  • I've got some time, so here's what we've talked about on the CJOB Sports Show (happy to answer any questions for the next little bit): WR has been consistenly Lawler-Schoen-Demski-Bailey-Wolitars

  • Agudosi with a great catch deep for the td.. match up nightmare mare.    Bailey catching everything in his direction. If it were my first time watching the Bombers I'd say he's their best pl

  • Just got back from practice. Got there a little late, left a little early. Thought I'd write up some notes with the obvious disclaimer that I have no idea what I'm talking about. But people are hungry

I wouldn't say that. We knew that the vets would get the roles to start. It's as the season goes on that young guys will need to step in and step up.

Sheahan rostered. Schmitz on PR. Caleb Thomas to PR.

.gotta wonder If anyone turned down a pr spot. Cole to PR also

I don't think they lost trust in him as a punter. As a kicker, yes. They brought in Castillo. And then these globals were that good.

They could have kept him as a punter but I think when trust of coaches are gone, you're all out totally. That's how I've known a number of coaches to be. Just move on.

Did anyone new other than Pigrome make the team? Looks like a real wet fart of a recruiting year.

Pigrome & Haba are the only new non-draft picks on the active roster.

PR has a few more (Matt Cole, Abu Daramy-Swaray, Damien Jackson, Amare Jones, Caleb Thomas).

Didn't like the way Wade played and apparently the coaching staff was also not that impressed.

I’m not sure how you justify it, to be honest. I don’t really love the fact that we brought in like 11 receivers and 3 running backs to camp and our coaching staff essentially said the only guy worth keeping is a gadget returner style guy who came in halfway through camp.

Same thing with the defensive linemen.

Doesn’t really speak well to our scouting that we couldn’t find a linebacker better than Malik Clements for the 14 games this season that we won’t have Kyrie Wilson. We now officially have one American linebacker on our roster who has practiced in training camp.

This feels like a roster where Wally Buono in his prime would have said goodbye to at least 5 vets.

No, it doesn't. And Wally was a cheap bastard.

Lieghhio lost the trust of the coaching staff. They may have seen an improvement in Leggs at TC but... memories are long. They were probably afraid to give him another chance as he could struggle again as a kicker/punter. We all know once that trust is gone it's real hard to earn back. Especially froma  specialist who isn't an every down player.

So much for In The Canadian Mafia We Trust. C'mon so now the sky is falling?

Not at all. But when you look back at teams who've gone through success and eventual drop off, there's going to be signs that seem obvious in hindsight.

One of those things will probably be keeping guys too long and being unable to recruit new talent. We've been a feeder team of prospects who excel with us and move onto the NFL or other teams, but this year, there's aren't any candidates to really do that...

Did any of the players cut make a case for themselves to stay over a vet?  I didn't really think so...

I can't fault them too much for thinking we're going to run this thing back for as long as possible until the wheels fall off.

It almost feels like we recruited with the expectation that none of them would make it. This whole training camp was weird.

It’s tough to say, because in a lot of cases they didn’t even really get a chance to compete. Who the hell competed with Adam Bighill in training camp? Lol

We dominated last year with this roster. 🤷

Not any surprise I would say.

Did Jake Kelly also make the team?

The complete absence of LBs and DEs who can start or even take rotational roles - despite a clear need last year which has only grown - is really disappointing.

I don't recall Wally winning back-to-back grey cups, tying a franchise record for regular season wins and coming 1 point shy of a three-peet... but I have a lousy memory, so I don't know.

I don't agree. Yes, we have some holes on defense on the interior of the DL & linebacker but otherwise we're solid. We roll with 2 Canadian running backs in Oliveira & Augustine. They're not going to switch ratios to an American as that means a Canadian will have to play elsewhere probably on defense in the secondary so Salima is the better back than Augustine but he gets cut & an underperforming & more expensive Augustine makes the roster. That's the down side of having a ratio.

21 minutes ago, Jesse said:

No way.

McCrae was kept because he doubles in that pass catching/receiver role when we need him, but Salima looked like a classic RB. Needed to change the ratio to fit him and he wasn't THAT impressive.

No difference to have Salima on the PR or any other American at any other position.  Adjust the ratio to roster him if Oliviera is out, same as they'll have to do to roster McCrae.

McCrae was no great producer in the hybrid role and they kept Amare Jones too who is similar but a better receiver.

My gut tells me they have way too much faith in Augustine.  He's fine as a gameday backup to another Canadian, but if we're starting him at RB that's just giving yourself a handicap.

Cadawallader huh. JFC. Clements Cadawallader. Gauthier or Briggs is a better option

How many wins do we get in this year’s standings for any of that? You’re not wrong. I just don’t really understand the relevance.

They are all on the roster.

The group they had last year went 15-3 and could have easily been 16-3 and won a 3rd straight grey cup with a couple made kicks... that's how.

I know you're big on younger exciting players but not like these guys were all that shaky.

Isn’t that the point we’re making though? We had these same holes last year (rotational LB and DE) and they’re only going to become a bigger issue this year as our players get older and we appear to have done absolutely nothing.
