Other than Jeffcoat, I don't believe we've found an DE worth a darn in KW's tenure. Jefferson, Westerman and Vaughters are free agent signings. DT on the other hand, Stove, Bradin Bryant, Poop Johnson, Casey Sayles, we've done all right.

Kongbo was very good, but not fast twitchy pass rusher. But you’re right.

Yeah, it’s sad the position we maybe recruit the best, dt, is one we cling to the worst crutch of a passport at.

Hansen was developed here and while nobody's calling him a Willie In His Prime clone, it was pretty incredible how they drafted and developed him into what he became...

Some guy that's a very good pass rusher, disruptive is a noticeable player even if they make him play safety.

Garbutt is like a 68 OVR player if there was CFL Madden.

Don't need to be told something I had plenty of opportunity to see and believe.  And he's continued to be a plug in Hamilton.

Jackson Jeffcoat?

No...that was the problem.

100%. He and Kongbo very similar contributions to the D. And both made it extremely easy to rotate them in while adding a dime etc.

we had soo much utility and flexibility with the D during the ships. Dl guys on the bench who could rotate, pressure inside out, allowing wj to do what he likes vs single blocker even dropping back (remember that lol) biggie gave us massive support in pass cover and excellent gap cancelling, kyrie also brought insane range and dependability. Ba was soo damn good at keeping guys on the same page doing the right thing while terrorizing RBs and WRs. Stove and drake gave us the ability to close 2 gaps with 1 guy.

Now we have virtually none of that flexibility or basic ability to execute consistently at a high level.

Trailblazer for sure.  One of the few early guys they attracted in the first couple waves who was a good football player.  Too bad he was like 28 when he got here.

it seems like Strev is having trouble making plays while moving laterally ... he really slows down when he's rolling out with his eyes downfield, and is an easy kill for pursuit.  I guess the point is that the play action freezes the pursuit and gives him the extra time he needs?

Sounds like overthinking.

I'll be honest, I think you're selling some of those guys short. Not like going to jeffcoat and Willie in their prime,  but they're decent players who can do more than we're getting now. I'm even fine with Vaughters and what he's doing, it's the other end and middle that I have big problems with.

Are there people really clamouring for replacement level players like Fox and Garbutt??

Vaughters and Adams aren't massive improvements... I want better players than what we have now... not slightly worse

They should be cycling through potential replacements but instead they're standing pat.

It's not players on the AR or PR either.  Looking at the Bluesky account that tracks neg list moves, we are way more passive than most if not all other teams. Other teams are constantly adding/removing players but we seem to be content with what we have for the most part.

Try the guys in house,  try new blood, try scrap heaping other teams cuts. But do something rather than going "well maybe this week the old guys will have it"

There is nobody to replace a Jake Thomas or bridges. Have you looked at our PR? Woodbey is a linebacker. Allen plays safety. Ball is a DB who got on. But that’s it. There’s no DT on the PR. There’s an End in the global guy but no DT of any kind. Jon jones is on the “1 game” but they could insert him for Tony but honestly there’s bigger issues on D than Tony. And the depth isn’t there.

Are we sure Can Allen can't play corner??? Seems strange

Allen isnt soley a safety...so yeah he can play elsewhere

Woodbey could play any linebacker spot really....sam or safety

Thomas can be replaced by Cobb..Bailey...Vibert...Scmeck even

Regardless, Parker a better corner than he is safety so use guys where they fit best. That includes things like NOT putting linebackers at DE on the depth chart.

He a better SAM too than who we employ..

Yeah but then how are we gonna have double digit LBs on the roster? Thats a league rule (is probably something MOS says).

Garbutt is a shitty American player in this league.  He has 4 sacks in 20 games.  Very minimal impact.  Same production here and in Hamilton.  Unless everyone is so scared of him they avoid his side of the field.  Fox too.  14 games in 4 seasons, a tackle a game and 1 career sack.

Those guys are the definition of placeholders.

Any team should be embarrassed to be featuring those guys at this point of their career.  Those are the kinds of guys in the kinds of positions that should be moved out if they make no impact.  And I'm not saying the Bombers are any better.  Like Adams to me is a guy I'm trying to replace every week.  The position is among the easiest in the game.  Win your gap, be disruptive.  If we can watch 6 games and not be sure you even dressed when you're playing 30+ snaps a game, see ya.

Exactly right. If someone wants to criticize moves made where we lost real impact players like Stove, or Lawler I can't argue but grousing about how Garbutt and Fox moved on because they were treated unfairly is a real head shaker to me.

We haven't brought in anyone worth a snot since Stove and Casey. The interior of our DL is a giant mess because we haven't recruited a lick of talent there in 4 years.

Exactly right. We can criticize our NAT guys, but we sure don't have the IMPs to make a noticeable difference if we were to change that up. Our DL is a mess and it doesn't predicate at all on how many reps Jake Thomas is getting. That is a symptom of the problem not the cause.

Vaughters has underperformed his contract as well. RIght now we are not getting reliable play from anyone on our DL and a good portion of our secondary.

Exactly. The problem isn't that we are sitting massively talented players and refusing to play them. The problem is we lack talent across the board on the DL.

Good news! Parker hasn't looked as good at safety as he did previously at corner so bridges out, Parker to corner and Allen at safety.

Changes aren't as hard as you want to pretend they are. Just use your roster to it's maximum potential.

Two roster moves to fix one is not using your roster to its maximum potential.

Winner winner chicken dinner. The problem lies with us settling on mediocrity for far too long.

we dont lnow if we have...as nobody really got a shot....so you cant know really.....if any guys brought in and cut were actually worse than what we kept.....yikes

Snd looking at our current roster...who is tops in the league in their position...BO obviously...Nichols perhaps....after that.....nobody I can see

Every player starts as an unknown...no experience....no history...we rarely allow that to occur but stand pat with players who we had success with in the past...which doesnt necessarily mean they gonna continue at that

I agree with some of that. Our guys in house are not going to fix anything. Adams has had more reps than JT and done absolutely zero with them. Scrap heaping and air lifting isn't my favorite way to build a team because it shows your offseason was a bust, but a GM needs to do this once in a while when it is apparent that it needs to happen. So far bupkus.

Garbutt, Fox, and now Adams had ample time to show their worth. They failed to do so. Are there some guys we ripen on the vine too long....maybe, but that is not the problem with our DL right now. Guys need to grab the job away through their play and we haven't seen that at any position for a couple of years now. Losing jobs through injury? No one has made a case for that.

I expect that Person will get more reps as well. As a rookie he played himself into the lineup quite quickly I think. If you are suggesting that we didn't move him in quick enough as a rookie I disagree.

actually Admas has had less snaps to date...so not sure where u get your info from...and has more "stats" tho that not the tell tale sign....he has been visibly more impactful tho...and allows others to get free...Thomas does not...nor does Korn

Adams has been below average at best and the stats are accurate. He is averaging just short of 30 snaps a game.
