HardCoreBlue reacted to do or die in Odds and Sods - Winnipeg Expansion Team vs Ottawa RedBlacks
Key game.... Bombers need a good start.....
Nope.... A. Kelly bounces pass like a seal...for a RB 6...
Bombers needed a strong end to the half.....
Nope....Grigsby drops TD pass.
We throw a bomb on 3rd and 5.....turnover
Redblacks shred our D for a TD to end the half....
Redzone execution is not a Bomber specialty
Breaking tackles is not a Grigsby specialty....
Clarence Denmark is a competent player....
....but some question marks around the rest of the receivers...
RB Williams looks like a rising star.....
....helped by the Bombers horrible minor league tacking..,...
Short yard situations + shoddy tackling = killer gains....
T. Sherman had just an atrocious night in space......terrible....
Leggett had a 114 missed FG touchdown.....
...but evened out the scale with multiple missed tackles on D.....
Ottawa simply ate up them unbalanced D formations.....
...which make it sometimes impossible to stop the run....
...or in this case...another 188....
Meanwhile, Bomber OL did their pylon thing again....
January and Greaves really struggling out there.....
Willy really didn't play very well....
...but hard to...when NOTHING is going on around him....
Another 5 sacks and multiple hits on Drew....
Another plethora of penalties......
Kuale managed to snag 3 of them, before injury...
If the bench does not await, then I just don't know...
Under News at 11....Watson gets injured..left game
Our D had it all covered....no pressure, no tackling.....
Tonight....we looked like the expansion team, out there......
Need to start looking at guys at multiple positions.....
Need to take a hard look at our OC and DC, moving forward.....
Need to start benching guys for taking penalties/ poor play...
Need to start up my meds, again.....

Just f***ing win. By any means necessary, just f***ing win.

Willy's carrying the offense.
No run game, one consistent playmaker, a bunch of guys who show up once a month (Kelly, Bryant, Watson). Hard for me to put much blame on him. Our team just isn't very good.

HardCoreBlue reacted to johnzo in Time for some tough love on....
Our team is simply not good enough to give away ten points on special teams mistakes and still win.
(edit: ten points and a "turnover" on that roughing the kicker call)

Rider D-line and run game, not looking that great against non-Bomber teams

HardCoreBlue reacted to Mr Dee in Stamps @ Als
Whose idea was it to have a football game interfering with all these Hall of Fame interviews?

HardCoreBlue reacted to Jacquie in Stamps @ Als
After the interview that went forever last week was it really necessary to do another Never-ending one with Buono this game. Geez.

HardCoreBlue got a reaction from Mr Dee in Argos @ Leos - GDT - Burke's D vs Glenn
In my opinion, his facemaking penalty was worthy of an ejection.

HardCoreBlue reacted to Goalie in Jon Cornish Not Travelling To Montreal
Calgary is the team that you want to model yourselves after.. Canadian Depth, heck man, they had the best record in the league last year but had the first overall pick, Huff ain't playing around, why did he get that first round pick, outside of Desjardins stupidity, it's cuz Calgary has the depth at basically every position to make moves like that. Trade Gott? No problem, we will take Lavertu and still play Jones. Calgary is an example of what patience leads too. Depth Depth Depth, guys get hurt, guys come in, those guys get hurt, other guys come in. It took Huff years to get there, Calgary was in a bad place a few short years ago, Huff came in and changed things up and what you see now is what you get and what you get is probably the best team in the league all around, qb depth, rb depth, defensive depth, OL depth.. They are stacked. It took time but... look at them now. It wasn't too long ago that that oline lost tsoumpas to retirement. No tsoumpas? no problem.

HardCoreBlue reacted to 17to85 in Jon Cornish Not Travelling To Montreal
Calgary is just a really well coached team. They have the ability to perform no matter who goes into the game. They won a pile of games without Cornish already this year, no reason to think they can't beat Montreal without him.

HardCoreBlue reacted to TBURGESS in Free Press (Fan Vote) Picking All-Time Blue Bomber Greats
Ploen is Mr. QB in Winnipeg. No chance he didn't make it as the best as picked by the fans and the media. Winning Grey Cups is a team stat, not a QB stat IMHO, but I know a lot of folks disagree.
Brock was the best pure passer the Bombers ever had and it's not even close. Great QB who couldn't win the big game.
My choice was Clements. He took the team that Brock couldn't win the big game with and won the the cup with them. Not the strongest arm or the quickest feet, but he was a winner.
Dunnigan had some amazing games in Blue and Gold. Unfortunately we got him after the injuries had taken their toll and he was often injured and couldn't finish games. I'd rank him over Brock for his entire CFL career but lower as a Bomber.
Jones turned our team around. Great leader. Prolific passer. Good runner. Succeeded in spite of a poor O line. Certainly in the conversation as one of the great QB's in Bomber history.

HardCoreBlue reacted to blueandgoldguy in Free Press (Fan Vote) Picking All-Time Blue Bomber Greats
Tom Clements should be the picked over Ploen imo. He won multiple Grey Cups albeit only one with the Bombers, 2 -time CFL all-star with the Bombers, league MVP with the Bombers, 1984 Grey Cup MVP - all in 4.5 years with the Bombers, and less than that if you factor in half a missed season back in '86.
Compared to the peers of his era in the 80s, Clements is looked upon more favorably than Ploen, when he is compared to his peers in the 50s and 60s. That should play a factor in deciding who was the better QB for the Bombers - how the player compared to their peers. Clements wins this hands down.
Also, Ploen's accomplishments on the defensive side of the ball should be a non-starter. It's best QUARTERBACK in Bomber history, not BEST PLAYER.

HardCoreBlue got a reaction from AtlanticRiderFan in non-jets fans...
With some, maybe because of their parents i.e., Gretzky, Messier, Coffey, Fuhr et al era
-
HardCoreBlue got a reaction from iso_55 in TSN Jets... all Jets games now FREE with MTS TV
Why on earth would they black out Jet games in Alberta? That would be like blacking out the Bomber games in Alberta.
I do know the answer though that I don't like. It's because it's not our 'home' team.
They want us to follow the Flames and the Oilers. I told them my 'home' team is actually the Jets, I just happen to live in Alberta.

HardCoreBlue got a reaction from Mr Dee in NFL update on players potentially of Bomber interest
Does David Braley have to give his blessings for trades to happen? If the organizations are run correctly, my guess is no, therefore no conflict.
Not to mention the fact we're a nine team league. BC and Toronto have to have the option of dealing with one another.

There's people on here obsessed with the Riders? You realize you're a rider fan with over 500 posts on a Bomber board, right?

HardCoreBlue got a reaction from Mark H. in Hamilton then Ottawa then Edmonton
I'd add the mistake of receivers NOT fighting to get open will continue to spell disaster.
-
HardCoreBlue reacted to Blueandgold in Drew Willy injury
I feel like we're back in the Kevin Glenn era when our biggest concern was finding a decent backup QB. Mike Quinn, Tee Martin, Ryan Dinwiddie... boy we sure started some quality backups in those days.
-
HardCoreBlue got a reaction from Brandon Blue&Gold in Who said the run is not a problem?
Bend don't break defense approaches only work with an offense that can score 30 points+. It's caught up to us the last five games.

Soooo every starting QB in the west could be out for a period.......

I got nothing from Grisby. However after the Banjo Bowl, I ran into Dom Picard and he grabbed me and held onto my arm for a long time.
