57-18 record as a Bomber, 2 grey cup wins, 5 grey cup appearances. The greatest era in my entire lifetime. I’m going to reserve judgment until I see the numbers but if Zach wants to keep playing, and he’s willing to give up some money by us extending him now I would say this is perfectly fine, curious to see how our new OC uses him, with a healthy Schoen and a deeper (maybe not as top end talented) receiving core I’m hoping we can get a little bit of a bounce back year from Zach.

Who gives a 37 year old qb coming off his worse season in years a future contract extension, before the start of the current season? Woof this is ugly and going to get worse. Even if zach is mop quality this year, it screams of “he plays till he gets carted off for good.” This would need to be the most team friendly deal ever to make any sense. 100% he’s the best blocker of the new WRs. TBH, Dmitch is the least engaged in blocking. Sterns is significantly better, but he’s one of those little blood n guts guys like dressler was. If sterns gets in games, every one is gonna fall in love with that kid. Yep should be very low guaranteed higher incentives.

I agree. Would be nice if it was closer to $400k with incentives . He could still hit the big numbers, but he’s got to put up big numbers.

If Jake is best as a 10 rep rotational guy, is he worth keeping with a higher vet salary? Sounds like a job for a cheaper, younger player does it not?

Disagree. It was obvious to all and sundry that there were four players who ought to have been replaced before the start of last season: Kolankowski, Alexander, Bighill and Jake Thomas. All were past their "best before" dates and for reasons known only to God and O'Shea, they kept being put out there and seem likely to be out there again a lot this year. Those four players cost us the Grey Cup and probably contributed to the injuries to Bighill and Collaros. The secret, if there is one, to remaining competitive in the CFL and pro sports in general is to get rid of players before they become major liabilites. That is the business side of this and too many GMs and coaches have been sacked because they lost their objectivity.

Jones was just an awful individual when it came to a lot of things but let's face it, you reward loyalty if you can still play effectively. You don't create loyalty by playing guys who can't do the things they used to do as well anymore just because of longevity. What does that do for the morale of the younger guys forced to sit it out on the sidelines while an aging & fading veteran still gets the majority of playing time? Where the loyalty there? Where the development? Where's the continuity of replacements when it's time? Lots of frustration from the younger players & that could explain why we can't seem to keep our guys for their second contract. Wally never did this. Neither did Huff. Don Matthews from all accounts was a great coach to play for. The veterans loved him but if individual performances of some of those veterans began to slide, those players were gone. That's how it should be. Someone like Jake Thomas should be told it's time to go. Give Jake a nice send off during the season but otherwise sayonara, goodbye.

450 should be his ceiling now...that and no big upfront money and he has to prove he is clearly head and shoulders the best QB in town...not given the job based on yrs past...especially if he does the big choke...again Yup...case of us resting on laurels and complacency again...not earned but given. Lets say this yr...Strev lights it up in first game...Zc struggles in next...Strev comes in and commands things again...happens throughout first 3rd of season?? What's the smart coach do...what does Osh do? I think talk of extension should been talked about..but let first 3rd...even half the season play out first to see if it is the smart move...no rush whatsoever to extension now...he ain't t at risk going anywhere until feb 2026 Considering a ton was guaranteed and a big portion up front

As a player..and speaking from being in the room and the inner circle, moral is deteriorated more by guys who should and could be playing being bypassed for an aged vet who clearly isn't better...or a coach's favorite...players also talk and will flat out say to others..don't go to team A for this...don't go to team B for that... Players in the room know who should play and won't voice it publicly or to a writer...as it's a fast ticket out of town or in the dog house...but to trusted colleagues...that's a different story

Fine with the extension for ZC but agree that I hope that its 500k next year not 600k.

Pretty sure Clercius is a guy to do a lot of that heavy lifting...dudes a beast and likes to get his nose dirty too. He also di a lot of that role already last year....and sometimes size doesn't necessarily translate to physicality in a receiver He has 200k already guaranteed this yr....so doubt it's that issue And seeing as we never really spent large anywhere doubt much if any was restructured or moved to next yr.....That being said he better at least have taken a 100k shave on the yr tho, as from the last couple season he is not near the 600k per yr guy he was signed for at start of that last deal...and as of yet has not proved anything that he is in the midst of some late career renaissance

He hasn’t started the step up yet from what I’ve seen and heard. Which is very disappointing to me. He could still do it. The first pre season game is pretty much the latest time he can start really showing out. Mos seems pretty high on white too.

I'd be shocked if White Jr were to beat out Mitchell, especially with Mitchell's ability to return. Lot of people pooping on Dillon Mitchell right now because he is a little slow catching onto the playbook, but he is a very good receiver just a slow learner of our system. I feel he will get there in time for the season.

I don't think the location of their name on the depth chart indicates anything, they could play a different position.

So that is Myron Mitchell starting at SB and Dillon Mitchell is behind Wheatfall at boundary WR. I think we can expect Schoen to probably take that SB spot where Reggie White Jr is listed.

Nice to see Gassama in the lineup. Hope he shows well. Will be interesting to see the battle for that SB position between Mitchell and Reggie.

he will just get moved more easily now...His only real use was sometimes getting in the way....now he can be washed away even easier if he is lighter...and define effective?...I dont see it, exactly my point last few seasons....if thats all he good for...and a stretch at that...use those reps...time and lesser salary developing a younger guy with upside and ability...why delay the process when everyone here can agree with...that JT is in no way shape or form the future...nor should be even considered as such his vison...Fav's of his will play be damned...

I don't agree that Jake has no use to us as a player, but I do agree that the amount of reps he got last year were way too many. He shouldn't be taking more than 10 snaps a game to give someone else a quick breather. That is how he could be an effective player and leader on our team. Of course, last year's usage was dramatically impacted by Lawson's injury, but I totally agree that his reps need to drastically reduced. In a perfect world we wouldn't have a coaching cap and he could come in as an assistant position coach instead...but c'est la vie.

It is nice to get a variety of camp reports from actual fans. Always have to take them with a grain of salt, as everyone has their biases and one day at camp is just a snap shot in time, but for the most part way more informing than anything out in the media. I like to hear about new recruits especially that are standing out, having a rough day, or even looking lazy and lost. As a reader I just have to remember it's one day in camp and not get too high or low on a player. Back when I used to attend camps regularly, I never really posted much about it because I was the type of guy that would sometimes get tunnel vision on one or two players that caught my attention and lock in on them instead of observing camp as a whole. Some camp reports I read were how I observed camp that day, and some were way out in left field making me wonder if that guy even attended or was just making it up. At any rate, I look forward to hearing your camp takes Booch. I love hearing a fan's perspective, especially when the fan knows something about the game. Also, I agree that the media attending spend more time hunting down coffee and donuts, and standing around in a circle yapping with each other than actually paying attention to anything actually going on at field level. Some guys watch the first 10-15 minutes and draw their daily conclusions from that, then it's mostly hang around and visit. Very few stay the whole session either.

we a vet team as it is so his "vet leadership" is neither here nor there.....he should be looked at by coaching staff in the light of, what does he offer us right now, and next yr.....and can that same minimal contribution be replaced with a younger player...one with upside...or possible upside and at a lesser cost....especially with how we construct our ratio in that a National DT isn't really a need...and this should have been done 2...3 yrs ago already It's not a knock on Jake as a guy....moreso Jake the player now...this is pro sports and thats the nature of the beast...It's not charity

i plan to go a bunch by end of month....so you all will have to get my take haha...O've actually been useasonably busy this yr so havnt hung out most of camp like yr prior He doing o.k...But he also in the "employee of" so has his talking points I am sure he is fed He tends to also go along and support whatever Osh feelings on things are too....so there is also that aspect.. yeah....agreed....he toes the line...gives a few more words on what is said in coach/player interviews From exerience at camp...and practices during the yr the local reporters for most part aren't watching anything other than when they hear some whooping or hollerin from players on a nice play....and if they were watchig have no idea of even what they are...or need to watch to see who is actually legit...Thats why it's nice to have forum people there who take an interest in the players...especially new ones to see how they doing...and also can see first hand how some the vets are coddled and gifted spots over guys who worked thier asses off...and are actually better...but not a fav vet

I'd be pretty surprised if Wheatfall made the opening roster, barring injuries. D Mitchell is kind of the speed element at all levels and screen game, kind of your Lawler replacement. Wheatfall hasn't really looked good on anything but a couple verticals, and really hasn't finished a ton of plays. Could be a 2nd year breakout candidate I guess but just don't see a spot for him to get on Game 1. He'd be a PR guy again if he doesn't get beat out by someone who looks like a better fit. To me White Jr and Stearns are in a battle for the 3rd slot position. Maybe can get both on if Stearns can return. If White is in good health I could see him and Schoen (if he's healthy too) being devastating targets down the middle.

When reading this kind of makes me feel better with our 8 or 9 consecutive game losing streak on road playoff games.

They are listing Collaros as the starter, but if he gets more than 3 reps Id be surprised. This way its still up in the air who they are leaning to in game 1 to start reg season.

Barring pre-season injury, Im expecting our starting receivers will be: Wheatfall, White Jr, Demski, Schoen and Clercius. Dillon Mitchell will be (not so) surprised cut.

Interesting seeing so many starters but at home you may as well give them some series. Defensively that looks like a pretty good team, on paper. Offense... TBD.

What does it do for morale when vets are churned out like day old bread? You won't get buy in without loyalty being a two way street. Of course, I agree that it can't go over the top to either degree. I mean it's not like we haven't moved on from vets in our organization. I think it is ridiculous that people say the team never moves on when just this year we will not be seeing Bighill or Alexander for instance. But that doesn't match the narrative being driven on this forum so let's forget about all the vets we've moved on from in just the past couple years and focus solely on one player named Jake Thomas. SMH. What guys are we not keeping for our second contract that we would have loved to keep? Name one. I honestly can't believe how much the narrative around here is driven by Jake Thomas? Makes no sense whatsoever. Yea, he probably should be put out to pasture but it is complete nonsense to suggest that we are a team that never moves on from players. Adam Bighill and Brandon Alexander would disagree vehemently with that take. Also this narrative that our roster is too veteran heavy is also nonsense. Our starting 24 last year had the 3rd most amount of rookie/sophmore players in the entire league.

He can definitely be effective when used in very small doses. And, fwiw, it looks like he's lost a fair bit of weight this year, which will hopefully help. Still want Lawson taking the majority of reps if we're insistent upon having a starting NI DT...

Not quite true. Wilson was getting a lot of reps with the 1st team offense early in main camp last year so there was some talk. He was also listed as one of our neg listers in Sep 2023 and then signed to a futures contract a month later so he was already on the radar prior to last year. The problem is that we don't hear a whole lot about camp in general anymore - doesn't matter if it's an established vet or a rookie.

At least we get spared clips of camp tippy toes…. Year after year there are at least one or two vids of Kola getting absolutely destroyed by a DT. Last year it was either Adams or Woods making him look stupid. Just saw a clip of #94, Adams again - put Kola on roller skates. Just insane that the team doesn’t see any need to upgrade center.
