I would assume if Jones doesn't get the Elks into the playoffs this coming season it will override any discussions about can't afford to let him go and he'll be fired.

 But hey who knows.

No longer an issue... the LOLks announced last month that they've now finished paying previous employees and are "out of cap hell"...

Lawler Demski and woli haven’t been able to do much of any thing?

Agree.

On that list, Woli is the only WR who wasn't brought in via Free agency and was a true rookie when he joined the team. And no I don't want a woli type to replace Schoen should the team need to.

The Deadmonton situation surrounding their penchant for 'backing up a truck full of cash' to one particular player (see Lawler /Lewis) and expecting them to turn the franchise around has to end... Jones has to break himself of that bad habit AND I wonder IF Jonesie has been looking Schoen's way for a repeat signing ....I hope to hell not

That's a bit dismissive, he was here for the extent of the 2022 TC and performed well in 2 pre-season games, unfortunately he had to compete against phenomenal rookie sensation Dalton Schoen who had the waggle down pat within days, that doesn't mean he was incapable of becoming a good receiver.  He isn't the first talented player cut from TC due to numbers.

My mistake, I swore he got into the lineup once or twice due to injuries. Either way, he is still not a good candidate to showcase the mafias ability to bring in good rec who produce immediately, imo.

I would have brought up Agudosi, who I'm just remembering.

Unless he was released and I missed it, his agent can't talk to any CFL teams about him until a week prior to FA. Doesn't mean it didn't happen, of course, just that it isn't supposed to.

It always happens. "Just a quick heads up. My client's going to free agency". They're not talking contract. They're not tampering. Just info.

Best game of his career was in 2022 when Ti-Cats laid a licking on the Bombers 48-31, wasted potential.  With his aversion to pressure I don't think he'll rise to the top of the coaching world, he'll find a safe place down South and sit there. Doubt we ever hear from him again.

He'll find a high school or small college somewhere in a small town where he'll coach in obscurity & probably be very happy while selling insurance on the side.

And what does their source matter?
It’s not that schoen would be replaced by one guy, his touches would get split between those guys.

Ottawa will open the vault. He'll sign there & Bob Dyce will destroy him in 5 months.

Because the discussion was signing Dunbar if Schoen leaves vs going with a rookie. Don't interrupt if you're not paying attention.

Hamilton can pay Dru Brown $450,000 and still be paying less for him and BLM than we are paying Collaros with BLM's restructured deal.

Hope he goes east but have a bad feeling he's headed to Calgary.

Not quite. BLM is for 225k. We're not paying ZC over 600k this year.

The agent can offer that info but the second any CFL team comments back to that agent it's tampering. The very definition of it. You are not allowed to discuss players under contract with another team with their reps. PERIOD. You can back channel that info certainly though.

Not really, but they could sure come in cheaper than our first and 2nd combined.

Unless the current team has given the player permission to seek a trade.  When Evans got sent to BC, a new contract was needed in order to make the trade happen so his agent was negotiating with the Lions even though he was still under contract with Hamilton.

Fair enough. However, I doubt this was the case as he is a pending FA and has no trade value at all.

Yup, I doubt there were many interested teams last year when Hamilton was shopping him around so he would already know what the market looked like for him.

True, It's not like he played any differently from the year before and really not much has changed in the QB market.

It would be the biggest mistake not to sign Schoen & then he comes back to haunt us if he plays for someone else.

Agree. You keep lawler and schoen at all costs right now. Bailey is likely the odd man out.

id bring him into camp. At his best he’s an elite sam who is as good filling a gap and playing the run/screen as any db in the league. Big time physicality, loyal to a fault, and a great community guy.
Idk if he still has it, I think he’s being made a fall guy personally. Wouldn’t give him 100k but I’d bring him in for 80-90 maybe with incentives.
We went hard after him twice as a fa too.

Thats true. Collusion in the cfl is a way of life though. In pro sports in general. The nba can’t stop it. How many times in the last decade have people been punished for it? The cfl created a pre free agency negotiation period in the off season entirely because they couldn’t stop or even limit collusion. Tampering is the worst kept secret in all of sports. The dirty truth is every one knows and no one acknowledges.

Doesn’t matter where they come from lmao a teams ability to use a guy doesn’t change if he sits on another teams pr before he’s signed, or plays some place else first. Shake your goofy head.

Any speculation where Cornelius ends up? DT on OB speculated Winnipeg on twitter.

he is truly awful, but he's basically the same guy as Prukop. If for some reason Prukop doesn't come back, then he could be the short yardage specialist..... but he's not a guy that's ever going to be a starting QB of ANY quality in this league.

On the assumption Brown would be the starter.  Hard money to hard money.  BLM's deal is a chunk up front and enough play time incentives that I sort of wonder if they told him he's the starter to get him to take the pay cut.  That or he knows he wouldn't get signed if they cut him.  Either way if BLM isn't playing his contract is only a touch more than a basic veteran backup deal.

I think cheapest anyone gets Brown is 3 years 1 M hard money with bonuses and incentives to push him toward 500 K per year.  Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Hamilton are the teams with the cash.  Calgary would trade Maier if they get Brown.  And I think Ottawa would gladly take Maier and the $105,000 guaranteed for basically nothing if they don't get Brown.

Edmonton could come off the top rope with a crazy 1 year deal to duel with Ford.
