Bombers Training Camp 2017 - May 28

RHÉANNE M.

WINNIPEG, MB., May 11, 2017 –  The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has invited Winnipeg Rifles wide receivers Xander Tachinski (#73) and Brendan Naujoks (#74), running back Michael Ritchott (#76), and defensive back Andrew Ricard (#77) to take part in the club’s three-day rookie camp commencing Wednesday, May 24. The players will continue with the team through the first part of the main training camp.

Tachinski and Ritchott attended part of last season’s rookie camp, and most recently played in their third and fourth years with the Rifles, respectively. Naujoks and Ricard have both spent three seasons with the Rifles.

“The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have continued to try to invest in the growth of younger football players within Manitoba,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “This will be a great experience for all of them to be on the field with professional players, and to continue to grow as athletes.”

Quarterbacks and CFL newcomers will report to Winnipeg and will be on the field for the opening of rookie camp on Wednesday, May 24th. Veterans report on May 26th and will begin practicing on May 28th.

The Blue Bombers will play two pre-season games:  June 10th at Mosaic Stadium in Regina against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and June 15th at Investors Group Field against the Edmonton Eskimos.

Thought he played for the Bisons last year

He did and missed basically the whole season due to injury. I can't see him sticking here.

Because he's got a slight limp? I mean ... that seems a bit hasty.

Cut the leg off and keep going. If Richards isn't willing to become an amputee to make the team, just what kind of character guy is he??

Didn't he have hip surgery a couple years ago?  I just can't see how he lasts if he's not healthy for camp

Tall skinny but has some wheels for a long-legger, worth a look.

215 pounds isn't skinny for 6'4.

Thanks to all of you attending camp and providing insight and observations.  Love this time of the year.

Speaking of Rock puns, are their rules around the "music" played?  For example, could they play "Do you smell what the Rock is cooking" if/when Roc makes an INT?  I was always waiting for the Jets to play "Im Buff and Im the stuff" when Buff laid a guy out but they never did.  (Maybe for the best).  I think Carolina does (or did) play Ric Flair Wooooo'ing when they score... And Tampa uses Hogan (is it Tampa)?

Well, there is the Simon and Garfunkle 60's song.

Some people are just not cut out for contact sports. Maybe he ought to take up competitive crocheting.

There was a league BOG meeting where they decided to do away with the first round of cuts. There's just one round now, closer to start of season...

Unreal on Richard's injury.   How can this kid be this fragile.  Makes no sense.
