Prolly woke socialist Commie libtards the governmentally controlled radical left CBC interviewed. Fake news.

One person said Khan looked upset and Wab said it was "intense" which is not the strongest denial.

It will be interesting to see how much of a factor this 'spat' turns out to be

The parties are not that far apart in the polls, and the Liberals have recently had solid showings in by-elections

Here's what I would say could be some potential swing ridings:

  • Dauphin
  • Selkirk
  • Radisson
  • Southdale
  • Fort Whyte
  • Brandon East
  • McPhillips
  • Fort Richmond
  • Rossmere

IMO, whoever wins most or all of these, will be in majority territory

I'm in Radisson and the NDP candidate has already knocked on my door.  They are starting early over here.

Regardless of the party they represent, I hope you all grill them with specific questions, concerns you may have as a Manitoban and where they specifically stand on them and not just what their brochure says.

Liberals tend to do well in by-elections, as they can focus all their limited resources. In the general election, they'll focus only on those that they have a legitimate chance to win. That will not be too many seats.

Obach has his team on the ground in Selkirk.  He is going to need a solid campaign. The riding now stretches into Clandeboye, Petersfield and Netley.  Those areas of the riding shade more into blue.

I'll add i lost a ton of respect for Obby. A few short years ago he was a respected restaurant owner and business man then he got in to politics and in my opinion, this is where he lost my respect.  Obby was a liberal 2 3 short years ago, now he's conservative.

To me, while not completely proving he's full of crap, I lean towards him being full of crap. I get how politics work, I get it, you are who wants you in their party, I get it,  I know ppl in politics who are liberals but work for the conservatives or represent them. I get it and I get ppl can change their views on things, maybe obby did for real over the last 2 3 years but it just annoys me he was liberal but now conservative.  Like pick a party really u know. To me, not a guy who wants to make meaningful change but just wants to be a politician and thats the problem here. Got in because of who he was, not what he did or anything meaningful really. Like a celebrity politician, the worst kind

Like Thomas Steen representing Elmwood EK in my younger days.

Just a celebrity politician who in the end did **** all.

As for Wab, I just don't see him being a great option as leader of this province. I think we might regret that more than we think in the end.

I guess I'll just say, sometimes the devil you know is better than the one you don't

I would say most people have a pretty good sense of who both leaders are

Also, the PCs are losing most of their key MLAs - so whoever gets elected will be governing with an inexperienced group

In that sense, they are both the 'devil we don't know.'

Ralph Klein was also once a Liberal, that was until he concluded he had no chance of getting elected in Alberta under that banner, so he switched parties.  The lure for most politicians is the access to power, who knows what trouble Obby will get himself into if he gets closer to the thrown.

No Liberal is ever going to be elected to the AB Provincial Legislature so Klein switching to the PC's was a good move for him.

At least we've established that the PCs are devils. I don't want them anywhere near power for a generation. The damage they've done is immeasurable. The messee up so much.

Can't be soon enough.

Anyone but the PCs.

Stefanson has certainly been an uninspired leader who isn't Premier material. Hard to believe that she was the best of the bunch.

The current Premier and the current Health Minister are incompetent boobs, they would run a lemonade stand into the ground. The former Premier and Health Minister were not much better, but the NDP have a problem with Wab either precieved or real he just rubs people the wrong way and is a bit of a hot head. Liberals are about as popular as the Green party. Not much to choose from in the upcoming elections.

Name a competent PC candidate.

Is it also possible that knowing the broader political landscape limits the "strategic voting" during byelections? NDP/Liberal winning the byelection where Obby won would not have had meaningful impacts on ruling party or majority/minority and those votes were fairly split if I recall. Same with the one that Kevin Klein recently won. I'm wondering if people choosing "anything but PCs" would limit Liberal support in close ridings.

Maybe I'm not recalling at the moment, but has Wab really done all that much as a party leader that shows he is a hothead, or just his past? I was surprised at his restrained response while Lagimodiere defended residential schools in front of him when he was named as Minister of Indigenous Relations. I don't think many who have had a parent in residential schools would say "we're willing to give you a chance" after what Lagimodiere was saying.

While I was confirming that Wab's dad attended residential schools, I found this article where Wab mentions his anger issues: Wab Kinew on the legacy of residential schools | CBC Radio | CBC Radio

Is Rochelle Squires running again?

I have nothing but good things to say about Squires. I disagree with some of her conclusions but I've never seen a minister throw herself into a job the way she did, listen to everyone and read everything.

If there was a model for how to approach the role as MLA and Minister, she would be it.

Squires first SA (Special Assistant) was none other than current MP Raquel Dancho.

Dancho was a candidate for the PCs in Wolseley. A sacrificial lamb who did her job and then snuck in to steal the nomination in Kildonan St Paul.

Another that I've liked is Eileen Clarke, but she is older and moving on.

It's a tough portfolio (indigenous and northern affairs)  to hold as a PC Minister, especially when your boss is a bigot. She did about as well as anyone could under the circumstances  She has earned a lot of respect and never backed down.
