interesting......though I really didn't think Castillo was all that good last year. It's purely anecdotal, but I seem to recall him missing plenty of FGs/PATs.....

Yeah he had a down year last year but we dont win the 2021 Grey Cup without him IMO. I would take him back in a heartbeat if the finances work.

Did better then Legs and also has proven that he can kick during the play offs without choking.

Castillo averaged 38 yards per punt last year before returns legs averaged 46.9. Legs missed 5 Castillo missed 3 xpts. 82.1% for legs and 84.1 for Castillo. Castillo averaged 60 yards per kick off legs 63.9.

castillo also made 77.8 percent while here in 21, and missed an xpt. Legs is 26 Sergio is 32, Sergio’s deal is worth up to 146, legs max is 80k. The cost difference is basically pic a none star starter and cut them to get Sergio back. Ba level guys.
Legs is hands down the best value in a specialist both in not costing a di and in cap space.

castillo was good in one play off run. Don’t forget before medlock was the golden leg here he was run out of the nfl for being a un reliable choke artist.
Getting blocked isn’t legs fault. If it is then blame the 01 gc loss on bob Cameron for having his punt blocked. Just like 01 half the team choked with lots of guys higher on the list of responsibility.

Jesus...... well that sounds like it's going to be a done deal. Wow...that's wild. So they can just go cut this basket full of kickers they just brought on board. Ha ha.

I'd be surprised if we don't.  There's obviously interest there if we were talking trade recently.

Id be surprised if he did sign with us. Considering we’ve got like 7 p/k for camp and the salary he’d command. Unless he takes a really team friendly deal.

Unless he goes south or waits it out (like he did in 2021), I don't know that he has too many options?  It's pretty close to camp and most teams are set at kicker.

I would bet that the trade discussion was floating around draft pick stuff. Bombers always looking to make moves.

small did well mid way through for Hamilton, but I could see them going for depth and competition. I could see the riders going after him too.

Guess the elk are going rookie global at k that’s jonesy

Certainly not a lot of options but usfl then trying back mid season is probably his best move

Gotta say that I would feel a lot more confident with Sergio in crunch time....Leggs seems to get the yips in certain situations.....He's still very good at what he does and the missed point that cost us in the Cup was not all on him.....BUT ....that's the problem with him ...there's always that BUT....can a few more years get him the confidence he seems to need AND can we afford to wait ... Bombers managements call

Castillo was clutch in 2021 after the Bombers got him.

If they can get him back and it works for the SMS, I'm all for it.

More competition with a proven veteran in the mix seems is a win-win, IMO.

How about no kicker? Just Lieggs for kickoffs and we don't kick a single FG or EP?

the only thing I'd say against bringing Castillo in is, how does Leggs ever grow if you don't let him try....... now you could say that last year he had his chance and wasn't good enough, but......it's one year. Still, I could get behind Legs doing KO/Punt, and Castillo FG/PATs.... if that's what The Trinity deem appropriate.

Collaros tossing to the end zone is waaay better than any kicker. run up the score like a ****** juco team.

Nobody celebrated the 2021 Grey Cup harder than Sergio

I love his personality. He’s the kind of crazy you want your kicker to be. His stories about being with the jets are great too.

So you agree to my original point that he did better then Legs at kicking field goals and PAT's last season and that comparing play off performances between the two guys over the last 2 seasons that Castillo did better.

Noeller nor I mentioned punting ,  and nothing says that we can't have Legs punting and Castillo place kicking.

I think the difference between them last year was a marginal coin flip in kicking. Iirc one started cold one finished cold. Pick ‘em to me.

the point of having a Canadian is saving that di spot though. Burning a di and a roster spot on the three jobs is a tough pill. And the money if Sergio is still pricy. I wouldn’t run two roster spots and 200k+ cap space on the three roles.

That was fast lol.
I wonder if we don’t cut some rookies now. Can’t imagine we go into camp with like 6-7 rook legs, plus legs and Castillo.

I would think they would cut some of the American kickers they signed.  Especially the punter.  I just don't see them carrying two Americans on the roster to handle kicking duties.  The way I view it Castillo is the place kicker and there's a battle between Leggs and the globals for the punting job.  Leggs would be hard to beat out because he provides placekicking depth as well.  But perhaps with the unexpected money being spent on Castillo they would look at an Global punter as a cost cutting measure because you don't have to pay globals the league minimum if my memory serves me correct.

Honestly if it were 2013 you might have a point with this.  But they are playing to win NOW.

Liegghio is far more valuable being a great punter than being a mediocre kicker and a good punter.  Think Rob Maver.  He was picked in the first round to do all 3 jobs, pretty quickly realized he wasn't a great kicker.

The other part is that Liegghio is good as gone to the GTA after this season.

What about the Bombers tells you it's a growth & development team? This is a win now organization. There's a lot of veterans in the sunset of their careers. Obviously, there is a lot of disatisfaction with Liegghio. There's no time waiting for him to develop. He's had 2 seasons to figure it out & he still has issues with pressure. The Bombers are ready to move on, it seems. If Walters & O'Shea are ready to move on from Legs then I'm okay with that.

I've said the exact same thing here about Maver about 6 or 7 times this past year just to fall on deaf ears.
