"Innovative young coach" is exactly the description of Mike O'Shea when we brought him here, and back then there was a whole lot of "tired of bringing in rookies with no experience in top positions" w

  • I'll say one thing - I'd rather have Lapo than be searching for guys like BC and Edmonton are now stuck doing.

  • Sure we need better OL play, a complementary RB, and more size/speed at receiver.   But our O was really poorly designed from the get-go:   Every run play a form of stretch play, with the RB coming

The easy and lazy hire.. Not very thrilled.

Hope he has learned to throw longer then 3 yards on 2nd and long.

In fairness to LaPo he had some good ideas and schemes here as a head coach too. Got stuck with weak personnel. With Willy he at least is working with a full deck of cards.

Third time the Bombers have hired him. That's gotta be some kind of record.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it....

I'd like to know, right now, what Willy is thinking, not what he's expected to say..but what he's really thinking.

****edit

Well here's one half of the equation..

Really looking forward to working with Coach LaPolice next season!#believeinblue

The Bombers wont have to pay moving expenses. Save the nickels and the dollars look after themselves.

about the only thing worse then a plop offence is MBs offence.

Term on the Paul LaPolice contract with @Wpg_BlueBombers OC gig is two years

Well look at that.

:P While I'm not doing cartwheels over the choice.  Who else was really available?   Maas was already out of the running as the RB's denied access.   Khari Jones didn't necessarily succeed during his time as OC.    Sure we could have gone after a complete newbie but isn't that what many of you have lambasted the team for doing in the past.

So I guess I have to accept it and hope that 3rd times the charm.  :P  :P :P  :P  :P

A lot of ABMB (Anyone but MB). 2 year contract? Is that longer than O'Shea or has he been extended?

I'm gonna root for him because I like the guy, but man...you don't get back together with your ex...never mind twice. There's a reason you broke up in the first place.

True and in my opinion this is starting to be an issue for the league. I believe it was Madani who tweeted something along those lines either yesterday or earlier today that there is a lack of blue chip coaching prospects out there at the moment league wide. One could make the argument that in some regards the team didn't have a lot to choose from, but at the same time it doesn't make me feel any better about this hire as we've seen the end of this movie twice already...

A lot of shouldn't have been fired in the first place.

He was the OC of the best offence this team has had in its entire 80+ history

he was also the oc the next year of a team with the exact same talent and mid to bottom half production.

Two unforeseen unexpected but totally awesome announcements all within the past hour. Bombers announce that Paul La Po is back and McDonalds announces the McRib is back.

Lapo may not be the best OC in the league but he is one of the best at putting an offense together with marginal talent, especially marginal o-line talent, there will be some improvement.

Everyone's shitting on him. It was different coaches, players and team when he was last here. We really didn't have much to pick from in terms of ocs, maybe 3rd times a charm. Embrace the guy and give him a chance again.

Some posters actually doubted that this hire wouldn't be based on a HC succession plan, lol.

I have no confidence that Lapo can put together a quality offense without Milt Stegall, Charles Roberts, Mike Sellers, Arland Bruce, etc.....

And yet he had the second highest scoring offence in the CFL while in Saskatchewan .. also helped Durant to a Western all star nod in his rookie year.

Not endorsing the hire, just refuting a point.

O'Shea has not been extended yet and has one year left. Kind of an awkward situation, really.

Don't like it at all. Despite the struggles I was at 4 Bomber road games this year. I was planning at least 3 next year. That plan is now at 0. This just feels like they aren't trying, and if they aren't trying, I'm not spending money. With that said, I hope I'm wrong and we have a legitimate offense next year, but I'm not expecting it.

For people being negative out this... there's not much choice out there for OC really.

Also had Ken Miller involved in his decision-making, one of the more aggressive offensive coaches of the era.

Lapolice is a genius.  I don't think his decision-making is ever aggressive enough to make him a great play caller.

So who do you think they should hire?
