Saskatchewan @ Toronto

CFL.ca Staff Game Notes

Lose and you go home...

*Since 1961 (when inter-Division play began) Saskatchewan actually holds an edge playing in Toronto – 26 wins to 21.

(By comparison in Eastern road games, the Riders are 14-24 at Montreal and 18-26 at Hamilton)

*This game pits the CFL’s two best first down teams – Toronto averaged 7.00 yards per play and Saskatchewan was at 6.96.

*One key 2017 difference was in QB Sacks Made – Toronto is tied at #1 with 50, Saskatchewan ranked #8 with 27.

*Saskatchewan swept Toronto in their two-game series in 2017 and have now won the last three times they have played the Argos.

*Saskatchewan won both 2017 meetings despite trailing by deficits of 10 points (Jul 29/17) and 13 points (Oct 7/17).(Saskatchewan outscored Toronto by a combined 38 to 18 in the second half and won after trailing each game at half-time)

*The second half comebacks were led first by Kevin Glenn (Jul 29th) and then on Oct 7th by Brandon Bridge. (Oct 7th: Bridge threw for 292 yards and two TDs off the bench leading five scoring drives in his seven possessions at QB)

*Ricky Ray threw for 300+ yards in both games with five TD passes and 74 per cent completion mark.

*James Wilder was held to 107 yards rushing on 24 carries; the Riders are the last team to keep him under 100 yards.

*Duron Carter had games of 131 & 71 yards with two TD catches and five going for clutch second down conversions.

*S.J. Green had games of 68 & 76 yards with two TD catches and five second down conversions on just 14 total targets.

*FG perfection: Tyler Crapigna made all seven of his FG attempts while Lirim Hajrullahu went five-for-five on his tries.

*Bakari Grant added 200 receiving yards on 12 catches – the most yards he had against any opponent in 2017.

?‍?But for all that, I’m saying it’s Jones vs Trestman, and may the best man win...

  • Not sure why you want to harp on Bluto so hard about this.  As far as fans from other teams posting here, Bluto has always been one of the better ones and any back and forth has been IMO friendly bant

  • Funny story: at work we keep the lobby television on the local 24 hour news station. Been that way for years. Now, I've heard the occasional Argo score announced on there... I've seen the cheerleaders

First thing I found when I went on that site was, a thread with a bunch of whining idiots complaining about a suplex being a penalty, and Glenn's chest being grazed by a hand not being a RTP call. Not only that, but the same posters admitted that they didn't think it should be a penalty but they've seen it called before so it is a penalty today.

My problem with that play is consistency. If they're going to call it, it needs to be called on every play, but the refs pick and choose. Can't blame the refs for this, though. It was a poorly executed game, and we are lucky to have threatened them at the end.

Some fans are complaining too much, and it's not warranted. I don't think any fans should be complaining too much about this game, after the season we had last year.  We're lucky to have gone this far.

Yup, Glenn might not be there next year and I don't think Bridge is the answer.

Might not be?? How in the hell could they bring the guy back?  How many games in the regular season did he start and then was pulled by Bridge who immediately tripled his output?       Glenn will play 1 game with the Eskimos and then retire.  He is done.

I hate every ******* team and their fan base but there's a special place in hell for the people from the Gap who wear their green **** to every event in every venue on the planet. How nice, finally, to have the football gods lay out a great game plan to tease and give ‘dem ‘der greenies a taste of a tantalizing victory, then casually smile as they slapped the upstarts with reality, punctuated by a 3rd and 5 to win the game, only to fall under the x-Ray spell.

Perhaps, when they return to Regina, and not Ottawa as they planned, they can all sit together and watch that game movie over and over again.

No charge of course...

Sweet.

Sadly, I’d still take him back as our backup at this point.

Nah- he's just getting himself cleaned up after romancing that pig. I am sure he will be back to gloat about what a successful season the cryders had and Jones is the one and coitus is not illegal if you put lipstick on a pig first.

regardless:

I went to two games back-to-back this year in Southern Ontario and wore Bomber gear.  I had everyone under the sun talking about the Bombers to me.  Maybe there is something to this...

Lol mfranc. He is doing everything possible to console himself over at the Rider forum. On page 1 of the western final thread he mocks the Stamps calling them the "ultimate underachievers". On page 2, as the game turned, he mocks the Esks calling them the "Edmonton EskiChokes".

Have a good winter Rider fans...and cheer up! You still have that one shopping mall.

Good for you Bluto.  So glad they beat the Riders .  I couldn't handle that fan base as it is, much less if they were in the GC.

Yes, Rod, clearly that was the intent..

And your thinking is as reasonable as Maas’s decision to kick a FG. Perhaps his intent was to have Calgary in the Grey Cup?

At least you fit in with rest of the team..

What an idiot Pederson is. And then they wonder why every other fanbase just laughs when the Melonheads lose.

"Proud of the boys" "team has come so far" "future is bright".  Funny, I was told repeatedly that daddy,s rider team,s attitudes were dead yet I still read loser consolation cliches.

You can take the lovable out of the loveable loser but.......

Riders got Ricky Rayed.
