I went ‘at times’ to look at the collection of curiosities at IG Field & Winnipeg Stadium, and it became somewhat known for its ineptitude - not speaking the language of football effectively. Some were greatly interested; others, after you talked to me them for a while, said they had long since given up on the Blue & Gold. They said die hard fans like ourselves were possibly so unique, that they could be displayed in a museum.

If they had known what it had cost to be loyal to the Bombers, they would also have known that it would break any museum to buy such loyalty. But A. Harris and co. have been hard at work on their craft, and they had made good progress, it has been accomplished under great difficulty and doubting, for many had given up on believing in the mean time.

What about the secret sauce then? There is no secret sauce - they worked hard and they won as a team.

Which head-coaching gig Lapo will choose?

    a. Ottawa - can tag Nichols, Streveller or Collaros with him. Arbuckle and Masoli are options too.
    b. BC - opportunity to work with Reilly
    c. Edmonton - opportunity to work with Harris
    d. none of the above

    😁

If Lapo and that's a big IF gets a HC opportunity next season.  I see the best fit to be in BC.

So, for a guy that can't read a defense, or throw a football because of his terrible mechanics, how did you like Streveler's pin-point-accurate pass to Andrew Harris for the TD? Not too bad for a crappy QB eh?

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally.  Huge difference in how the defence plays Streveler when he's the #1 vs. the #2 who comes in occasionally to run the ball or hand it off.

I was shooting at what would prob be the high mark...he will get a bump from last year from his what?..450k??...but I could see him too not holding out for huge money, he knows coming off injury he can't really

Nichol's executed it just as well...high efficiency just not as many deep shots as Collaros....but both were able to do this because they were Vet's with tons of experience in the CFL and can decipher things immediately and know all the looks pre-snap and how to attack...or not attack.

Streveler will get there...it takes time...he's in his 3rd yr next year, so it's his do or die season in showing he is gonna be legit...all legit starters plodded along pretty indiscreetly for 2..3..4..years before they became legit..Strev has seen..done..and accomplished a lot in his first 2 years moreso than most...he also has the respect and dedication to him from his teamates..which is huge and goes a long way

Booch I usually don't disagree with you but this time I must.  All you have to do is look at 2nd down conversions for both QB's.  I don't have stats but it sure looked to me Collaros had more success which obviously extended drives.  He was also able to escape pressure and make plays where Nichols would often be sacked or throw the ball away.

Two different QB's but I believe strongly that Collaros was significantly more effective.

Any chance we can pull a fast one on Toronto and trade Zach’s early negotiating right Zach to Ottawa without having to give up the first round pick?

But seriously I think we need to take a good hard look at re-signing Zach. He seems like a good fit. He’s a much better quarterback than Matt Nichols and with Streveler coming in a lot and a great offensive line and running game Winnipeg might be the only team that can keep Zach healthy.

If we don’t bring back Zach I think we need to go after Arbuckle.  I just don’t see the upside to Matt Nichols who has all the injury concerns you would get with Zach but without the top end ability that he has.

I honestly don't think the first rounder is an issue. The real issue is that it looks to be quite clear that Collaros isn't interested in coming back next season.

Arbuckle?   Not sold on him at all and to sign him as the #1 would be a huge risk.

  6. It's interesting how Collaros comes in and after 3 weeks with the team and takes the reigns of the offence and executes it masterfully. No other QB on the Bombers executed Lapo's offence like Collaros did.

I'm a huge Matt Nichols fan but watching Collaros over the last few games showed me that the offence under Matt Nichols was probably running at 70% efficiency. Then Collaros comes in and we finally see the offence running at close to 90%.

Will Collaros be back?  I highly doubt it.  So who gives us the best chance to win right now?  Probably Matt Nichols but it's also incumbent upon the OC (be it Lapo or someone else) to design an offence that works with Nichols strengths but more importantly his weaknesses.

I don't think Kyle is owed an apology. I don't recall him facing a ton of criticism like Lapo or Hall or even MOS at times.

When he was first hired he did.  Many didn't like the optics around his promotion and the fact he had no experience as a GM.  it was speculated that Miller hired his "buddy" without looking outside the organization.  Then when he hired O'Shea he was criticized that he didn't hire a experienced CFL coach.

  8. If were in an apologetic mood (it's so Canadian of us) than we also need to apologize to Kyle Walters.  I remember when he was promoted to the GM. Many on here were upset that he was promoted without an exhaustive search for a more seasoned GM.  And yes we had some lean years early on but man this team was decimated by previous regimes that knew nothing about building a stable franchise.  Rome wasn't built in a day and fixing all the problems with this team took awhile but finally paid off over the past 2 - 3 seasons.   I'm still not completely sold with the scouting staff but I'm seeing improvements there too. I've been out spoken about Danny Mac's scouting team and how they have yet to find the game breaker receiver and a QB prospect that could be our #1 for years to come.

I was on board with Walters from the beginning as I always thought who better to rebuild our Cdn talent then a Cdn who played the game. And knowing Wade Miller from previous business dealing I knew he wouldn't hire someone just because it was the easy thing to do. He would have had to share the same vision as Miller on how to rebuild the team and franchise as a place where players wanted to play.

Good hire and IMO the one person who is most responsible for this championship team.
