Tough one.  I'm not sure Schmekel is ready to play so we'll probably see a lot of 30 fronts with extra LB.

There's no way Schmekel is ready to play.  I think it was you who, in an earlier thread, noted he was getting manhandled in both preseason games.

He's a project and is currently a liability when on the field.

  2. I'll never begrudge a CFL player for chasing cash but it sucks that Kongbo chose the Lions over coming back to the club who did right by him (on multiple occasions) so that he could explore NFL interest.  He'd slot in so nicely in place of Jeffcoat and be an integral part of our rotation.  Maybe he's not interested in being a "bench guy" and envisions himself a starter and chose based on that .. I remember there were some rumblings about that when he was here.

    Regardless .. still sucks.

Is this true anymore though? Who plays if Bighill gets hurt? Or Jefferson/Jeffcoat?

It isn't true .. at least on the defensive side of the ball.

I think it's fair to say that the depth of talent we have at WR / OL is unparallelled across the league and what I mean by that is it's relatively plug and play.  Next man up and there isn't a massive drop off production wise.  Every other area of the team lacks that same depth and the quality of our starters has actually regressed in a number of areas (DL, LB in particular).  Someone goes down and there's a noticeable void.

What on earth could the leader of the Opposition be referencing about the Prime Minister?   https://twitter.com/arigoldkind/status/1664031224451547136?s=61&t=_stQ2xKaj3IiEFd7rNK7jg

I don't normally dip my toes in these political threads not because I'm not engaged but because of how tribal these discussions are.  I believe that no matter which side you are on, you should govern for all people.   The "other side" isn't simply going to leave the country or go away and so we need to find middle ground and work for the betterment of society as a whole.  With that out of the way ...

I lean Liberal. I'm far from being a Trudeau fanboy - let me make that clear.  With that said, what Poilievre did here was simply gross.  It was classless.  It speaks to how incredibly small he is as a man and leader.

The fact there has never been any credible evidence, source, witness or corroboration around this supposed incident should speak volumes and yet the people who cite this baseless claim are the same people who would rail against "the mob" if any other person was "convicted" without proof.

If you have that power have at it. If you don't then move on and mind your own business. I am unclear why you guys think it's acceptable to bully others on these political threads but when someone speaks out against it they are the bad guy? Read the words that are said by posters like bluegold84. If people are deserving of timeouts for name calling that is where a mod should start right there. If that's not enforced but calling someone out for doing it is, then this is not a forum I would want to be part of anyway. However, I believe RIch is a little better than that.

I do though .. I'd encourage everyone to keep it civil.

no problem bringing him back... but I still see Lawrence and Houston ahead of him on the depth chart

I'm giving Rose the benefit of the doubt.  Our secondary was a bit of a revolving door last season and he may have been trying to do too much.   You factor in that he was hurt and never quite himself .. it's no wonder his play fell off.

Late in the year you started to see him round into form.  By that point, the backfield had settled down and he was likely healthier than he'd been at any point prior - again, just giving him the benefit of the doubt based on his previous level of play and how he flashed at times last season.

That said, I expect competition and expect he'll be pushed to prove he's our solution our there.

I don’t think he is quicker than Scheon and I don’t see why they would take a chance

    Measurables.

You can't coach 6'5 with decent quickness (he's not a fast receiver by any stretch but in football "quick" and "fast" are two different things).  I can see why NFL teams, who tend to get captivated by guys who fit a mold, would take a flier on a guy like Lenius.

I read the Hodge piece... all he really does is suggest that, by virtue of being the oldest guy on the roster, the Bombers COULD move on from Bryant and that Bryant himself might hang them up because things are "year to year" for him, depending on how his body feels and his family situation. I don't think the Hodge piece is as malicious as being represented here, more just a semi-desperate attempt to create content out of almost nothing...

Doesn't that categorize MOST of Hodge's work?

  9. The most likely scenario for Rourke will be one of two things:

He earns himself an NFL contract and the Lions release him to pursue that opportunity.  He then becomes a free agent in the CFL if / when his time in the NFL is through.  He goes to the highest bidder (ie. most money with an organization that’s winning).

Through his workouts, he fails to earn an NFL contract and the Lions exercise his 3rd year option.  The Lions do this because from a cap management perspective it makes sense but Rourke likely won’t play on that 80K (he’d be stupid to risk his health and future on the rookie pay scale) so the Lions will work out an extension with some of that money being guaranteed / converted to a signing bonus.  In either case, his cap hit for 2023 will not be 80K.

This whole idea that Rourke will be locked into the rookie pay scale for a 3rd year option without any sort of renegotiation, holdout or risk to be lost in free agency (if released from his contract) is absolutely absurd.

Rourke looked bad in the first quarter all by himself. The rest of the game it was more the Bomber's D making him look bad & his receivers letting him down.

300 yards passing isn't bad, especially for a young QB starting his first playoff game in hostile territory. One of his 2 picks was a hail merry that we quite frankly should have just knocked down. He threw and ran for more yards than Collaros.

Stats don't really tell a tale on their own now do they ...

Rourke looked rather pedestrian all night and, if I'm honest, this game never felt like it was in doubt.  Can rack up all the yardage in the world but the only number that matters is the record.

We were 1-0 after the game was played.

Greg Ellingson was completely invisible yesterday

Next week would be a great time to get going

I know he's still working his way back into the lineup but he really hasn't looked like himself when he's on the field .. that, and other guys have stepped up in his place.

Rourke had a horrible game. Not just first Q. He missed a bunch of throws all night long. That may have been the worse game I've seen from him all season.

His receivers left a lot of plays on the field as well.

Some of that is on Rourke, some of that is on the conditions .. hell .. some of it is just seeing our guys coming downhill at them.

It was more the D screwing him up than him playing poorly. Excellent defensive scheme. Everyone took a turn making a play. Darby was dynamic.

We've made Rourke look very average in each of the three games we've faced him this year.

He's a talented kid with a great future ahead of him but he's got some growing to do.

Chung's? And I dont doubt players would be...was a pathetic cheap shot...

Kind of overshadowed the celebration moment at the end of the game .. seeing one of our guys laid out on the field after that dirty SOBs cheap shot.
