Atomic reacted to kelownabomberfan in Penton: Burris likely headed to Winnipeg?
But if Collaros choses Hamilton then what do we do? Go with Willy and Hall this year? I can't stand Burris either but the one thing I can't stand even more is losing.

We have a couple things to attract a QB.... namely a starting job and an open checkbook.

Atomic reacted to DR. CFL in Collaros to test free agency
Interesting statement? " all teams tamper we just don't hear about it" nothing like contradicting yourself. Tamper all you want nothing actually gets done before it can be registered after the deadline. So put all your cards out there now so someone else can out bid you. Might not be the best strategy

He's a rookie....first thing he needs to learn is not to say things that you may not be sure you can deliver .

I prefer him to Greg Marshall and that's about the best thing I can say about it.

Atomic got a reaction from iso_55 in Stamps extend Tate and Mitchell
I think Calgary is planning on starting the season with BLM as starter and Tate as the backup. In that case, McPherson is probably there to run short yardage because you don't want to risk it with Tate. It's not like they need to put a developmental guy at the third spot when their starter is 23.

Have you guys not seen the importance that this club has now invested in Canadians since the end of the season. They are not going to let the best young non import go.

Spuds loses points for getting the context of the reference wrong AND for seemingly doing a copy pasta on the quote as well. No geek points for you.

Atomic reacted to Milt in Bombers hire Queens DC Pat Tracey as Special Teams Coordinator
Try sitting in the stands for a full season of games where the team is out of it after 1 quarter. This team needs to get competitive in a hurry. There was 0 entertainment value in those games last year. A total chore to go to.

If Hamilton decides to move on from Burris, I think it's obvious that their first choice would likely be Collaros. And there have been rumours for awhile now that Hamilton might not be re-signing Burris, so it's not hard to put two and two together.

Years ago, I coached with a guy who was in his early 20's. He was 10-15 years younger than the other coaches on the team. The organization we were with thought he was ready for the step up to HC but he wasn't as he was too young. He was made HC of the bantam team we coached on. He became very bossy & demanding, yelling at the players & coaches constantly. There was lots of tension & arguing going on at practices especially. Turns out he wasn't a bad guy. He was just young & thought that if he yelled a lot that he would get our (coaches) respect. Well, after the President of the team sat him down he learned that he needed to earn our respect as coaches not just demand it. Being constantly in a coaches grill solves nothing. Once he realized that, he was fine. I kind of see the same thing going on here with the Bombers. We as fans, want this team to demand respect from other organizations. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. The Bombers will have to earn it by being professional in everything we do from now on.

when I play slow pitch I always run home. The third baseman could have the ball and I still go for it if they even slightly bobble it. I think I've gotten thrown out twice. catcher is where they put someones gf who ironically can't catch.
how would that work in the majors?

Atomic reacted to Zontar in BMO field possibly being upgraded
Sounds like a done deal. Not much to do with CFL mind you, this is about TML having penis envy of all the "winter classics" and no suitable place to hold one and MLSE achieving a an almost total monopoly of pro sports in TOR.
Its good news, eastern media interests will dutifully report on CFL more as a matter of corporate policy and it shows CFL isnt the economically toxic property the haters have been preaching for years.

Atomic reacted to gbill2004 in Scouting report on Zach Collaros
Interesting scouting report I found from 2011 when Collaros was coming out of College - thought I'd share:
Zach Collaros: No. 12 (6-0, 223)
A shorter, undersized quarterback prospect who seems to struggle to see over the line of scrimmage at times and routinely gets a number of his passes knocked down at the line. Plays mostly from the gun and does a good job with his pre-snap reads understanding the defense, locating his target and getting the ball out quickly. Stays compact with his footwork and his release is much quicker underneath. Possesses good touch and accuracy down the field, drops the football into tight areas and is very comfortable completing bucket throws down the field. However, the further down the field he’s asked to throw, the more of a wind-up he gets with his release and then he really needs to step up into throws in order to generate enough momentum for himself to get passes vertically.
Possesses a good feel in the pocket, and is a natural athlete who not only can buy time for himself but create with his legs. Is a “plus” runner for the position in the open field, has some wiggle to his game with the strength to bounce off a tackle and keep churning his legs. However, relies too much on his legs at times and his eye level has a tendency to drop too quickly. He’s at his best when asked to improvise, however, looks to create on his own too often. If his pre-snap read isn’t on, he has a really tough time going through his progressions from the pocket. Is limited to more of a one side-of-the-field, read-only guy who routinely looks to take off and run if nothing is on. Will hang in the pocket and stare down the barrel of the shotgun in order to deliver the throw. However, doesn’t stay real balanced with his footwork. He trusts his accuracy and touch and routinely will fall off throws or not set/reset his feet into a throw. Can create some plays out of nothing, but too often causes his accuracy to run hot/cold. Lacks a big time arm, spins a clean football, but doesn’t have the natural arm strength to really drive the ball outside the numbers.
Had to appear in court as a sophomore for being caught with a fake ID.
Impression: Looks more like an ideal CFL type quarterback where his athleticism and ability to improvise will serve him well. Lacks ideal arm strength, size and coming from a spread, his learning curve looks to be too severe to make an NFL roster.
