will want to re-sign with team? You can blame Walters, but again...signing players is a two way street. The players have to want to be here too. And if they feel like they won't get the chance to prove themselves because of a head coach....why would they stay?

Woodbey doesn't move or process quick enough to fill any roles they've tried him in yet. Put him down at contain end and maybe he'll be ok. Otherwise put someone out there who might make a play. So many chances 1 on 1 with Rankin last week and Woodbey lost all of them. Never gets to the ball in coverage.

Shay hasn't gotten a sniff of playing D, and even in pre-season was limited in reps. Hard to say what we have there. Woodbey still isn't back to where he was last year but I hope he gets back to that level and continues growing.

Here’s the thing Firing Walters does nothing right now. Like it’s business as usual really and possibly worse if McManus is gm in the future , just no there. Just a gut feeling he’d be awful. Other options yes like the Canadian crew but it does nothing to the product on the field. Firing O’Shea fixes the O’Shea problem but the Tommy problem is still around, the Younger problem is around. I mean after the collapse both our coordinators can go really. If O’Shea goes then Tommy and younger need to also. That does stuff to the on field product. Thing is tho, you need the gm to have that guy in waiting ( call him lapolice) unless it’s Jake , ppl might laugh but he’d be cheaper. So Kyle needs to stay. I’m not overly sure the talent Kyle has brought in is sufficient or not, some haven’t had a proper chance. So, it’s O’Shea and the coaches. Hall sticks around as interim DC for remainder of season as a favour to lapolice then retires. You can then reevaluate Kyle in the off season and see cuz I’d treat the rest of this season as an extended 27 training camp. That means no Zach no Stan no Kyrie etc. 6 gamed. And I’m not sure if that talent is sufficient because they all sit on the pr or dress and don’t play. And that’s on O’Shea and the other coaches. Kyle when he goes after FAs is solid. Kyle when we have a higher 1st is a solid draft guy. All the guys I would like to see play are guys Kyle brought in, Kyle and the scouts. The guys who I think are very good are all mainly Walters signings or draft picks (or scouts) Demski. Broxton. Brady. Willie was a FA signing. Reese Has some skill. Woodbey is solid. Smith is a drafted Canadian. Williams has been ok as a rookie, the other 3 can be 6 gamed.

I bet Smith becomes a all-star and a top Canadian defender...he was mired there. Who knows who else could be if you dont try them? Thats the issue...cant evaluate a guy on the PR or running up and down on ST 5 times a game And practice wont do it either...you will see work ethic and thats about it If a guy is still lost in the playbook, makes same errors over and over or just for lack of a better word sucks in technical aspects of his game...why we keeping them?,,,If the HC cuts them pretty sure the GM would restock the PR.. WHAT??...The HC decides who stays and who goes...not the G.M...Who built the PR...The roster...and picks the game day product?....Not the G.M If a HC says to his G.M based on my evaluation this guy...that guy....those 2 over there are all keepers so retain them please....I dont like that FA...or that one...Dont fit my vision and i dont like the skill set...my group of old decaying guys are better...should he not trust in him?....Or should he meddle and doubt his assesment....foster doubt in other coaches and players...demand ho plays...And become the Ott Rouhriders of the Glieberman era? Our problem was Oshs insistence and influence to ride guys to dust..and not know when to let go We missed out on a lot of FA who could prob still been here cause we hung onto guys too long It aged and degraded us substantially with a whole core of guys instead of a guy here and there if done right. Plus the fact he seems to have no inclination to play young guys or new guys to gain valuable experience..or essentially win a job and then when we have injuries we screwed cause we either dont trust a guy so play a sub 100 percent player..or are forced to play someone who is hampered from no play time..or just dont know what we have cause he would rather roster his favs who are garbage. We seeing that with dbs and receivers this yr...DL for multiple yrs...and LB's too..took 3 yrs for him to realize Griffin was our best option...and if not for his injury Smith prob still be used sparingly

Bombers practicing today and their opponents aren't! Brady continues to sit practice out. Sticking with the Ankle designation so probably nothing new. Nichols (Ankle) and Bryant (Ankle, same as last week but he made 2 practices) join him on the sidelines. Kramdi a full participant

Thanks for this... I figured the stats wouldn't necessarily align with the "feel" of it... in that example drive, it "felt like" the Bombers gave up 3 consecutive 2nd and long conversations... but in reality, it was 1/3

unfortunately a 6-7 win team might be the best thing to happen to this management (coaches included)... maybe it'll wake them up... or, they'll continue on the path of complacency...

Woodbey was rough to start the year too before he got hurt. Don't think at this point he is worth playing. The fact that it was such a slog to get smith starting when he looks good at whatever position he is out at is a huge red flag that it's a bigger coaching using players than the exact players issue.

He'll never see the field. Even if he is the best linebacker on the team. Osh will never play him.

I'm over the Woodbey experiment. That missed tackle against Rankin was god awful and honestly pathetic. He's a back-up and likely a solid ST. But no way I'd want him starting anymore.

Considering we are worst in league in run defence...Maybe thats a bonus?..Smith has been really good in run support tho..

Wheatfall has 26 less yards than our leader Demski..more than white or pokey...more than neild/Corcoran/Daniels combined..and his 16.6 ypc beats any of our guys..I see how he not good enough to be on this roster..plus hes been playing with what..4 diff qbs and most yr with no real legit starter...yup...we would suck more with him

Osh in sny gm capacity and final say in player signing/releasing would be kiss of death and we would be even worse than we are now with badically no hope The cap thing isnt as big an issue as many think..especially if you just can coach...mid season just interm someone...end of yr find the replacement...we can get out of his salary 2 ways...the previously mentioned escape allowed once...or he signs elsewhere which I sure would happen..and even if not for a yr..so be it..if there's the will there's a way He's ran his course here..it happens to every successful.. formerly successful coach

Thanks. I would still suspect the primary outcome will be no major change; Mac and Hall move on in the offseason. We will see what the appetite is around the mafia for struggling though.

I think we are beyond the internal head coach promotion. Our guys were picked over by other organizations already.

The point is, O'Shea doesn't use options he has, so what difference does signing someone new make? I agree that Kyle Walters needs to slap some sense into O'Shea to make changes when things don't work but can we please stop pretending that it's all a talent issue and nobody can possibly be better than what they're rostering now?
