Bomber News: 2019 Off Season

For minor off-season Bomber news.  Any significant stories or news that are likely to generate significant discussion may have their own thread created.

Going to try going with the two threads again for the off season.    One for Bomber news, one for CFL news.   These threads should be used for general / minor day to day news, tweets, etc.  A catch all for tidbits that people want to share to keep everyone up to date on the goings and comings of the league.

Any news, tweets, and signings that is likely to generate significant discussion may have their own threads created.

I do. Win enough games so you host.

Zing!

Not what he was saying though. He (seemingly) wanted the league to cover play off expenses. That's not going to happen.

Here’s something the league needs to fix...making the playoffs and winning a playoff game COST the Bombers nearly $500,000.  That’s absurd.  Playing road playoff games is an expense for teams, it shouldn’t be.

Well if they had stayed in the East they'd have a home playoff game every year :P

I don't see anyway around that.

Needs to be a league cost.

I think the IHL used to subsidize playoff road teams to prevent bottom teams from tanking to not make the playoffs.

The problem with the expense of playoff games is that the CFL allocates a set number of playoff shares, plane tickets , hotel rooms and per diems.  It does not include coverage for injured list playoffs shares  that players are entitled to. It does not cover when teams bring extra players, staff and management to road playoff games.  The worst case scenario is the added expenses of going to the Cup and losing. Go and win and you can bring in a significant amount in Championshop merchandise....nobody wants to buy Grey Cup Finalist merch.

League wouldn’t do it. Wouldn’t benefit Toronto and montreal often enough ;)

Good one Craig!

`He should have added and "Eh?" at the end. And then go to Timmy's.

I'm getting really excited for this season to get going.

I'm picking up my season tickets today. Bought Banjo Bowl tickets for family. And, bought Labour Day Game tickets for my friends and I. It will be my first Labour Day Game.

Well, that's the life of Bryan, I guess. Funny, on paper it looked like he had all the things you would look for in a potential QB.

Sounds like maybe Kevin Anderson was better.

Tough side of the business. I'm interesting to see what else came out of our mini camp.

Bombers have inked WR Josh Steward who is in mini-camp and played a few games in the AAF.  He's 6'4 204 pounds.

Bombers have also released WR Evan Clarke, WR Dominique Williams, and RB Jalen Simmons.

Guess they're still working on some of the signings from the camp? Like that QB Anderson

Have to get down to 75 players by tomorrow

By my count after the guys they released and the one they added Winnipeg is currently sitting at 68 so I would expect a bunch more names will and can be added soon.

After the transactions today, we stand @ 69 + 2 non-counters. ( I did not count Firlotte as non-counter, not sure if he is) .

So we still have room for some players like those WRs who had a good camp last week.

-Committed to using a DI on a Returner this year

-Hopeful Charles Nelson proves to be a Day 1 starter at Rec/Ret

-Lucky Whitehead not signed yet, but hoping to get him signed before camp
-Derek Jones and Jake Thomas hopefully both start this year. Thomas took 50%+ snaps last year...have no problem with him starting at DT.

-Definite potential of starting 3 NI Rec

-2 QBs from mini-camp will hopefully be at Main Camp incl McGuire
