  1. It sucks that the Red Blacks will have a better QB than we will for the start of the 2014 CFL season.   It'll more than likely be Tate as the Stamps are leaning heavily on protecting Mitchell.

So unless Goltz pans out and starts to win.  We could be have a worse record than the new expansion team.  If I were Mack, I'd phone up Hufnagel right now and ask what it would take to get Tate in a Bomber uniform.  If it means next years #1 pick, then I say "Go For It".

  2. Nah, during the season you shouldn't see or hear Botchko in the media, and he certainly shouldn't be on the field like certain other presidents.

The exceptions are matters pertaining to revenue, parking, legal matters, advertising, etc.

During season, the team's performance is all on Burke and Mack. They should be held to the fire, and will be the first to go if the team stinks all year.

Bothcko's hour of reckoning will come in the off-season -- how his hires have panned out, the attendance, the numbers -- I only hope the board has the balls to punt him back to radioland if this ship keeps sinking.

Hey Nate...The name is Buchko.  So some respect.

  3. Road Griller has been playing that Roughtrade song over and over today. It goes a little Like this "he makes me cream my jeans".

J\k RG...hope your boy plays well tonight and we'll look back on tonight's game as Goltz's coming out party. And we'll celebrate many more victories in the coming years. Maybe a Grey Cup too.

  4. you beat me too it. Those comments are very nice to read cause it tells me that the stamps d-line has no idea what Goltz can do. Much more athletic than Pierce at this point AND much more aware and able to make a decision with the ball (ie. doesn't hold it as long)

Actually... We don't have any idea what Goltz can do. Yet many here are anointing him as the Mesiah. When will we ever learn not to pin our hopes on every 2nd string QB that suits up for our team.

I hope for our sakes that he's the next star QB of the league but really.

  5. Why not try Woods for a possible spark on returns.

Reebs,  I too can't wait to see what he can do.   But right now I'm cringing at the receiving corps, it's a pretty inexperienced bunch.

Doug Pierce, Isaac Anderson, Jade Etienne, Kohlert and Clarence Denmark.

This Matthews injury seemed to come out of the blue as well.

  6. Buck reminds me of Khari in his last year as a Bomber.  He was playing a timid game and more often than not, he threw off his back foot.   A QB that historically was  a pinpoint passer, was off the mark on many of his throws.   He was also reluctant to take the ball and run with it but I believe that had more to do with his injury status vs his unwillingness.

Khari was never able to get his groove back and finally did the right thing and hung it up and pursued the next best thing.  Coaching.

When I watch Buck, it reminds me of Khari at the end of his career.

  7. Woods (5-6, 180, Portland State, DOB: August 5, 1986 in Portland, Oregon) spent the last few seasons in the United Football League where he was a solid return man, winning the league’s special teams player of the year award in 2011 after finishing second in the league in all-purpose yards and averaging 23.6 yards per kickoff return.  He was a dynamic player at Portland State, leading the team in receiving as a junior with 66 receptions for 1,028 yards and six touchdowns, while also setting school records for kick returns (35) and kick return yards in a season (908) that he later broke the following year.  His career statistics of 88 kickoff returns for 2,222 yards are all-time school records.

I am thinking this is in response to JJ's fumbleitis.

My wish has come true.   :)

  8. The time-out was called to stop the clock before Whyte punted. He didn't exactly have a stellar day punting the ball so I would assume they hoped they would get good field position, run a play and, if successful, maybe try a field goal but as it turned out there wasn't enough time.

If that was the plan. Then why didn't the bombers attempt at least one long passing play to gain the necessary yardage to at least try a field goal?  IIRC, they ran a couple of plays on the ground.

To me it just seemed to be a wasted time out call.  Which in the end wasn't needed in the 2nd half but you never know.

  9. A team has two timeouts that can be used at any time of the game and not limited to one each half.  The only thing is, is that they can't take more than one timeout in the last three minutes of each half.

I ask as I wondered why they took a timeout near the end of the 1st half this week yet they proceeded to run out the clock and not even attempt to score.  They would have been better off to save it and use it in the 2nd half if they needed it.
