yup...I hope he has a season of all seasons and then walks away, and some run away games where we can get QB2 whoever that is some legit reps And yeah...the concussion thing is still there...and is cumulative in their affect...I truly believe that Edm game where Brown did the big comeback that he got scrambled and has been a fraction of himself ever since....and got his noodle rocked a couple other times too since...some were very insignificant in how it happed too....cause his on-field awareness and ability to process ever since has been horrible...he's had a few moments of what looked to be the old ZC but that was more a result of everything just going right and clicking moreso than him grabbin the team by the collar and dragging them to the win... He plays panicked way too much now, and more times than not is easily goaded into errors, and just looks confused
  2. If he tries to play he might end up being the top QB in Equatorial Guinea.

Looks like Streveler is calling it a career. Posted a video on TT. Getting injured is not the way the players should go out, but that's the reality of a contact sport. Much respect for everything he's done for the community and the team.

I tend to agree with that....Same with if Walters didnt walk away from Biggie...and now Thomas and Kolo....All 3 would be penciled in as key returnees....That's been his way for 13 yrs...I highly doubt yr 14 he was gonna change yup...Or he can use his legs and ability to move chains that way...But he is incapable of that for most part too...Is it in his head he is worried about injury and self preserving?....or he doesn't have the plums to do it a lot now?....either way it's a hinderance at QB for us. Even the times he does do it...99% of the times it's the most awkward and clumsy looking thing and just a recipe to be shelved for the yr from a big ol smack...That's also not a good thing hanging over your premium paid QB as well...Limited ways to use him due to fear of a season (likely career ender) injury
  5. Their expectations shouldn't be non existent but realistic. Elgersma's chasing a dream that is becoming a shadow. He has a soft landing spot with the Bombers to continue his career. Elgersma has no idea how lucky he is. My son was at the CFL Western Combine in 2015 & standing beside him not 15 feet away was Chris Jones. He never even acknowledged his presence as at that time CFL teams didn't draft Canadian qbs. Never said a word to Tyler. Tyler at the CFL West Combine in Edmonton, March 2015.
  6. I am pretty sure this money is from the team's share of the 50/50's. I think I paid for a couple of the helmets.

Nobody is excusing ZCs brain cramps, but at the same time as a QB you get paid to throw the ball. When you have no help whatsoever the QB can either take the sack or start winging it downfield on a hope and a prayer. ZC chose the latter and it is never the right choice. However, it is a decision born out of lack of talent around him. If he sees an appropriate amount of protection, and much improved receiver play we likely don't see these poor decisions. If we still do then there is a problem. Trying to play a pop warner level offensive scheme can make a lot of QB decisions look real bad. Defences around the league were saying they knew the play just from the formation, when the defence knows the play before the ball is snapped your QB is going to throw a ton of interceptions. On running downs it doesn't matter as much because that is all about execution but in the passing game it's going to be a disaster no matter the execution. When we criticize ZC throwing into triple coverage one has to ask how the defence is able to get 3 guys on the receiver. We see the point and time the ball arrives at the receiver and it looks like triple coverage when in fact the defence is holding their coverage but are ready to what they have pre-snap recognized as the first and 2nd reads for the QB. When a defence knows where the ball is going everything looks like the QB is throwing into coverage but that is not necessarily what he's seeing at the time he delivers.

At any rate if they are signing QBs it's because they are not happy with their depth so even if Elgersma survives the cut, he is likely pushed down the depth chart. This is something I find interesting because both Hiers and Smith (Elgersma's QB competition) are true ham and eggers that are below CFL quality. Hiers got a quick looksie at the end of 2024 by the RIders but never made it to 2025 camp and Smith has not played ball of any significance since a pretty underwhelming college career. If Elgersma has trouble beating these guys out, it should really temper our expectations for him as a CFL future starter.

  10. And how is he supposed to get a work visa, just go ask for one or pick one of the visa tree? Elgersma has to provide documentation, including contracts, in order to qualify and he hasn't had that until now. Even with a contract (as seen by the Dobson situation), it's not a guarantee he'll get one.
  11. Holy smokes…. You’re hilarious. I didn’t say it never happens. Wow.

Agree and it's a tight rope we'll be walking in 26' ....hoping Zack can hold it altogether is tenuous...Reason why we NEED a back-up that can come in and get it done....I've noticed that nobody hardly brings up the 'concussion' issue Zack has....Knocks on the noggin' just don't go away and I hope it never rears it's ugly head BUT just in case it does I hope one of the new qb signings can come in and surprise the hell out of us

IF Elgersma is trying to get a work permit to stick around down south, he could be hooped....One of our other draft pics of recent years ...I believe it was Dobson who was going through that process, and it didn't pan out...Shortly after he was denied the permit he was in camp...Could the same thing play out for Elgersma.....we shall see...I'd like to see the kid in tc frankly....just to get to see for myself what he's got...So far all I'm getting about his talent is inuendo and promise...

I asked Gemini what % of Canadian QB's became starters in the last 20 years in the CFL... 1.98%.

I still harbour a suspicion that if it was up to O'Shea, Hogan would still be the OC. JJ was probably making Hogan look bad.
  16. 1 point
There was some kind of weird things going on between Osh & JJ. I don't think they meshed at all. Too bad as I like him as a qb coach/OC.
  17. Agreed, but his passport does give him some value, although this will drop his stock a lot. This may also smarten him up enough to consider a Bomber offer. Things have changed a bit since then, but there used to have little but contempt by American coaches and GMs for Canadian pivots.
  18. Apparently Elgersma is still trying to get a work visa so that might be why they brought somebody else in. If he's not able to get one before the season starts, they need a 3rd QB.
  19. Gerry Datillio had a 10 year CFL career and was the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian and a CFL East All-Star in 1980.
  20. Idk how they run their camps down the UFL, but a 4th arm for camp would make a lot of sense. It is a shorter, earlier season so I can see not needing 5, but just 3 would be pretty surprising to me. Still, to your point, Elgersma has to be expected to be the 4th man on the chart. 99% of the time, especially in this day and age of the cfl. Yep. Even pro polish. If im looking at a guy who had a so so camp and some good pre season action, vs a guy who sat on a PR for 2 full years im gonna lean towards the guy with 2 years too. Right decision, love that guy, hope he has a brilliant post playing life and maybe coaching career. Or just volume. Especially if you need to push Wrs/Dbs. You need arms to do that.

JJ wasn't in our plans obviously. I don't think his stay here went as envisioned by either side.
  22. 1 point
He has never played 3 down ball either. Playbooks in the CIS and CFL are light years different. The only advantage he has is knowing the size of the field, and being used to the extra attacker. Other than that he will have the same adjustment to a CFL offence as any of the QBs coming from NCAA. His injury was your typical career ender. I thought if anyone could rehab and tough through it was him but the human body has it's limitations I guess. Too bad, great guy.
  23. 1 point
I disagree, Hogan was brutal. He was in way over his head. Why JJ wasn't the OC is beyond me. Typical Osh decision.

Yup. Let’s go ZC. Absolutely no excuses this year.

It was a bunch of issues last year. Collaros' play, which has been slipping for a couple years. Lack of WR/OL talent and play calling/design.
