Week 11 - Blue Bombers (7-2) @ stumps(3-6) - GDT

CFL-2022-July-15-Winnipeg-Blue-Bombers-v

And the skinny from our man Tait:

Scene setter:

The Blue Bombers (7-2) and Stampeders (3-6) reached the midway point of the season last week moving in opposite directions. Winnipeg is on a three-game heater since the shocking collapse in Ottawa, including last week’s 38-29 win in Edmonton in which Dru Brown came off the bench to throw for 300 yards and four TDs – erasing a 22-0 deficit in the process. The Stamps, meanwhile, have lost three of their last four, including last week’s 37-9 mauling by the B.C. Lions.

The big news heading into this one is Brown getting the start for Zach Collaros, who did not practice all week.

  • That's unnecessary roughness, but a guy jumping on the QB's head is no penalty.

Our coaching is absolutely ******* horrendous on game day

And depth chart day.  A guy like Augustine is a good example of someone who has outlived his usefulness.  Calgary was attacking his lane on punt all night.  We don't use him on O to the point we are dressing an American blocking back.  Why not put someone who can at least play teams and take some reps on DL or something on the roster?

McCrae.  What a ******* mess.  That guy could cost you a close game as a returner.

Would be a shame if you all chose Bombers in LOTW

McCrae is helpful on O but as a punt returner it's not working, what happened to Lawler tonight?

We could keep McCrae on as a backup RB/receiver no problem.  Add Parker for Jackson, figure out which DB is going to handle returns.

What a weird and ugly game. Road win with a backup QB sounds good but we are lucky to come out of there with this one. Stunned we just didn't roll Oliveira more. Buck seemingly called the same pass concepts over and over...zone reads with a lead pass catcher out of the backfield...that was tough.

Kudos to the defense for winning the game.

So basically McCrea won us the game!

You’re not wrong.

Brown couldn't hit receivers ..he not ready for primetime...and I still stand by my opinion he isn't QB of future here

Stumps DB’s played well.

No...Parker for McRae...anyone of Fox..Haba or Garbutt for Jackson

This game is a real good lesson and one we should have learned the last two West Finals.  When it's harder to go vertical our offense really bogs down.

Gameplan better to deal with this.  It's windy on the prairies in the fall.

Could do that.  But we have no coverage for Oliviera then.  Augustine can't play, I know they think he can.  He's a major liability on ST now and not having him out there on O ever doesn't bode well for him being able to contribute at all.  Just a body I guess if we needed.

Wish they would have let him attack downfield more. Let Kenny go get it

Plus 5 with the wind tho.

Not pretty. Not the best called game either by buck. Very trying not to lose mentality

Our punter ******* sucks. We netted out like 10 yards

Don’t we have like 5 other global punters on the practice roster?

I wonder is Zach calls some of his own plays and or changes it up in the huddle. Where as Dru was just doing what Buck was calling. Did seem like a completely different play book tonight. But could have been a lot of factors.
