Playoff Update

Week 14 update:

Bombers have clinched a crossover playoff spot. Would clinch 3rd in the West with a win over Saskatchewan this weekend. Any combination of Bomber wins and Calgary losses totalling 3 clinches a home playoff game for Winnipeg.

No other club can mathematically clinch this weekend.

Week 15 update:

Winnipeg has clinched no worse than 3rd in the West. Can clinch 2nd and a home playoff game with a win and a Calgary loss this week.

BC and Calgary have both clinched no worse than 4th in the West. Neither can mathematically clinch a crossover spot this week.

Saskatchewan can finish no better than 2nd in the West. They can clinch no worse than 4th in the West with a win this week.

Edmonton can finish no better than 4th in the West. Will be eliminated from playoff contention with a loss this week.

No Eastern team can clinch or be eliminated from playoff contention this week.

Edmonton is horrible. Chris Jones will run like hell somewhere else this off season.

He's gonna go get a new job somewhere else and try and bring in his football thought process.....

"I have a hammer for these nails but I'm gonna see what this curling iron can do"

Only 5 games left for the Big Blue, with 2 byes

Ham, bye, Ssk, Edm, BC, bye BC

This is going to be huge for keeping the team fresher and healthier

they'll start resting guys before too long, and thankfully we're playing some shitty ******* teams down the stretch, which will make it easier on the back-ups that will be playing...

My goodness, with Rourke down there really is no reason to lose a game again this year.

Chris Jones is doing the best he can with a bad lot he inherited. I would think this offseason he will look to make an imprint on the roster.

yeah...Jones as much as a knob that he is....is basically auditioning guys all year to find what he wants/needs....get a base going and will augment thins winter/spring...I bet next yr they could be in the convo for 3rd place...but....thats if he actually doesnt cripple his SMS with stupid Lawler like contracts...same with B.C....this may have been their yr to make serious hay....cause next yr, if Rourke doesnt re-negotiate....or if he is gone and they have to pay VA or some other starter with real QB money and not peanuts...their roster is gonna look a lot weaker

Jones could make stupid offers this year because he knew full well this whole season was auditions of young guys for next year. He won't have that luxury next year, Elk fans will demand progress.

In his defense... at least he owned the blowout loss to Calgary the other day... per the usual, Dickenson and the excuse makers just went ahead and blamed everyone else.

Dicklesson's post game interview just sounded like a beaten man with no answers, and almost no clue....

Feels like Jones first year in Saskatchewan they were terrible but he found enough pieces to build around and they were much better the second year.

Yep, by laying on the field and taking injury time outs, when the opposition starting pressuring them...

Stay tuned, his actors are being assembled, shenanigan football at its finest!!!

Domino effect. Can't pay all the receivers the cash they make now. Then there DL, LB & DBs. Their OL stinks but they still overpay Chungh. He's almost half of what they'd pay a QB so you can see how effed they are as a team next year. Terrible salary management allottment. TheLions were built to make a challenge this year. Like the Riders were in 2013 & then years of futility after.

I wonder if it's just literally that, the constant rotations, maybe he's taking notes on positions and personal in those spots and building for next season?

That’s it back to Regina.

Glenn Suitor referred to what Jones is doing as a "21 week pre-season"

Oh boy- I think there is a good chance that we won't lock up first place in the west... BC looks good with VA. there is a possibility that they can make a huge run to get first place.

Ssssssshhhhhh...not allowed to say that here.

For us to clinch first, we need a combination of wins and BC losses totalling 4 (or 3 if we win one of the head-to-head games with them). Bombers clinch first if they win all 3 of their remaining home games. If they split their games with BC, then the Lions need to win all of their other games and the Bombers need to lose all of theirs (and the Bombers have both Edmonton and Saskatchewan at home).

One bad loss and you guys just derail.

It's been awhile since one of these games  (apparently 2015, ironically ZC8 did it to us as a TiCat) so the trolls have been champing at the bit to drop some "O noes!1!"

BC was a missed field goal away from a loss and suddenly they are going to run the table?

We lost by 20 to Hamilton at home in 2019.

That would be great if this was the 2019 iteration of the Bombers.

I am not saying the sky is falling- just saying I have some concerns. Things would be much better if we won last night and if BC lost.
