Sorry but I don't like the total silence coming out of Bomberville, but that's just me; I like action and news  like all of you.  Yes we've extended a contract or two and we are distributing the year-end money before the 2018 salary cap  comes in.

But what are the deep thinkers in our organization planning to do?

 I hope they are not thinking status quo; that never seems to work out well. Unless we are dedicated to making sharp improvements here and there, I believe we atrophy from last year.  

After the 2017 NFL cuts were made did we bring in any linebackers for a sniff? I saw other prospects up here but maybe I missed something.

We have got to fix what's broken and I think somehow management must know more than we do ... we are good prognosticators with our comments on this site but I would like management to show us up. 

We are not hearing a lot of news out of the Calgary and Edmonton football clubs so maybe our Blue Bombers are an elite club now (as we join those two in their silence). 

But man I hate twiddling my thumbs as I wait to see what our local gurus are going to do. No news is bad news, say the bored ...  Well at least were not coming off seasons like Ottawa Hamilton and Montréal had.

So maybe I should be grateful for our club and its management.

jake doesnt help us one bit if we choose to go all import on the dline...why sub in a lesser player when u dont need to

and if he was signed as the starter Canadian position on defense...thats regression from last year...it's westerman now...or a ratio switch

If somebody wants to give Westerman more than 200k more power to him, the Bombers should focus on other players that want to be here

if he signs in Montreal for 200 or a shade over he is just plain dumb...brother there or not

seeing what other guys signed for..and some signing for less to be here...they are team guys and guys who u build around..Guess ol Westerman just playing for the money and name on the back of the jersey and not the name on the front and the chance to be part of something good

Feel like there has been a big market correction in high end salaries.

I’m so confused as to floyd’s take on Fenner, to be honest. You think 2016 Fenner would be better?  Based on what? He played spare parts of 8 games. He established himself as a player in 2017.

Been a long time, mike!

he didn’t ‘play sparingly’ he was signed midseason - I remember thinking he was a legit player

2017 he was moved around a lot in that D - this is good and bad imo

i like fenner as a backup Sam fogg type but he’s no ballhawk and Richie hall needs that even if he thinks he doesnt

I didn’t realize he was an ST hotshot so I’m ‘okay’ with the $$ 

to me he’s heir apparent to leggett at SAM not really an elite boundary HB 

a year ago we loved Mark Washington ... now we have three BC DBs who were ‘hamstrung’ by his system...

They still gave up fewer passing yards than we did and led the league in pass knockdowns.

So with Bowman and Fenner they choose less money to be with a solid organization....   it sure pays off treating your players well and having a clean good locker room.    That extra money really will help!

 

As for MLB....  it's not impossible to recruit at that position.   I 'd like to see several new guys at camp and who knows maybe the next Barrin Simpson /  Joe-Lob will show up and win the job.

One year contracts means there's always lots of good players with CFL experience available.  Some players really screwed over by that.

There was a time it was real difficult to attract FA's here.......that was then.

Fenner is a good SAM and a decent HB but not great

Not to mention all the undisciplined penalities he takes... we’ll be okay without him. Just like we were for the remainder of the season after he went down 

Yup and at a position that is based largely on speed and strength. Two things that decline rapidly with age.

Seems the Blue did gave it the ole college try with Westerman.......time to let it go.

Meh, look at the average age for elite rush ends ... Westerman’s age wouldn’t be a big issue in my opinion.

Rotational guys sure. NFL teams usual have rush ends that pretty much only play on passing downs so they can stay fresh and play well into their 30's. Westerman plays the majority of snaps and really didnt look all that explosive to me last year.
