  1. One area where we have to give credit where credit is due: the Bombers management has consistently fielded a strong starting secondary.

  2. my biggest concern isn’t that the rules are all bad ideas, but instead I’m left asking what is the perceived problem they are trying to fix, and have all the potential outcomes been considered? 100% all of that.

  3. Damn straight. Really good article on the rule change. https://3downnation.com/2025/10/08/duke-ellingson-incoming-cfl-rule-changes-questionable-at-best/

  4. No one is asking for all out blitzes, but the defense isn't successful because they put Jake Thomas out there for 80% of the snaps at DT or DE. Put better players on the line and you can maintain the same defensive system while also having guys who can breakdown an offensive line without having to sell out for pressure. Is what they're doing working? Overall yes, but when you give qbs all kinds of time eventually they are going to find some plays.

  5. We don't know anything of the context... And a guy like Neufeld, whose number one issue is staying healthy and ready to go for the long haul of playoffs.... Who ******* cares about one day of practice?

  6. THIS! Just come clean. Enough with the clearly bullshit explanations of more scoring/excitement etc. I don't like the changes, and I hate when someone is serving me a plate of bullshit but they're saying it's steak. I didn't believe it until the clock got under 1:20.

  7. I'll always love JJ and Willie for showing the entire league on the biggest stage how much of a joke the MOOL was that year. Stanley got robbed.

  8. Halls' play-off adjustments to the DL were a massive game-changer, ba coming in at S was massive once the secondary settled as well. We had played soo soft before that people were losing their minds. 100%, the game was won in the trenches, and with physicality. Drake Nevis has become maybe the most slept on guy from that 19 win. Early, when he and Stove played together, it was a mauling. Then we switched to more and more cheetah with WJ, JJ, Hansen, and Kongbo and the cats couldn't keep up. Even the 30 cheetah we ran with wj on the nose, flanked by JJ and kongbo was vicious. It's a shame Craig Roh didn't get to dress for that game. He is another slept-on guy who is likely responsible for more of our DL success in that era than most would ever know. He was one of the best minds when it came to DL technique, pass rushing moves, and front play we've seen up here. His camps and books were extraordinary in their quality, he would've been one of the best DL coaches in the era. F%%^ cancer.

  9. Yeah the Cats were favored by everyone and anyone.....but 1 game anything can happen Our dline went off like mofo's and controlled that game, and the Cat's had no answer....and the oline as well just had their way and we controlled that as well....we had top end guys in their prime, hungry, and un-injured...and the foot soldiers had use outside of ST...so we had depth.......and well we won.....and thats why we need to get back to that set-up to reclaim our top spot standing....not a hard concept to recycle and reload your roster on the fly and to know/see when you need to move on....long standing tenure here be damned....cause that ideology isn't a wining formula

  10. I 100% agree with Goalie here -> our defense is not built around sacks - HOWEVER - the DL should be able to get more pressure than they are.
    3 points
  11. So imagine if we could get pressure how good the D would be.

  12. And they weren't really the favourites if you paid attention to how the Bombers had been playing. That just made it all the more entertaining. Hearing the chosen narrative and thinking "yes but."

  13. the week after a bye, in the end of the season with us in the cross over spot. No one should be getting vet card days. It’s not like practice is insanely physically demanding in this era either.

  14. This is just not true. Sure, a player or coach isn’t going to blab to some random fan asking a bunch of questions, but having known front office people and a few players throughout the years, they absolutely do give insight into their team. There has to be trust involved, but it definitely happens.

  15. I am not referring as much to the regular season, as I am to the semi-final in Calgary. After that game, you could see that the Big Blue had a solid chance. Calgary players, BLM included, straight out said it. My reference is mostly to the media / talking heads being unable or unwilling to see it, after that game.

  16. The reasoning for removing 10 yards from the field is dumb as well. Just come out and say the medium-term plan for the league is expanding into other markets, and the current footprint of the field is going to be an issue in moving into markets with existing infrastructure.

  17. There is not a single person on this forum that can truthfully say they have any insight on the inner dynamics of the Blue Bombers dressing room. Not one member. There may be guys on this forum that occasionally might hear this and that but the source would have to be a disgruntled and unprofessional player, and therefore not a true representation of the locker room at all. No player with even an ounce of professionalism or commitment to the team would comment anything to anybody outside the confines of the locker room. PERIOD. Every single team in the CFL and even NFL uses vet cards but we do it and somehow our HC should be fired. What a nothing burger.

  20. Not every one that’s for sure. It’s important to have enough competitive balance that any team can turn it around and not be perpetually bad as hopeless, like several nba franchises. But what’s best is variety mixed with great stories. You want to have turn arounds and upstarts like the blue jays, but you also want to have them come up against the likes of the evil empire nyy. That, is compelling and entertaining to every one, even when it’s one sided. In 19 the cats were run away favorites, but we shocked them and the cfl to end a huge drought ushering forth an extraordinary stretch of success. Even the staunchest bomber haters say that was great viewing. You don’t get that with total parity. You need balance, but being too middle of the road is not good.

  21. think demski as well. Looks like a good few of em. Going to be a big adjustment for this team. no meaningless games to end the season, no bye week, decent chance of no home play off game. Going to have to peak and keep it up. Pedal to the metal time.

  22. yep, we had struggles early last year and plenty in the past. We do fit guys to our system well, eventually. lmao i’m in

  23. Our secondary has struggled this year and only recently showed well. Could we pool our money and hire Tonya Harding?

  25. I remember not having any fear of that GC game. I walked into the stadium more confident than I had in awhile, for sure. We were on a mission... A team of destiny that year.

  26. I don't understand how they still stay in business these days? The location near my house has depleted the donut/muffin/bagel selection down to the absolute bare minimum. Apparently double chocolate donuts are to niche these days for them to stock? The last time I went they said they stopped serving wedges and other food items after 5 pm. Now no soups and chili? What is on the menu these days outside of plain donuts, plain bagel, a few sandwiches and flat bread pizza which completely doesn't make sense? What a massive fall of grace from only 20 years ago.

  27. Maybe earlier in the season, but O'Shea has always operated that if you're a vet you've paid your dues and earned some benefits. With a guy like Neufeld no one on the team will doubt his commitment to the team. Every one on the oline plays through a lot even if it's on one leg.

  28. You're right but aren't vets suppose to lead the way i.e., first guy out there last guy to leave?

  29. Yup in summary let's move from good to great.

  30. As it is, hardly anyone cares about the CFL outside of the prairies. BC can't get people to stay and watch a lions game free after a big time concert.

  31. Oh easy. If you took off jake, and kornys snaps and put in the worst imp DTs we've had the last 2 years you would have significantly better front play, pressure, sacks, hits disruption etc. In the CFL, you don't need to have the highest sack total. But you NEED to cause disruption at least. You don't even need pressures and hits. If you can push the inside of the pocket back onto the lap of the QB within 3-4 seconds consistently, you force the qb to go from about to toss it to having to look down, avoid the disruption, find another spot, reset, look back down field, and try to find a target. OR, they have to try and throw over a mass of humanity (when cfl qbs are pretty short in general) and risk their arm on the follow through. Which still messes with mechanics a lot. In the past, teams that ran 30 fronts understood this. They focused their down linemen on guys who could win a bull rush 1-on-1, or could shoot a gap with a swim move and loop into the pocket. People here would always be stunned when the bend but don't break argos managed to sack our qbs repeatedly in a game. And while it is not the fastest way to rush/pressure/sack, it is one of the hardest to defend and prevent disruption from in the CFL. Because every team is rolling 2-3 NI interior OL (most always 3, you usually see 2 on bad teams), the Canadian OL are much less adept at dealing with nose tackles, pass rushing 3ts, and 4ts. Those guys, often imports, are generally in the 275-300 lbs range but insanely powerful and surprisingly athletic. With diverse rush ability, and the ability to run tite fronts, twist etc that makes the assignment harder to plan for. Sure, if you get the double on the 4t with the tackle, it should be pretty easy. But the other side of that you have a 1on1, or you have a 1on1 with the nose. And the C, is most often filled by guys undersized and who aren't higher end picks. How many Cs in the cfl today could lock up a prime stove 1on1 for most of the game? None imo. For the level of pressure/disruption we get from our OL, we would be as well off taking thomas out and playing 1 less dl in general.

  32. They were favorites; the bombers had a whole lot going for them, but Zach wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire yet. The cat's D was better most of the year, their teams were better, and their offence was better virtually the entire year. We all knew when zach made the crazy legs play to adams we had a shot, but at no point in time where the bombers the favorite to win vs hamilton.

  33. If you need an extra day after a bye week to stay healthy, you aren't going to stay healthy anyway. his main issue isn't fighting off injuries; it's how much he's degraded in terms of level of play when injuries have and may have been involved that he played through. Rest day isn't going to change that. And this, as I mentioned as well. Practice these days is soft AF. He could've shown up in slippers and a housecoat without an issue. It's not any big issue of it self, but it is a big old red flag indicating the over all problem. At this point, they should be kicking it into high gear. Instead, we are trialing guys for next year's camp, handing out vet days, and doing the minimum. Edmonton is going to play hungry. They need to win to stay alive in the playoffs. They just surprised the riders and are a better team than their record indicates. If we don't match or exceed their energy/physicality/execution early in this game, it's going to be tough to win.

  34. Put Doug brown and a healthy prime stove at DT and I bet we have more sacks. It’s the talent or lack there of. None of our DTs are elite. They are all just ok really. None are brown or stove for that matter. 1 prob makes a difference. Ffs Jake Thomas is a starter.

  35. That maybe the case for BC but it doesn't apply to every team. The Riders have allowed the fewest points and has the 2nd most sacks (almost double our total - 38 vs 20) so you can get after the QB and still be successful at not giving up points. The stats don't lie and it's worked for us as we're tied for 2nd in points allowed but it's a very different system JY has installed and not one that I enjoy watching (frustrating as hell seeing opposing QB's have all day in the pocket) and I know others feel the same - Doug Brown has stated he would hate playing in this system as there seems to no regard for pressuring the QB.

  37. I say the UFL & CFL won't merge unless they can come to some kind of a magical agreement. There's no agreement to do so.

  38. Again, your opinion which is marginalized.

  39. But our D has allowed 70 less points in the same number of games. Sacks and pressure is nice but doesn’t lead to points not being scored against.

  40. As a CFL fan I'd have zero interest in watching the Grey Cup champion vs some American UFL team. Nobody would care. The CFL could do American expansion like back in the day. The only benefit would be once the American teams fold , the stores would have rock bottom low prices on Winter jackets. I fondly remember seeing lots of cheap people wearing Gold Miners jackets around town.

  41. Depth? Yes…. Scoring depth? Not so sure. We’re going to need it because we can’t rely on the top line to do everything. Hopefully Perfetti isn’t out too long and the other line combos can build chemistry quickly.

  44. I have no faith in our Coaching to prepare this team to win 2 road games in West to get to cup....If we sneak into 2nd....we may catch lightening I think tho this yr the West team that crosses over will be a first time Grey Cup participant, and seeing we in 4th currently and the Edm game is no gimme at all we could be that cross over team. We have shown zero consistency all yr, and have generally had our butthanded to us the majority of the season in the second half against the good teams (winning records) so although I like what I saw last game....was it an aberration, or do they come out of the bye and expand on that?....that will be the indicator if we are an actual Cup contender and until i see it 2..3 games in a row coming up have my doubts....hope I wrong but to think otherwise is foolish And I am sure based on past seasons Osh will make a couple extremely dumb decisions re the roster, or what is occurring in the game and will cook our goose...so there is also that X factor My opinion....closing out and into the playoffs...we gonna need everything to go perfect, and have a few opponents along the journey pulla cpuple their own Osh's and help us out That being said I will gladly eat crow and Osh does a glorious job....but I'm not getting out my fork and knife just yet Already said Riley...Richard Harris too....always wanted him to be HC here....true player coach and guy who could relate to anyone....he would have been a great one
