Don't Look Back - 2022/2023 Bombers Off Season

Too soon?  Too many truly painful Grey Cup losses have taken the sting out of yesterday's loss already.

Time to look forward while we cope with the recent disappointment.

Who do we keep?  Who do we let go?  Who do we go after?

Someone was going to start this thread at some point.

that is encouraging news...I didn't realize there was a closing date. Thought he could keep waiting for camp invites right up until next summer. Here's hoping no news is good news!

he likely looking for the right opp...with a legit chance...and as mentioned here...he has a lot stacked against him.....a big thing being age.....if he doesnt get the ideal opportunity with a legit chance to be rostered on game day even as depth....I see him as a kind of guy more than happy to forge a solid career up here...making a nice 6 figure salary...

If the dates are the same as last year, Feb 8th.

Tbh if he gets an offer after the bombers will cut him and let him go as long as it’s well before camp.

The Demski "non signing" is starting to worry me......Jeez now i'm starting to sound like Noeller.......:)

Schoen: did he sign a 2 year deal? If yes then there is a definite window, al least as I recall... I do not know what may have changed with the latest players association negotiations and of course that rules

According to Geroy Simon Dillon Mitchell signed a 2 year extension with the Elks paying him $150K per season at the end of his rookie season.  I don't know if Schoen is in the same situation but it gives an idea of what might need to happen if he comes back.

The timeline is from Wikipedia.

On July 29, 2022, Mitchell signed with the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Mitchell had a strong rookie season in the CFL, finishing with 35 receptions for 637 yards and four touchdowns.  On October 25, 2022, the Elks announced agree to a two-year contract extension with Mitchell through the 2025 season.

all you need to do is a paper transaction...cut/release the guy and re-do a new FA deal

I'm sure Schoen knows which way the wind is blowing by now....He must be thinking hard about his future and most likely is entertaining some kind of security ....Considering his age and lack of workouts (at least from what we've heard) it would be a wise decision to look ahead and solidify his playing days with us, with a good contract, going forward.....hopefully

who knows if maybe a team signs him up after the Super Bowl is done....?? There's still time for something to happen, and regardless of contract, the Bombers would do the right thing by him and let him go. But......we'll see. I would imagine they'll want some kind of an idea before Feb 14, so they can know what kind of money they're working with in 2023. Whether or not Schoen is back will directly impact if they go in on Lawler.

no  doubt Kyle will let him go after the fact if something comes up....and they also know what they have to deal with for 2023 if nobody signs him down south....that being said...maybe they negotiate and extension...new deal up here if he gets no legit chances down south....and by that I mean an actual chance...not just a camp invite basically fighting to "maybe" get pr's...he's too old to develop now in NFL metrics...so he needs to go down and shoot the lights out and earn a roster spot where he gets reps in games....and thats a long shot for him...but a bonus for us and the CFL if he sticks here

After the deadline NFL teams are not allowed and won't make offers anymore. Offer has to come in before the deadline.  This was the only way the NFLPA would allow the NFL to talk to/sign players currently under contract (option year window) with the CFL. They were initially dead set against it.

I was disappointed by Keion Adams' performance. He showed very little and IMO, he will not be a priority.

i doubt he is back...I think he was more a need with experience with Hansen out ans Jeffcoat basically battling and playing with injury all yr

that O-line and DB depth is impressive....
