we are rolling 6 dl with 3 canadians. every other team is rolling 8+ with 6 or more imps, except for one team with a very good canadian pass rusher. We are the only team under rostering dl, and filling half the spots with fringe roster guys. truth. a couple people on here are soo lost in cognitive dissonance from their unwavering faith in the mafia doing no wrong and the fact we have been at best a fringe play off team for two years, outside of the insanely flukey stretch streak last year.

we are starting 9 canadians. we could go down plus use the naturalized rule. We also have ayers who doesn’t play D and isn’t a DL, and we have 3 back up imp dbs. wouldn’t be hard to rebalance the line to stick in a couple more imps even into the starting line up.

This wouldn't matter so much if they had more support and rotation.

There are other issues with his decision making that have nothing to do with Walters or recruitment. His decision, for example, to refuse to use the DA rule is baffling - like why would you handicap yourself and your team because you don't like a rule?

Could've, even before the cap increase. And even if we didn't want to give him that money, they should've dealt with that situation a lot better than they did. The case one point made me wonder, what would happen if you flipped the popular appologists arguement about guys we dont play/cut? Their claim, why hasn't "X" player gone on to become an allstar else where? Which I've countered many times by saying in league scouting is terrible these days. Look at bridges getting picked up but Dandy hasn't. Where are the allstars that should've developed from the guys we've repeatedly kept around? The guys like Case, Johnson, Bridges, etc. I'm sure plenty would counter with, well walters et al aren't bringing in a high enough level of talent. But why have our back ups given other teams back ups all they could handle while our starters struggle against the other teams starters in pre season? Why are teams going after our imp cast offs, but not our NI cast offs? How is it we have managed to un earth guys like wilson, Wheatfall, Clercius, Vaval(as a KR), Smith/shay, Griffin, Jay person, Tony jones, Cam lawson, and Matthew peterson? That is a lot of young talent from every avenue available that are good contributors, many of whom could do much more for us if we let them. Look at our depth chart. Look at the guys who are Penned in as guarenteed high rep starters who shouldn't be. The Kolas, thomas etc. Then look at the guys we've managed to dig up who are good in the last 2 years. Then look at the remainder of good roster guys (cadwallader to nichols etc). That doesn't leave you with spots for guys to play. No matter who we bring in and what they can do. The guys who've stepped up and excelled, have only done so due to injury. None of those guys came up and took the job of a vet. No one passes a guy above them on the depth chart unless they get hurt or cut. You can't beat a guy ahead of you on the depth chart here. No matter how he or you play. Rant off.

sometimes... other times we had the exact same problems we've had this year. Yeah he had games like the west final, but that wasn't all the the time. guy isn't as consistent as he was several seasons ago. not paying him huge money wasn't the mistake. the mistake is in what replaced him.

As he should. Kenny may be talking the talk but he is also walking the walk. The Ticats are getting full value for a contract we felt was too much. It was a mistake by Walters to let him go and there is no sugar coating it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a player knowing his worth and not being happy when his former team would not recognize it. Why should he take a slap in the face offer to stay. This is Walters missing the mark on a players valuation as he so often does.

Over under on Lawler...150 yards and 2 scores? Based on the defensive front we have stumbling out...BLM gonna prob have ample time to find guys No way with our pop gun offence and leadership are we gonna win a shootout...and I sure we gonna hemorrhage 25+ points against

Interesting article in today's Free Press about Kenny Lawler. Basically the Bombers didn't handle contract negotiations well according to him. Troubling stuff if true.

So 300k for Kenny, Schoen was 175 plus bonuses which I believe were around 200k+Mitchell's money would cover Kenny and a guy on a rookie deal like Wheatfall. So again, we could have afforded him.

Hard to forget about paying $150k for 11 catches & 85 yards. 😂 We're paying about $250k between Mitchell & Schoen for their combined 340 yards receiving and 2 TD's vs $280-300k and 1k yard receving and 10 TD's for Lawler. Saying Walters **** the bed on that would be a massive understatement.

Let's not try to sugar coat the non-signing of Kenny Lawler....it was a BIG mistake , considering what we replaced him with ..This was/is a Cup year in the city....we should have gone all out to at least have a respectable year...What we're having now is far off Bomber standards....IF it's true that we sand bagged Lawlers attempt to look at his future after football....well I only have one word for that ...facking deplorable....oooops sorry that's 2 words

not sure how anyone can think its wrong for a player to look out for himself....The meat grinder of pro sports wont for you...U can get tossed away and denied a legally agreed on bone's at anytime at the teams discretion We are a better team with him....and a poorer team with others we have wasted money on and as for thr bolded part....100 percent...this wasn't an isolated incident thats happened in several instances actually

if kenny lawler thinks his last contract here was playing at a discount, he’s lost the plot. he was making 285k+ Also, for a guy who crapped the bed with his own pass port status and missed a big chunk of a year, and missed them with a dui incident, he doesn’t get to complain about his work status with us. I love the guys talent, but he’s tough to listen to at times. He is right though, that the bombers did a piss poor job of trying to retain him, as we’ve often done in free agency the last several years. One of our 6 being a limebacker with zro experience there...and only getting on on short yardage to basically account for offense's spreading opit the oline our vet ends would be fine with actual consistent rotation with Person, and with 2 other guys on the dline that cause problems and are active and possess yech skill ...and younger Thomas has none of that now...and is so easy to defend...straight forward push...no hand skills so teams just wash him left...wash him right...spin him aroind or just engage him one on one and let him push forward, and they run plays past him...cant get off...no backside pursuit Dline works in tandem and a weak link...let alone 2 really hampers the others and what you wanna do I had mentioned several times here that Lawler would have stayed...at a reasonable cost, and wanted to...but all wasnt as it seemed here as this perfect regime....people called me out...said I was full of it But there ya go.....I have convo/contact with many aspects of team and players that media don't and know a lot more than what they feed fans It's not the love fest many like to believe andd there is a lot of frustration on many levels but you wont hear it in media

I am the first one to criticize this regime these days, but Lawler always has a Jake Thomas sized chip on his shoulder. That's just who he is.

That needs to be investigated by the league and PA.

Keys to the game? Key 1 is this is a must win game. But more than just a win, we need a momentum builder, a jumping off point to finish the year strong. Key 2 with Zach out we need a strong run game. It's going to be harder with vanterpool off, and with Shades calling the plays on O. But we need a monster game from brady. Key 3, Tackling. We can't give an offense like hamilton free or easy yards. We need to wrap, tackle and gang tackle on first contact. Players to watch, Brady, OL, Wilson, Demski, Mitchell (needs to step up and earn his spot or lose it), Wheatfall (needs to re find his early season form and bring the premium play his position demands) Kyrie (how healthy is he, will he diminish being banged up) Person (will his reps on D manifest or will he ride the pine) And houston (will he be the gambler or has he wisended up)

Even if he fully tore it after he came back, they still let him finish the game knowing it was re-injured. By their own admission, he got hurt again early in the LDC so why was he out still there?

I mostly agree with the above points. But based on the way Arbuckle has played this year, and the shutdown D and solids STs that the Argos had last year, last year's GC was not the gimme that many believed it was

First, it’s not flexibility. when you don’t take those canadians off and use the extras to get better players on at strategic points and times, it’s just wasted excess. Second, it’s not injury insurance, that’s what quality canadian depth is. starting extra guys who are fringe players doesn’t make you less susceptible to injury because you don’t have the back up imps to replace if the canadians go down. won the last gc 4 years ago. that doesn’t buy a coach an eternity of mistakes. neither does pissing away 3 championship games to bad coaching. Thing is, you require less canadians now than we did when he came up with this due to nat canadian role. so not only are we over the min, we are massively over it. Meanwhile our 2/4 2/3 canadian dl is our biggest weak spot. It’s been more than a year. with his pissing away 3 gc games, 2 that should’ve been easy wins, and then last year only being salvaged by a ridiculous lucky streak at the end of the year, and this year, he’s had tons of rope. Thing is, these are the same problems mos had before 19. he hasn’t improved at all. His roster management isn’t even debatable at this point.

Adams hit a wall a bit but if allowed to work through it woulda been fine I bet...Woods was real good all yr when he got to play Adams thus yr as well....our most consistent interior guy and was rostered during our better defensive performances as well....made plays...allowed some space for the ends

Exactly my point. Expecting old players to play that much is just a bad idea.

There's a definite pattern here as Lawler isn't the first player at free agency to feel that way.

Ok... so do it. Ayers comes off for one easy. Upgrade DL performance. Does it impede special teams? Maybe but enough to sacrifice the play of the defence which is on the field much much more... doubt it. Put Jones in for either Jones or Wilson I don't really care, neither one are difference makers at this point. Want to ride ourselves of Jake? Well we drafted some linebackers this year, let them play and bam we got the other American linebacker off and have a much stronger DL.
