Riders @ RedBlacks

IPUgh, little frustrating to already be on bye at only week 2, but here we go.

It will be Fajardo starting tonight they say, albeit if Dickenson has subscribed to his old boss Chris Jones's way of doing things, Harker will be on the field if he doesn't get enough consistency going.

Hard to say who's got the bigger test of fire in this one.

For SSK, question could be whether or not they're better or worse off not having Collaros run the offense given some of his dwindling level of play.  Gonna have a better idea of what their current backups look like tonight.

For Ottawa, well yes they did what they had to do last week to get the win, but can't help but feel they got a lot of luck from CGY beating themselves as well.  Gonna have a bigger challenge against the SSK defense tonight for sure.

Gonna be a revealer of which team is who we thought they were

I think we're all missing the point, the Saskatchewan RoughRiders are 0-2 on the season and in last place.

  • One more of these posts ... and it will have been said more times then the Riders will have wins.....

  • really is best case scenario, now the Riders think Fajardo is a quarterback and will waste more time with him.

How did you come to this assessment after Dom Davis torched you guys?  What positives did you see in that performance?

LOL If Sakstechewan finishes 9-9 that would be considered me a major win. No way they’re even close to a 500. Team right now.

I am honestly a bit surprised that ripper still has his tail between his legs.  This place is very accommodating to him compared to how we are treated on that other site.... he needs to respect that.

re.... BigBlue204.......... I'm just saying I had no problem taking my lumps over there over the simplest questions immediately after a game.... so I find it funny he hides for a few days before starting up again.

All in good spirits.

regarding what?

Still waiting on our resident Rider fans analysis of the game. Ripper. Are you ok with the loss? Are you concerned? What went wrong? What needs fixing if anything?

Shivers made the mistake of letting Davis run around. He's a nothing as a qb, should have made him stand there and throw, same a s Masolli.   We sat in zone too much and we got scorched on it. Shivers will get better, I hope, but I feel the majority of the loss sits at his feet.  Offense looked good, but its just one game. We lost and that's all that matters. We lost 2 winnable games against two bad teams

so does that make the Riders the worst of the bad teams..seeing as you lost to both...all excuses aside, good teams don't lose due to excuses

Shivers wasn't on the field though making plays...your DB's were being beat repeatedly, and the d-line didn't get any sustained pressure or push so maybe it's overated expectations of personnel, or just not that good of personnel

Riders have already developed a losing culture and without Jones hope will fade fast. By midseason all will be lost. If you can't beat the bad teams now, it's only going to get worse.

That's a concern

Honestly its hard to say which way we are going right now.  Good defensive showing in one game, and good offensive showing in the other. Guess we will see where it goes from here.  We made changes, it will take some time. I haven't been happy with Dickensen so far

he seems overwhelmed and almost stunned...to be honest

He definitely looks over whelmed.  But to listen to his interviews, he makes it sound like its no big deal.  What people say and what people do are two different things.  What they do is a window to the soul.  So far he looks over his head.  BUT lets be honest, other coaches have been down this road too.  That's why I mentioned that we will have to wait and see what we have.  I didn't really want to hire him.  You can't hire a rookie head coach and not give him a fair opportunity to get things going his way. Two games is not enough time.

Dickenson doesn't look overwhelmed to me,  frustrated more so from what I saw.   Claybrooks looked overwhelmed and in over his head IMO.

That’s a 4 win team at most.

I'd say 3 now...with a crap QB and offence you can expect a game..maybe two like that where the offense clicks and you pound out a win...but since that supposed "vaunted" defense played as to what they are...they didn't get the win...we'll see if the T.O game on the weekend was an abberation due to rust and no real game action to date...if they come out with a chip on their shoulder and beat the Rider's...man things gonna get ugly out there....

So true it needed to be posted twice -- I concur!

Honestly, all that really needs to be said is:

If the players on the riders are as shitty as people have said, (which I accept) and the depth is as bad as people have said, (same) how can you properly evaluate Dickenson as a head coach?

They have no quarterback.

I would venture to guess they will win between 3 and 5 games this year. At most.

And only because they play Toronto and Montreal twice.

Dickenson is older & been a part of different coaching staffs so he's been exposed to different coaching styles & philosophies. In fairness to Craig, if a lot of coaches lost their staring qb after just 3 plays into the opening season & had virtually inexperienced rookies to replace him they'd look lost or frustrated too.  Dickenson knows how to coach football. He just needs more time.  O'Day has to get him decent players.

As far as Claybrooks goes, he's only coached with one team  for a short time so he's pretty inexperienced. I think he may be a bit overrated. Huff recruited & signed a lot of great defensive players like Ciante Evans, Micah Johnson, J'Gared Davis  & Alex Singleton. Any defensive coach would be a genius with the players he had on D with the Stamps. He doesn't have those players anymore. He doesn't have Huff for guidance & to offer advice. He's on his own with an impatient GM in Hervey probably wondering if he made a mistake hiring him. In Claybrooks case, we're going to see awfully fast if the organization made The Man in Calgary or if he's capable of coaching a winner in BC with the players he has.  I'll be honest with you, I think his inexperience will be his undoing. That he wasn't quite ready for Prime Time. There's quite the step up from DC to HC.
