CFL - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

the stamps 2 victories were meaningless   ... I  still think they fight with the Riders for the basement

toronto has enough talent to still win without a QB: special teams + decent D

I don't think there is good reason for a purge in BC, if the team plays up to their potential they have a reasonable chance as any of winning the West next season.  Who are the most qualified candidates available for HC?  Bringing in a rookie could be a multi-year project or an instant disaster, they probably shouldn't flush the toilet unless they have a sure winner lined up for HC.

You've defined insanity.

3 years in a row they've been the West Division champs in waiting.

Maybe if they had a coach who knew how to properly assess risk they'd win.

So who takes over as OC and don't say Lapo....

If it wasn't for the Bombers being a consistently good team they would have been West Division champs 2 of the 3 years.

So people would actually WANT to swap out Buck for Lapo.... I feel like I'm on crazy pills. How did Buck go from golden child a year ago to people wanting to run him out of town now?

Ill agree some games the offensive play calling has had alot of WTF?? moments this season, but do we even have an in house guy that could take over? Bringing in someone from outside would seem like a step back for the team. Given the choice of someone from outside the org or Buck, im taking Buck. Continuity has been one of our strengths over this stretch of awesomeness.

Brady hurt early on, Schoen out for the season early, Lawler missing a chunk early.... New look OL trying to figure it out.....

But it's Bucks fault?

The biggest gripe I have with Buck is how he miss managed Streveler. Because of how predictable his package was it’s no surprise our offense actually got better once he went down. So many drives stalling because they wouldn’t throw in a wrinkle and let him throw on second and short.

Is Pierce in the last year of his contract? Why would he consider moving to BC as a lateral move unless he's being looked at as a HC.

That's the point... Campbell is out and Buck to BC as HC is what's rumoured. Farhan earlier this week was asked about Campbell out and wouldn't deny it, so that seems likely next week. What this quasi podcast thing is saying is that Buck is the pending replacement. Just not sure how much to believe a rando pod...

LaPo mentioned sometime ago on his podcast, his wife has no desire to leave Ottawa, also said he wants to be around while his kids are still at home.  Didn't deny he might want to get back into coaching eventually though.

Not saying they are wrong as I have no idea who they are but FWIW, if you search their podcast, this is how they describe themselves so I'm not sure they're entirely credible.

So I had no idea they started this but I do know the dad fairly well.... I've sent him a message to try and find out more.

They've had multiple chances in the regular season to win games against us to host the final in each of the past 2 years.

The failure there is deep.  As it is in Sask but they are celebrating and blaming the wind in Montreal when we swept them in the back to back.

yup...the wind was only a small part of it....both those teams dropped the ball against us when they had us down.....they couldn't make the kill.....and we re-grouped...and we made the kills

If either of them had split with us....the wind wouldn't have mattered....and in all honesty...if we had lost...I not 100 percent sold the Rider's would have even won vs CGY

if you're an older career coach like LaPo (54 years old) you can't stay away from coaching too long as the perception would be the game has passed you by. His future as a HC is probably over. Only thing left at the CFL level is to be an OC. Plus other younger coaches start to emerge that have bright futures as well so now he's competing with younger coaches which is never good. LaPo's wife married a football coach so she should know how things work. As Elvis once crooned, "It's now or never." The only other alternative is to stay in the media & cover the CFL full time.
