Moxey is playing field corner. If the guy in that spot is a net negative and it's not a spot you're trying to hide a Canadian (Matt Bucknor), that should be just about the easiest change to make on the entire roster. Moxey is a massive net negative towards winning. He hasn't made a single play this season other than a couple knockdowns late in games when we were already blown out. He's actively running away from making plays and bringing less than nothing. The effort level is embarrassing to watch as someone invested lifelong in this franchise. It's one thing to get beat, it's another to just visibly not give a damn or not want to compete. Hey there's a time when everyone is done. Get into coaching. We have 2 DB's on PR, 1 "LB." Make a move directly, Texada in at field corner for Moxey. Shift guys around. Put Nichols out there. He's clearly not up to moving/thinking fast enough anymore to playing boundary half, but I get he adds the vet presence, so stick him out at the field where he can isolate more on one guy and play downhill. Put Griffin at half, give more reps to Smith/Woodbey on D. Incorporate Vaval into some packages out there on D. We have a metric **** TON of players on D on this team. We have 24 guys dressed on the D side of the ledger for 12 on the field at a time. We need to play the guys who want to be out there, who will compete and execute.

I mean in the nfl heinz ward. In the cfl, wrs don’t often make a million bucks but demski and bailey made their bones with blocking and play away from the play. Ever team where blocking is expected and ingrained, gets blocking from wrs. the huge majority of ncaa and nfl teams running modern flex offences have their wrs blocking their asses off. We developed that in bailey and demski from desire and even more we developed that in schoen, who might’ve been the most coachable rookie in a generation. yeah and brady was being a great leader and teammate putting the shine on a very slight build wr doing some thing positive down field in the run game. which is great. And as i mentioned i don’t expect wilson to floor dbs like bailey and schoen did. My point is just that the mafia have lowered the bar to a pitiful level. Also, wrs who block their butt off, get a lot more yac, and come up with the ball more often. It’s one of those under rated basic tools that projects all over the wr job, once a guy does it well. It plays up huge for winning the physical and mental battle vs dbs especially late in games and seasons.

If we go back to using Woodbey as the nickel sub and not a second Canadian S that will help a lot. Playing a greenhorn QB should also help, but the lack of larger changes is concerning. Vanterpool suddenly being ready is a bit questionable too. If he's been game-ready for a week or two, they really should've sat Bryant. I know they don't want to do that, but he is just brutal. If they put him back out there in a couple weeks I will lose the rest of the hope I have for the short term. Vanterpool played soo well in limited reps at G last year, and is very well suited to RT.

you have 2 dbs on the PR...Vaval...not a impossible task for if anything to sit a few habitual suckers for a game...Slot Jackson or Vaval at a corner...Texada at a halfback spot...Heck with Woodbey back slot him at SAM and move Griffin to HB...as he prob our best db period...as well as SAM...And look how long it took Osh to figure that out...He didnt all of a sudden learn to play overnight And people worried about "yeah but Vaval is our returner" well news flash guys can do it just fine...and worrying about injury is just playing trying not to lose...A returner is more likely to get hurt returning than playing WR or DB That also just makes more sense to scrap the extra Cdn wideout for an Import who has return ability....Hello Singer....As well we could drop the last guy on roster for the Global import and see what he can do on ST and maybe the odd rep here and there where we used Hallet and Kelly to be abused...and if all the above changes dont pan out...or are exposed as not good...then bring in new blood till you find the right mix People say there no options...but you cant say that until given a chance..and maybe a bit of rope to cut their teeth...lord knows we have given quite a few vets over the yrs more than enough rope...and still couldn't pull the trigger

Significant changes doesn't have to mean quantity. As JBR said, you could literally take Moxey out, give someone else there a try and even just slightly below league average play would be a massive improvement for us. I don't know who is suggesting a TON of changes, I think people are just hoping that we can make the changes that are very very obvious. If they benched Moxey and Bryant, I think that would go a long way.

When a single player is getting 100+ yards passing on his head every week, someone who can make a play or at least staunch the bleeding would be a very big move. What really turned around the 2019 season from being another meh 2nd-3rd place finish in the West to a team that could actually win the big games? Gaitor, Hecht, Rios out. Maston, Taylor, Mike Jones in. In September/October...Taylor started 4 regular season games, Maston 2, Mike Jones 1. But they dominated all 3 playoff games. We had a D that made plays at all 3 levels.

Why do you always believe depth charts directly correlate to talent ? The purpose of a practice roster is to have a developmental system in effect, which means that while these players may be equally or more talented to the veterans ahead of them on the depth chart, it would be on the backs of those players in combination with the coaching staff to develop to a point that they can be more than just a talented football player. How do they understand the system? How do they acclimate to professional football? How do they build habits? How do they compete? I don't really understand the point you're trying to make ... these players aren't finished products, they never are. We don't expect a quarterback to come in and be game ready as a pro, you've said as much yourself with Elgersma but it seems like you ignore that concept for every other position and I'm not really sure why. So what Booch is saying is if you're not going to give those guys an opportunity to prove they understand the system, prove they've acclimated to pro ball, prove they've built pro habits and prove they can compete then why do you still have them here? It'd be one thing if the players they're behind the DC are are performing, which is why we're not talking about replacing Willie or Lawson or Major or Griffin or Pokey or Brady or Broxton ... but we've got lots of underperformers and we've got players who have been here since May learning pro ball. If we believed in their talent enough to sign them to contracts, maybe it's time to put them on the field and see if our initial assessment was correct.

Here's the main thing I've learned about defense in my lifetime with football. Great defenses take the ball away. They make plays that score points, put pressure on opposing offenses and support their offense to score points If you're running a defense fixated on not giving up points, you lose. Any big plays against you are even more magnified. That's where we have been since Younger has taken over. You can't win like this. Like the Montreal Grey Cup. D didn't play bad, but couldn't make the plays to win the game. It's not in their nature. It's being coached out of them.

You can't make dramatic, full scale changes at this time but there are some options... on D I'd bring in Texada or keep on Jackson (whoever they like better at corner) and bench Moxey... or you could play Smith full time and rotate in Shay and play Texada at corner and Jackson at S... either way I would like to see Moxey off... on O, you might as well try Vibert at C and start Singer at the 4/5 WR spot... OL has been average or worse, which is unacceptable when you're starting 3 Americans. I wish I could disagree with you... but I fully expect the same
  25. 2 points
The Bombers decided to bring in the highest salaried import OL and IMO are built to roll with 4 import OL really. That is the plan. They have no Canadian depth. Eli can get them out of games, but any injury more than 1 week to a Canadian OL, they are ready to flip to 4 imports. What doesn't make sense at all is how we use Canadians on D but handicap the offense. We always have 3 Canadians on the field on D, and often have 4. But are locked in to 6 Canadians on O when we really only would need to "start" 5. We use all our DA's on D/special teams as well. Our O is handicapped significantly, particularly the receiving corps.

Yeah I get that about Vaval and who knows about Texada, but that's an area that wouldn't necessarily hinder the team if the play isn't better than Moxey. But sitting a vet for poor play would send a message to the team and if Texada plays well, then it's a win win.

Use SMITH fulltime...rotate in Shay...sit down or relegate to backup one of Wilson and Jones....see how that plays out...this idea we have nobody to try is horsecrap...we choose to keep trying to jam square pegs in round holes so to speak...aka...a brain dead HC EXACTLY!! as i said above...and also the PR...a smart team...and its intended use is to actually have it evolving and be fluid thru the yr...scouting and bringing guys in should never end...we add the guys who break camp..on roster...and PR...and thats that...no wonder our depth and lack of any backups suck ass...wort in league how you know they less talented...you seen them play any games in the starting lineup over any extended time? Like I mentioned before..we cut Holm...not good enough...Vet got hurt we brought him back and had to play him...performed well and all of sudden was all praises from Osh etc....That panned out well..The Jenkins/reese situ this yr...these are just a few instances...and who knows who we cut over vets or tenured plugs the last 3..4 yrs would not have been better...likely many were Osh doesnt like to admit failure...so will stick with his picks and random garbage...not a good trait in a HC

Has Tommy heard of a stalk block? Wide receivers are historically bad blockers. because they're in space & angles are constantly changing just getting in the way is just what they do. Name me one wideout who made a million dollars leading the league putting linebackers & DB's on their ass downfield. They'll throw the odd great block if they're in a position to do that. I know Bailey, Adams & Woli were the exceptions. But that was a special group.

only one of your guys came in due to injury or non-performance of the guy ahead of them. Wilson won his job out of camp and TJ was brought in specifically for, and was already playing, before the injury to Biggie. One guy over the past 4 years. I can name probably dozens of injury replacements that came in and failed. I'll get back to you once I compile my list. I know who I'm thinking of but names escape me sometimes. Here is a list of guys who started in place of players that were underperforming or injured and flamed out. We have may 2-3 guys on our roster that played there way up the depth chart. Here is a list since 2022 of guys that got the opportunity and sucked. Keion Adams, Carlton Adugosi, Des Lawrence, LB Mack, Greg McRae, Cedric Wilcotts, Ravi Alston, Miles Fox, Tyjuan Garbutt, Celestin Haba, Drew Richmond, Devin Adams, Marquis Bridges, Ali Fayad, Owen Hubert, Jeremy Murphy, Kody Case, Cam Echols, Jonathan Jones So out of maybe 2 guys that worked out there are 20 that won't. That's a 10% success rate. That's not good enough.

Holm did not begin starting 2-3 years ago. Tony Jones was platooning with Bighill before the injury, and WIlson won the starting job right out of camp. Not a single one of your examples is accurate. Live in the present times man. Since RIgmaiden has gone our cupboards our bare and Walters needs to find a way to get more talent. You keep reaching back 4-5 years ago, and I agree we had good depth back then, to make your point. My point is that we never stocked those cupboards back up again and what used to work is no longer working on a talent acquisition level.

Has it really though? Injuries are how we wound up with Holm starting, injuries are how we wound up with Tony Jones starting. It's how we wound up with Pokey Wilson starting.... It's only ever injuries that allow guys to get a chance around here. Look this isn't some new issue, it's been ongoing and persistent with O'Shea his whole time. Poor roster building and usage. We trotted out Sam Hurl for how long just because... You really think that was because he was the best option? How many guys got on the active roster in the past who stood on the sidelines and took 0 snaps in any facet... Used to happen a ton before younger just threw everyone out at some point. If guys are not performing you don't leave them in forever. Even sitting them down for a half or a game can improve things. And if the depth goes in and fails then you know they're actually not worth keeping around and you should go get better depth. I mean osh says all the time guys are here because they think they're good enough and they're all starters... So why the hesitation to try something new?

The coach should never need to tell the GM he needs to bring in more talent. That's ass backwards. Fans always covet the guys behind the starters on the DC a heck of a lot more than anyone should. Our guys behind our starters, are not starters for a reason. You may not like that but it's reality. Over the last 4 years can you even name one player who came off the bench and stole a job on our team? Now you want it done multiple times? I get everyone's frustration but the only areas where we have some depth also have good starters playing well. Change for the sake of change never works. I never called anyone idiotic first of all. I assessed a fellow posters take on things in a nearly identical manner to their assessment of mine. At no point ever have I ever stated that everything OSH does is correct. There are many valid criticisms of his work. However, just like politics people seem to view an opposing opinion as extreme these days. I am not happy with roster composition in regards to not utilizing the Designated National, I think that at times he fills the bottom of the depth chart with questionable choices. I think he gives his coordinators too much carte blanche over their respective lineups. I think, at times, he can be overly loyal to vets with caveat that I don't always think that's a bad thing from a team building perspective. So let's be clear what I don't agree with others on in regards to MOS. I don't agree that any of the above in isolation costs us games. They are not flaws fatale. They don't help, but they don't add up to losses. I believe that our biggest front office problem is Kyle Walters not MOS. We need talent. The reason we lost last week was talent and players not being accountable to each other.
