  1. Welcome to the Elks game tonight. The team is led by the fabulous Ford brothers. One brother creates touchdowns, the other takes them away.

  2. It's a thing for sure. I used to watch a lot more tennis than I do now but you'd have the American broadcasts trying to be the entertainment, pushing whatever pre-match story they had concocted... but then you'd get a British or Australian feed and they were just calling the match talking about what was happening not doing all this excessive over the top hard sell. The sport is the entertainment and the reason we like sports is the element of unknown. Don't force a storyline, don't expect the on air people to be the entertainment, let the athletes dictate the story and be the entertainment.

  3. Those during the breaks panels who act like goofs isn’t cfl exclusive. Anyone try watching the jets intermission on sportsnet? Same idea

  4. One game. Played awful. Flush it and move on.

  5. Wake up call game... This feels like a write off already. Time to pull heads from asses and come out strong Sunday morning.

  6. The broadcast barely mentioned it…. It’s another big loss. DeMelo is underrated.

  7. What is wrong with the executives at TSN who think Kate is doing something good? She's much better talking about basketball for example. Of course, they let her act like a normal person and not a cartoon.

  8. Let's pan to the parents (insert other relatives/spouses as appropriate) in the stands every 3 seconds to get their reactions. Fun!

  9. I'm not against a good story when it exists. But those times are rare. Forcing things makes it all so much worse.

  10. Nope, it is not the same other than both scores resulted in losses. But it obviously doesn't mean the Jets are done. How they respond on Sunday will be telling.

  11. I go to The Bay & watch the sports on their tvs that are always on. Oh wait?

  12. My wife hates Bierness as well. She doesn't mind the panel but thinks Bierness is awful. My wife is only a fan because I am. She didn't watch the game at all before she met me in 1985. Barely knew what the CFL was. So, she's one of the fans the league should be trying to catch. Having a host trying to be "one of the boys" with a gravelly voice won't do it. Bierness tries waaaaay too frigging hard.

  13. This was never going to be a sweep.

  14. They'll probably say they couldn't clearly see the goal line, even though it was clearly behind the post.

  15. That one angle it shows it’s in.

  16. Apparently Faulk can jump on and start hammering Miller while he’s down. Nothing to see here. Yup consistency that’s all that’s asked.

  17. That does seem to be the case, honestly it doesn’t matter to me though. (I know she’s not like that with the raptors stuff she’s done, be it a small sample size) Idk if they can separate her from the gimmick. The bad taste is strong. Production/ direction needs change, and much of the tv talent needs to be replaced. Bo is better than any of the ex players in the panel and the booth. Lapo is excellent but under utilized. Ford should probably be In the limited role lapo usually has. Hes just not a natural speaker and hasn’t improved a lot.

  18. Yeah, I don’t understand it either. It was clearly a goal. That ruling is just cowardice and not wanting to overturn the call on the ice…. It was the easy way out. And in this situation, the call on the ice shouldn’t carry any weight. The ref that signaled no goal was on the opposite side of the net from where the puck crossed the line. There is no chance he could see where the puck was.

  19. Knowing obviously it was not the main reason we lost this stinker and as objectively as possible, I’m still very confused on how they confirmed the original call on the ice of Perfetti no goal. The one angle from behind the net zoomed in clearly showed the glove catching net fully behind the post. What else does one need? This is why we have technology.

  20. over 10 times a game, and every single time they talk about up coming games and schedule during other teams games.

  21. What's the over under on TSN mentioning the twins in EDM?
    1 point
  22. This is absolutely true. Sunday may tell us if the Jets are for real this year or just another season full of mirages. How they respond to a now very confident Blue team will be telling. Adversity here we go.

  24. TSN broadcasts are old & tired. Suitor needs to be replaced yesterday. Forde is just boring. They want a crazy Kate Bierness hosting the panel. Yet, they keep the boring Forde on tv so go figure. Lapo is way underutilized to the detriment of the viewers. No reason why they can't have another chair at the panel desk for him.

  25. I can't believe either that it's Kate Bierness producers pushing this or Laura Diakin would do the same things. She is totally different than Bierness. If the producers wanted comedy then Diakin would be the same type of host. They've had Rod Smith & others host the panel as well & it's not stupid the way Bierness is.

  26. I feel like the biggest sports media types succeed with a persona that is a very exaggerated version of themselves. Tony Kornheiser is a great example of this, and Michael Wilbon is as well. I think many of the newer generation of sports media types try to emulate them to a certain degree. Chris Berman and Stuart Scott also had larger-than-life on-screen personalities. Stephen A Smith has been entirely consumed by the persona (and ego) he created. It feels like she/they are trying to recreate this, but with zero success. I never watch more of the pre-game or post-game than I have to anymore. And I often mute the audio to listen to CJOB. I would rather listen to unsynced sound and awful cjob commercials, or nothing at all. I didn't mind the preseason games that were televised with no audio and stadium noise only. How can the league grow when die-hard fans (I know I'm not alone here or across the league) can't stand to listen to the presentation on TV? My wife isn't a die-hard fan, and she can't stand the panel or the booth most of the time either.

  27. I think it more than that...she trying to become something....not sure what it is.....but I will agree on one point...Her real life voice/inflrctions is totally different than on the panel, and maybe if she just tried her shtick being halfassed normal it may be less puke inducing...and if producer's are pushing that....then time to replace them too

  30. I don’t understand that call. That one angle clearly showed it was in. What are we missing? Do all angles have to show it in? Like what?

  31. Puck and glove clearly behind the line, refs call "no goal", SMH

  32. Are you kidding me. Wow. What is with these refs. Let them play ffs. Colin Miller showing some rust.

  33. Apparently holding the stick is legal now. Refs enjoying watching the game.

  35. Lots of late hits by the blues. Lots of holding. Clutching. Grabbing. Obstruction. Almost every play. That blues player was cross checking miller in the neck on the ground after the late hit again. Where’s the fn call there. I just want consistency. Not getting that is annoying and extremely frustrating as a fan.

  36. Refs are calling stuff on Jets only. It's a terribly officiated series.

  39. Trust me, I agree with ya fellas... Not a fan. And definitely enjoy Diakun more... She's more straight forward. Doesn't try to be overly entertaining.

  40. It's not that Kate thinks this or that.... It's just a gimmick that the producers are making her do. It's an act and they seem to think it's entertaining.

  41. Kate is awful, actually antagonizes her own panel for some odd reason. She thinks she is the star of the panel and gets upset at them if she perceives they are upstaging her. Just weird really.
    1 point
  42. I always found that Laura Diakun did a good job hosting the panel whenever she needed to fill in for Kate. I think she would be a good replacement as long as she keeps doing what she's been doing and not try to change to match what Kate has been doing.

  43. The timing suggests Charbonneau may have made the decision himself, choosing to stick with his career or partner back East rather than report to TC. If they were not impressed with his progression they could have parted ways at the end of last season instead of protecting him over Owen Hubert who still wants to play.

  44. Ol and Dl for me. Ol will be better than last year based on improved health alone. I am optimistic about the DL having Lawson back and adding Vaughters. If we could get a good Canadian who can play a 3-tech and end in limited reps out of the draft, that'd be excellent. The worry is, of course, that Jake is still here and might get the most reps. I don't want to see us give up on Adams, or Woods, or even Samson, because Jake gets the most reps again. I'm worried about QB, too. I think we have the assets in the draft and on the roster to make up for all our weaknesses. Though it will all come down to how the offence is run, and qbing. I like the direction in the coaching staff, and I believe in the talent of zach and Strevy. Their health and fit/usage is another thing, though. If Jake and Kola were off the roster tomorrow, my confidence in our roster would go up a lot.

  45. Yeah, he would be ideal as a sam IMO. It would be a worthy consideration to move Kramdi, but I don't think we would ever entertain that. But having Griffen and Nichols as the halfs would be an incredible luxury. Holm might really excel at field corner too. They love his quick hips, and he has elite closing speed. He doesn't have the physicality, but he also doesn't sell out for hits he knows his limitations and wraps up.

  46. It's not her job to be knowledgeable. It's her job to facilitate discussion from the knowledgeable people. Unfortunately tsn subscribes to the American idea that a panel needs to be the entertainment and clowns are supposedly entertaining

  47. Radio? That's fine for you young whippersnappers. I will take my horse and buggy to the game and then read about the team each day in the newspaper that is delivered to my mailbox.

  48. Unfortunately, I think more sports teams fall under that category than we would like to think. See Artemi Panarin's recent sexual assault case for example. Superstars seem to be able to get away with that kind of behaviour consistently.
