Week 11 - Blue Bombers (7-2) @ stumps(3-6) - GDT

CFL-2022-July-15-Winnipeg-Blue-Bombers-v

And the skinny from our man Tait:

Scene setter:

The Blue Bombers (7-2) and Stampeders (3-6) reached the midway point of the season last week moving in opposite directions. Winnipeg is on a three-game heater since the shocking collapse in Ottawa, including last week’s 38-29 win in Edmonton in which Dru Brown came off the bench to throw for 300 yards and four TDs – erasing a 22-0 deficit in the process. The Stamps, meanwhile, have lost three of their last four, including last week’s 37-9 mauling by the B.C. Lions.

The big news heading into this one is Brown getting the start for Zach Collaros, who did not practice all week.

The Basics

  • That's unnecessary roughness, but a guy jumping on the QB's head is no penalty.

McCrae.  What a ******* mess.  That guy could cost you a close game as a returner.

It's funny you say that. Cause it could be argued that his return literally won this close game

Brown couldn't hit receivers ..he not ready for primetime...and I still stand by my opinion he isn't QB of future here

Won this battle by not turning it over.  Tough game with wind.  Probably 4th best QB in the league already depending on what people think of VAJ.

O needs a plan for when the vertical stuff is not there due to weather.

Could have easily lost it pinning us inside the 10.  No reason to let that ball hit the turf.

I mean 17 of 27 for 171 plus 123 rushing means the o moved the ball. Just couldn't put up 6 tonight but still won. Brown was good with what he was given and is still a young qb. Maier looked worse

Barker with the quote of the day: " You cannot ask the best field goal kicker to win the game"

To quote c and c music factory... things that make you go hmmmm?

Just heard that.  What a tool.

That was an ugly game. Being positive we got the win and have the tie breaker over Calgary now too.

Maier won't even throw the number of TD passes to equal the number of wins they'd need to tie us in the standings by the end of 18 games.

Yeah didn't turn it over.

Think he's making the point they need a QB who can score a touchdown here and there.

I love the change of pace that Mcrea gives us, but we're really missing Grant. And man Prukop was a hot mess tonight. Good sneak at the end of the game.

I'm curious for those who were at the game, how bad was the wind?

The boys in Blue came through.

That was a tense game...

Good to sneak out with a win... I just wish they wouldn't make it so close,  my heart can't take it.

Lol

The deep stuff was somehow working for them, thought it was odd they didn't attack it more

So basically McCrea won us the game!

Houston won it

This game is a real good lesson and one we should have learned the last two West Finals.  When it's harder to go vertical our offense really bogs down.

Gameplan better to deal with this.  It's windy on the prairies in the fall.

Could do that.  But we have no coverage for Oliviera then.  Augustine can't play, I know they think he can.  He's a major liability on ST now and not having him out there on O ever doesn't bode well for him being able to contribute at all.  Just a body I guess if we needed.

In game we be fine with JA ..Demski...sweeps with bailey....

Plus 5 with the wind tho.

Not pretty. Not the best called game either by buck. Very trying not to lose mentality

Bad decisions by HC too...not going for it from 5 early in game...not challenging the Holm penalty...even the Michel catch....losing field position and not even trying someone else... Not telling Buck to just play smash mouth offense...

Don’t we have like 5 other global punters on the practice roster?

That older dude can crush it...Sheehan just way to inconsistent and havnt yet see him boom a punt...but lots of short...and illegal ones tho

Re: Lawler, Roberson & Nick Taylor did a pretty good job covering him tonight. Not an easy task at all.

Calgary is in trouble both on the field and in the stands, I know the weather was bad but they haven't been drawing fans all year

Punt team really cost 9 points tonight.  Call on Holm paved the way for 3 points.

D didn't give up much.

100% d was bordering on lights out. The O played like they had a inexperienced qb at the helm

Friday night wins are funner than Thursday night wins cause I can drink more

Contender for best post of the night.

Sheehan punts the ball like he is playing Aussie Rules, short and low kicks get you killed in the return game
