Biggest Rivalry in the CFL: Regina Winnipeg

So says Dave Naylor on 1290 today .... its a great way to start the season he says

Personally, I don't think Saturday's game this week is going to be any cake walk:

Regina has a game under their belt and has already started to make adjustments .... we are still getting organized

Neither do we have psychology on our side in this stadium opener ...

Regina's strength (receiving) is going up against our biggest weakness from last year as borne out by the stats (passing yardage yielded)

Jones is going to focus on exposing Hurl ... trapping him until he won't even realize whats going on

What we do have going for us is the game in the trenches and that should show up by the fourth Quarter

We also have the Kevin Glenn choke factor where a seemingly competent QB gives one up at this worst possible moment

I think we manage to eke out a strange squeaker by the tiniest of margins and I would rather be lucky than good (even as we make our own luck)

I don't believe the Blue are ready to blow anybody away just yet; but by labor day who knows...

  • I think I've literally just about had it with internet Rider fans. There are quite a number of them (CalgaryRiderFan, Beacon.x, Bingo_Arms, Huff Daddy and several others whose names just elude me righ

  • Is there a question in there somewhere? I'm often left wondering what the intended response you're aiming for is. bombers win. easily. I'm going and they'd never let me down.

  • Yep the Riders are only a quarterback, kicker, head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, a couple halfbacks, a running back, and a couple linebackers away from having a competitive tea

The Bomber secondary may or may not be vulnerable to an aggressive passing attack. The Rider receivers look to be pretty good and last season was not a good one for the Bomber secondary overall, but Kevin Glenn should not strike fear into the hearts of the Bomber defence. Still, I am still suspicious of Richie Hall's coaching.

To be honest... I really could not care less what another fan base thinks of our football team... let them think they're better... it makes it that much more fun when discussing after the game...

Muamba leaving practice, returning the next day and then leaving makes me think he might miss the game or be limited.

We were 2nd or at worst 3rd best in points given up last year..so kind of discredits too that we were weak..sure we gave up yards but generally kept teams off the board better than most

Didn't you know that was only because of all of the turnovers that we aren't going to be able to get again this year?

Dang it I forgot about that!!

Crappy defences rarely force turn-overs...especially crappy ones with the top returning ball hawks who are going to benefit from increased pressure on the quarterback all coming back....guess we are screwed

They intercepted a boatload of balls. The issue was the pash rush, which led to opposing QBs getting lots of time to make their reads, which led to a lot of yards given up through the air. Hopefully, the pass rush is vastly improved this season and that should only benefit a ball-hawking secondary.

It's Kevin Glenn in game one for Winnipeg, I mean come on, he is going to complete a lot of short **** against us, but he's also going to soft serve up some passes that will get picked off, it's just what he does at this stage in his career. So I expect the Bombers to give up lots of yards but to take the ball away and not give up as many points as the stats might lead one to believe.

Jones said they're still planning to start a Canadian LB .. so either Francis the former WR or Judge the special teams guy who signed a week ago.

Good. Can't stand Henoc.

Why?

Man if it's Judge they are hooped....well they are with Francis too actually

But Judge wasn't starter material in University, has had a week to get into game shape..CFL game shape that is plus learn the nuances of the Canadian game...be able to recognize things under fire, get used to angles, benchmarks..a lot of the little things most don't realize coming from U.S ball to Canadian ball??

Good luck with that.

And if Jones does start him over Francis it truly shows how clueless he is.

Now, as 17to85 and I were just discussing, I wanna believe this is going to be an awesome beat down by the Bombers, but there's still that little part of me that's a Bombers fan who's seen some **** over the years, and has seen this exact situation bite us in the ass before. Games we should win handily, and still we find a way to lose, because we can't have nice things.....

Who do they even have in the middle if it's not going to be Muamba?

Rider Nation too now has a built in excuse for the throttling...That if not for key injuries they would have beat us....tho I guess lack of depth doesn't factor in with their thinking.

I get the cautious approach,  but honestly I would be feeding the ball to Harris all day long (with 1 td toss to denmark so I avoid a 2nd strike in the lock of the week)

hell i'd even throw a dual run threat of Harris and Flanders just to gas the defence by half

I don't think they have a true Middle Linebacker type to be honest.

Robb Bagg's turn to get coverted to defense by Jones?

I guess it's either Judge or Bartlett.

I don't see a MLB type on their practice roster either. Muamba being hurt is probably the worst possible injury they could have right now.

No they probably will covert their only actual running back in Marshall to fill it...he built like one so Jones probably be sold on that

Although they could bring back Jordan Reaves...he hasn't been tried out there for them yet.

Forgot about Bartlett, but he is in the same boat as Judge, and truthfully they aren't starts in the waiting anyway.

Judge was a wasted 2nd over all pick if you ask me...he should have been a late 2nd rounder at best...measurables are just that...measurables

I wouldn't use a first rounder on a career special teams guy who only had 48 tackles total of his 47 game career.

A true ST terror would have had at least 3x that

I have a feeling they will go    Love      Dargan     Francis as their LB group to cover the ratio and spot.  we should be able to light that up all day long

I want the game to be a Bomber rout but I remember being at LDC 2002 for The Rocky Butler Nightmare.

I think you've got it correct.
