  3. Vaval has been named a finalist for both STP & ROY. He should win both (imo). Dual selections Nathan Rourke, Trey Vaval highlight CFL Awards finalists - 3DownNation

  5. We can all agree we want to see the Riders lose the WF, preferably in the most humiliating fashion possible.

  6. Back in the Cold Wars days, the CIA had a bunch of deep minds working in a field called "Kremlinology" which was about figuring out the true objectives and dynamics of the Soviet Union. The Soviets, being a secretive bunch, didn't talk a lot about their true feelings or objectives. They would have a message and they would stick to it. And so the Kremlinologists would have to read between the lines and use the tiniest tidbits, such as the arrangements of chairs or portraits in meetings, the positions of the soviet officials on parade, the scheduling and location of meetings, etc, to do their analysis. In the end, they found that most of their analysis wasn't super useful and was just about people looking for confirmation of their existing opinions. Today, I feel like some people are doing Oshology.

  8. amazing what a full training camp and competent coaching will do... Let's hope we can replicate this Cdn QB success in a couple with with Elgersma...

  10. I know our receiving corps is ****, but I still wouldn't play Demski this weekend... He's just gonna make it worse.

  11. on top of his monster passing numbers, Rourke shocked me with his breakaway running. Dude can gallop and he turned a lot of broken plays into first downs or better. Rourke is the MOP. I was questioning the decision to throw away VAJ in favor of Rourke ... but that definitely appears to have been the correct call.

  12. Teams had the same record and BC played in the more difficult division. BLM passed for a whopping 6 more yards and played two more games. Bo had 5 more tds and 5 less ints. Rourke had 564 rushing yards and 10 tds to 124 and 1 for Bo. I'd say Rourke was better. As for narratives that's for reporters not voters.

  15. I'm completely satisfied with BC or Calgary going into Regina and crushing their hopes. That team can then come here to lose to us. It's a win win without infecting our city with Rider fans.

  16. I don't even wanna take the chance of a replay... I'm not mentally strong enough to handle that. The sooner they're gone, the sooner they're NOT playing in our barn at all... No chance of them winning here. Good riddance to bad rubbish and all that...

  19. Vaval has four touchdowns and 11 returns of more than 30 yards and is tied for second in punt return average (12.8, behind Wooten's 15.0) ... the CFL does not track individual fumble stats but I'm pretty sure that Vaval nets out to a positive ...

  20. I disagree with this take completely...but it also doesn't change the fact that he has been the best return man all year and I believe he already has as many returns TDs as Letcher has in his career.
    2 points
  21. For the most part, the article isn't wrong but when it is, it's way wrong. He has ST as a toss up but says "If James Letcher Jr. is in the lineup, his one play game-breaking ability is king and Montreal gets the nod", which is absolutely insane. Letcher had zero return touchdowns of any kind this season (and just 1 TD last year) while Vaval has four. But yeah Ferguson, you go on about a crazy game breaking ability that doesn't seem to exist and completely ignore the guy who should (imo) win ST player of the year. Not saying Letcher is a bad returner but Vaval was clearly the best this year so that should be a slam dunk category for us.

  22. man, If demski is that close, even if he goes what level of play is he gonna be able to bring? Don’t like that. No Demski and if we stay married to the old guys on the dl, that’s soo hard to over come.

  23. An interesting factor for the roster this weekend is the field might be an absolute mess. They've had a rainfall warning in Montreal most of the week with 15-20mm rain projected each day through tomorrow. Saturday is supposed to be back to just Cloudy, but after heavy rains all week, what's the field going to be like? And what will that mean for Run vs Pass... ?

  24. I’m pretty confident we’ll play two Canadian recs. I’ve seen nothing from this season to make me think we’ll get away from that. I’d like to see Bailey take some reps from Lawson & Thomas. Move Vaughters inside occasionally and play three des.

  26. If we were smart and Demski cant go...and I said already I'd be shocked if he was healthy enough (but when has that stopped Osh before neutering our roster) the smart move is to go with 4 import receivers....and I'd roll with Echols as he is experienced....is also a returner so if Vaval gets hurt...or has to go in on defense because lord help us someone else gets hurt h gives us some coverage there....Being rigid and lacking any sense in retaining the ratio as is with 6 Cdn on offence and 1 on defense is just more of the standard effing ourselves once again in playoffs with roster issues and use of assets We be just fine on defence having to have 2 on the field any given time as we do that anyway....Lawson...Kramdi...Smith who showed he can play...Bailey who showed the same...heck lets utilize the Nationalized Amerk rule and use those snaps to further help ourselves and limit how many times we have to watch Thomas out there doing squat....But sadly I am sure we will run out Corcorran and Cobb combo (hopefully just Cobb) if we go that route cause that's just the Oshea way....brain dead thought process.....and does nothing to help ZC with the offense...and lord knows he gonna need all the extra lil help and tweaks we can give him All that being said...I fully expect to see Demski out there...limited in what he can do...be a non-factor and just make things even harder for ZC.....And truthfully...why wouldn't I or anyone else expect otherwise?....the past 3 seasons are pretty good indicator to what we can expect....until proven wrong.

  30. rourke had 2 games under 280 yards passing, and 12 games 300+, with 2 over 280. Only 2 games with more picks than tds, he threw for a td in all but 1 game. 2 400+ games 2 4 td games, plus 5 total tds in week 16. Harris had 6 games over 300, 2 3 td games, 2 no td games, 2 more ints than TDS games, and 6 real games with less than 280 passing. vaj had 4 games 300+, 4 3 td games, 7 no passing td games, 4 more ints than td games, and 11 games with less than 280. I think you can make a very good case that vaj was the mvp, as a lot of calgarys turn around was him. But bc had an atrocious D for a big chunk of the year and rourke carried them. If rourke was in calgary, I think they finish first. For my money, ssk had far more to work with for harris. Better line, deeper wr core, much better team and position to be put in on each drive. Rourke was the lions this year. If you swapped harris or vaj to bc, I think we are playing a home game in the play offs. Imo, Rourke is a slam dunk as moc and mop in any reasonable world. In the cfl, riders bias vs kid canada bias, I have no clue what to expect. you nailed it with how much of a difference maker rourkes legs are this year. I think he’s the better qb with out the yards or rushing tds, but his mobility is a big part of what enabled him to succeed. Just like prime zach with buck and bourgoin, the roll out is deadly. I think elgersma is our only medium to long term shot at contending short of finding a crazy winning power ball ticket type of player.

  31. MOC for sure. I think narrative wise he might be a bit behind Bo. Bo had marginally better stats, took better care of the ball, a bit better team success. Was the finalist last year trying to drag a terrible team to the playoffs.

Not exactly a FB rumour though - it was Barry Windham, the guys brother in law, who announced he went into hospice. Rotunda's daughter clarified it, saying it was an honest mistake.

  40. Vaval has has a lot of upside....AND for a rook who has eclipsed a lot of other returners in 25' is certainly going to be in our line-up for quite awhile....He does have a tendency to try for extra yardage, that results in a few give-aways....something I'm sure he will correct as his experience grows....Who knows he eventually might get us to forget Janarion..........

  41. people love to over rate tackles especially at lber. and/or is willing/planning to throw his coach under the bus in case of crash. I don’t think walters will do that, I think he will take the bullet for mos. correlation is not causation. Tackles are not a success indicator at lber or db. jones barely has any tfl, he’s not making stops at a depth where he/we are winning the snap. Most of his tackles are 5 yards and further down field. If he didn’t make those stops, some one else would’ve for comparable outcomes. He wasn’t running around like ray lewis making massive stops and stuffs.

  42. So how I'm reading this is for the love of Gawd we need our BB's back in the show for the 6th straight time please and thank you. 🙂

  43. My take is we (Walters/Miller) allowed Osh to have too much say and input in to what we felt was needed an who we wanted to keep (that should not have) and has got us to where we are. That needs to change going forward if either or both are to stay, and the G.M has to not be the HC buddy...but his Boss and he and his team will bring in the best players they can scrounge up, as well determine who will/and will not be back and the HC works within those parameters....like a typical organization does...

  44. well past success aside...recent issues ongoing...we need change now anyway, all things come to an end so hopefully both are not back ....we be just fine

  45. That's revisionist. By your own standard they were not. Not only not winning championships but also not having an above .500 season. Things eventually changed obviously. But his teams werent always successful.
