I really don’t think CFL defences are ready for a team to go 22 spread set heavy run. I want soo much to see some 6’4 250+ te using the waggle to block at the second level. Teams are reasonably prepared for our 7ol + fb tight bunch sets because the gaps are close and it narrows the field. In order to run higher volume in general we need to diversify our run attack. The amount of izr/tite zone we’ve run with out balance is insane. Especially last year with out using a secondary back field threat.6 points

Remember how bad things were with Team President Garth Buchko, GM Joe Mack & HC Tim Burke? I don't think in 2014 when Miller, Walters & Osh were hired replacing those Three Stooges did we think in our wildest dreams we'd be where we're at financially as an organization. I just hope that we can maintain things for a few years yet. Remember the RedBlacks Expansion Draft? Ottawa GM Marcel Desjardins decided not to pick any Blue Bombers in the last round. He & his Asst GM guffawed at our roster & laughed & then mocked our team on TSN & passing on picking anyone. Both publicly shamed our team saaying on the broadcast that there wwasn't one player left on our 2013 roster that could help the RedBlacks. Desjardins really seemed to be enjoying himself at the expense of the Bombers. I was furious. It's okay for us (Bomber fanbase) to be upset with our team & we'll fight among us here but the hell I'll let fans from other teams make fun of us. Let alone an entitled & smirking now former CFL GM. I'll never forget that as a fan. Even today, when we beat the RedBlacks, the victory gives me a bit more energy than usual. An extra jump in my step. Next to the Riders, the RedBlacks are the team I hate.5 points -

Maybe I'm not understanding WBB properly. But I think you're basically agreeing with him. When the Bombers were running their heavy sets, everyone knew what was coming. And if they had the right players they could pretty well stop it. If the Bombers were to use a spread set with large blocking TE (who could also catch), that would force the Defence to also spread (mainly LB/DB) creating more space (potentially) for Brady/Logan/Streveler. Also another great example of Buck completely misusing Streveler and essentially refusing to change what clearly wasn't working.4 points -
While Hellebuyck is without question the team and league MVP, the Jets are still extremely well balanced and their commitment to defensive structure, as a team, is noticeable. Helle is All World, but it's not just him out there...4 points

https://3downnation.com/2025/04/11/canadian-db-tyrell-ford-turned-down-multiple-nfl-offers-to-stay-in-cfl-sign-with-edmonton-elks/ But why? I mean, really... Yup, you got it. Spreading the formations blockers, having off-tackle gaps (like we see more down south now), and forcing the run fits to cover a much wider area is the key. It also opens up massive cutback lanes. We gave up on the multiplicity of backfield threats last year, which gutted our ability to run out of the heavy set. With just 1 back to threat, you only need your edge seal to be fast or wide enough to take it away. If you widen that point 5 yards, then you either need to line up on that point, creating another inside gap that's open, or need to be fast enough and be able to get outside of the blocking scheme before the rb has an angle. That play call was atrocious, too. Just battering ram streveler and the shallowest routes from the Nichols era.3 points -

This used to be the case, but the team defense has improved. What did St. Louis have? 15 shots? Dallas had 25 last night and they were desperately trying to get back into the game.3 points -
The value of Logan has been that when hes on the field he makes plays and opens things up for other players. Having him do so also lessens the load on Demski reducing injury risk. No way he is just used as a returner. We' ve also stocked up on other players including Cobb who can return kicks3 points

It all comes from his original blue print and whom and what he put in place to get it done. Easily was the most significant and franchise changing hire...probably ever3 points -
Stanley sets a new career high in points. The Stanley hate is actually insane as he’s better than the other options. Don’t like Stanley? That’s fine but to suggest he always makes mistakes is just wrong. He’s a 3rd pair LHD who kills penalties and does it well. He’s better than fleury and heinola. That’s his competition whether people accept it or not. Every d man messes up. Josh even screws up at times but it’s only pointed out when Stanley does it cuz hey he’s on the ice so must be his guy.2 points

It can be hard to differentiate which the cause is; if you don't know the scheme fairly well, it's almost impossible. Unless the failure point is something like drops. At that point in the game, though, if the players aren't able to execute, it's a failure of prep or implementation. It's not often that either type of failure is fixed mid-game, though. When you see repeated, systemic failures, change is the answer. But the hard fact sometimes is you don't have a winning combination. We've all lived through that plenty in the past dark ages. We saw games where any changes or installations would make no difference. On a good team, you should have a few pivots built in. On d, Hall is one of the better coaches at having and triggering those. And it's not like he suddenly fundamentally changed his style/system. He didn't switch to complicated zone blitz schemes, or heavy sets etc. He changed just enough with in his system to cover gaps. On offence, I think Jason maas has done the best job of in week installs that give his team options to counter being countered. DD used to be good at adjusting in game, but every thing in Calgary is cracked now. Idk who I'd say is the best pure adjuster on offence today.2 points -

Good to know...does it have the cream cheese topping as well? My post was just kind of being facetious a little. I don't expect him to be MOP, but I do expect a good season from him because I think BO and Logan will be a great tandem and a healthy Strev running a different offensive set will keep defences off balance.2 points

The third goal by KConn is a prime example - the Stars were on offense and in a split second Iafallo had broken it up and headmanned it up to Scheif who did an amazing flip of the puck to KConn streaking down the center of the ice, with no one on him as Dallas had been caught flat-footed and totally out of position. This is what sets us apart. Talent but also coaching to take advantage of other teams' lapses. We all know the playoffs means another speed higher and the Jets have had a hard time finding that extra gear in prior years, but the last few games for the Jets to me have been played at a playoff level intensity and the Jets have responded to it well. Will they be ready this year for the next level? We will see. Yes Schenn and Tanev have been much bigger impact players for the Jets than say a Kevin Hayes-like rental would have been, in my opinion. Schenn gives the D a much-needed veteran presence with his customary physical play and Tanev is an energizer bunny that just hits everything in sight. That's going to really come into play in the playoff grind should the Jets get through the first round.1 point -
I am not a huge Stanley fan but i think he has made strides in reducing his mistakes especially playing with Schenn,or Miller. Schenn has been a great pickup for solidifying our 6 imo.1 point

If you go to the “NHL Playoff Chase” thread I have outlined on nauseating detail the tiebreaker rules for ranking teams. Won’t regurgitate it here, but to explain it quickly: Dallas is 6 points behind Winnipeg with 3 games each left to play. If Winnipeg loses all 3 and Dallas wins all 3, they would end up tied in points, so the tiebreaker would take effect. First tiebreaker is “regulation wins”. Jets currently have 43, Dallas 41, so Dallas could still finish with 44 and pass the Jets. If they ended up tied in regulation wins, the next tiebreaker is “regulation and overtime wins” where the Jets lead 53 to 48 and cannot be caught. So the upshot is that if the Jets gain one more point or Dallas loses any possible points, Jets finish with more points and win the division. But even if Dallas wins out and the Jets lose out, if any of Dallas’ games go to overtime, the Jets will have the tiebreaker edge and get first place.1 point -
