We do have enough talent laying around to out-talent some teams on any given week but I think it’s safe to say O’Shea is far and away the worst head coach in the league that isn’t named Dinwiddie at this point Roster management, allowing his DC to run wild with inefficiency, stubborn as a mule, team never showing up prepared, the list can go on and on His time here has come and gone

In Younger's system there's an overwhelming fear of allowing big plays and it basically prevents the defense from having the ability to make big plays. You can't just flip a switch and decide that the game is on the line so we need to change up our mentality now. We need to play that way for 60 minutes. And that mentality is being coached.

Castillo has always gone through runs of the Yips. I don't think anything has changed in particular with him. Wilie has been the best we've seen from him in a couple of years. The rotation and actual rushers at the other positions have breathed new life into him. He still sucks at option and isn't great in the run game, but as a pass rusher, he's doing everything we could want. Nichols played very well last night as well, until he got hurt. Who knows how that will shake down, but he and Moxey did their jobs well. Injuries and the score forced us into a more vanilla D, and that's when and why the D improved last night. Jy has been making some strange calls. We saw the secondary stay in a shallow zone from a pre snap blitz read like robber early on, only we didn't have the high man to make robber work, and we just got beat. He ran some rotating cover and just not well-fit packages. I will also say, we used Smith a lot more on D last night, and he gave us some great snaps. I don't love how we are deploying him, but he's still filled a lot of what we lost when Woodbey went down. The failures were so across the board and diverse, it's not one guy or 5 guys. It's coaching and preparation. No one on the OL should be missing pre-snap alignments or pick ups like we saw. Bryant knows better than to leave Brady 1-on-1 with a DE. The fumbles, the blown assignments, it's all 3 phases at almost every position group. The amount of time it took us to adjust and get Zach out of the pocket and give him proper blitz beaters was awful. I like JY a lot, and Marty, TC, etc. But that was a thorough failing of coaching, for the second week in a row. And that can't keep happening.

this is your courtesy reminder that last year our D finished first in the league in points allowed. It was quite good by the only metric that matters. How else do you think we won eleven games with Hogan as OC? saw the same pattern in this game as in Calgary: our D was pantsed by Rankin in the first half and then solved him in the second half and gave us a chance to win. The goat horns for this game belong on the offence, for repeatedly giving away the ball and for trying to roll with just two import receivers. We had zero vertical passing attack after Pokey got hurt. When the chips were down and we had to hold the ball to protect a one point lead, we went two-and-out with Zach throwing a low percentage deep shot to Demski on a 2nd-and-7, right around the time of the three minute warning. O grinds out a few first downs, at least flips the field, we can win this game.

My OL analysis: We have a poor technical crew. Wallace, Eli, Broxton all try to maul and are over focused on their assignment in protection (man) over being in good position. That opens up gaps for blitzes. In being so focused on one block most of the time, they kick wider (Broxton) and open their hips which opens up rush lanes. They also lose their feet when they start driving guys in pass pro, can't adjust to blitz because of that and open hips. Want hips to be parallel to line of scrimamge to make a pocket, not leave rush lanes for blitz. Example: Wallace is over focused on DT rushing his outside gap (B for defense), opens his hips to work inside shoulder of that DT, he's driving that guy out but now Collaros backside A is wide open because Eli is doing the same thing on frontside A to the nose tackle. This is how you can have guys making a block but still blowing up pass plays in protection. Then your WIL/MAC/Safety is coming with a free run around those DL. This needs to be corrected because everyone obviously watches film and knows they can bait our guys into opening up the middle then come with a bit of a delay where their LB/safety might have a run read then flip to rushing depending on how many guys we leave in to block. I would like to see us running fewer man protections and more space eating zone style where they just take what comes to them instead of chasing blocks. They really have to beat the bad habits out of these guys by simplifying. Daniels is a mess in pass pro beyond plays where he is just chipping and leaking out. Bryant is struggling to keep his feet and handle speed. He is over compensating for this by kicking wide which also opens up that backside B gap repeatedly. Makes it very hard to build a consistent pocket, especially against a team that recognizes this weakness and blitzes....which is going to be everyone against us until there is significant improvement in how our OL plays/how we handle pressure.

White scored a TD. He wasn't the problem. Here were the problems... Problem #1: The OL couldn't stop the blitz. Problem #2: Our wideouts are a joke & it's not funny one bit. They better bring in some receivers who can go after contested balls & stretch the field. Our scouting has become a joke. Problem #3: After shutting up TSN & taking away Justin Rankin as a threat in the second half, our defense couldn't make a stop late in the fourth quarter when we absolutely had to & give up a TD. Problem #4 Injuries: Ceresna hurt, no surprise. Onterrria Wilson also hurt. Neufeld hurt. Problem #5: Turnovers. Fumbles in the first half KILLED the team. We would have scored if Oliveira hadn't fumbled. Daniels trying to leap over a tackler forgot about holding onto the football. Problem #6: Coaching This team wasn't ready to play which is no excuse for a veteran team. Just a shitty performance.

There was a similar bump against Zach that looked about the same, yet there was no roughing the passer.
  10. 4 points
Yes. There were several times when it was totally obvious the Elks were blitzing and we seemed to be clueless. A couple times it looked like Zach threw short, quickly to White, but he never looked back. Was that supposed to be a hot route? Not good.

On my way to Touchdown Okanagan... Kelowna... whever it's called. Looking forward to watching a game at a slightly expanded Apple Bowl again. Tyler was the Passing Coordinator there in 2018. I'm trying to get in touch with kelownabomberfan... I can't send a private message to him. This page won't let me. Dunno if that's a glitch or whatever... KBF, if you read this do you want to go for dinner & a few drinks after the game??? if interested. leave me some kind of message either here or in private to get in touvh with you.

Honestly I think a ton of our problems on D stem from the idea they have that Wilson in the middle and Jones at Wil with Ayers rotating in a bunch is a fine idea... it's god awful and makes the DL and secondary look a lot worse than they are. I might be crazy but looked to me like in the 2nd half Jones was playing more in the middle and Smith was getting the reps on the outside and the play improved.... let's stop wasting spots on american linebackers who aren't good enough. If we're going to handicap ourselves at the position do it with Canadians (it might be better anyway) and get some american help on offense and maybe another DB so we don't have to pretend Kelly is the answer to anything.

I'm in agreement that we are missing a jump ball threat at receiver, Canadian, American, whatever. But our OL was Swiss cheese at times and we turned the ball over too much. That's how you end up with 18 points.
  14. 4 points
We tried to win a game with 2 American receivers and went quickly down to 1. That's pathetic roster management in the CFL where 5 Receiver sets are the norm.

The endzone? Why would we go for the endzone? That's crazy talk

great return by mci. Why don’t we use this guy instead of the stiff who can’t run at wr? lol
  17. No clue why that's not a penalty out of bounds

said from start of camp 3 canadians at wr was the stupidest thing we could do...last night was a good confirmation Need 3 imports who are a threat, and can be dynamic....do we have 1? Neild is a good 4th option but he isnt dynamic or a game changer kinda guy...he works well flying under the radar as the top 3 guys take a teams attention....Once Pokey went down White was in tough and taken away from ZC for most part...and Demski wasnt what he was...Again current lineup...worst group in league...Dare I say worst than last yr and i didnt think that was possible how many times was that mentioned in camp...and early this season...we choose to run 3 canadians....we dont need to..thats the sickening part...and that's all Osh You cant convince anyone Condell would prefer Corcorran and Cobb over Singer...or any import Prob bring back the Canadian we cut and use him...Mike Oshea likely

And when you want to be the CEO style head coach you can't have useless coordinators. Younger unfortunately proving to be that in personnel and scheme match.
  42. 3 points
The aura of this team is gone. No one’s scared of the bombers. All the dogs are gone. Over the years replaced with guys who never won anything, and the guys who have are old and on a decline. The only game changer on this roster is Oliveria and even he’s 28 years old which is about the ages running backs start to decline.
  43. 3 points
The biggest problem is the number of useless Americans we do have. And then we don't have any backups at receiver or RB. But we aren't even using all these American LB's. Having an American LB on just to chase kicks is a pretty big luxury when you can't play O or D.
