'Nation's Report Card' Shows Decline in Reading Scores, Record Decline In Math

"All the students, regardless of their ability, are dropping," the commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics warned.
Students across the U.S. have fallen behind in both math and reading in the past three years, illuminating the drastic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress exams released Monday.

The exams, often called the “Nation’s Report Card,” sampled about 450,000 fourth and eighth graders in more than 10,000 schools across the country between January and March. The last exams were administered in 2019, just before the beginning of the pandemic and a widespread transition to virtual learning.
In the past three years, math scores showed the steepest declines ever reported by NAEP since its initial trial assessment in 1990, according to Peggy Carr, commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics. Eighth graders’ scores sank by eight points since 2019. Fourth graders’ scores were slightly better, but still declined in 41 states. Just 36% of fourth graders were considered proficient in math, compared to 41% in 2019.

Soon every state will be a RED state. Illiterate and poor.

Trump Tapes Reveal He's 'Dangerous' And 'A Threat To Democracy,' Bob Woodward Warns

Legendary Watergate journalist Bob Woodward sounded the alarm on former President Donald Trump Sunday, releasing eight hours of interview recordings he says show the ex-president as a serious “threat to democracy.”

Trump was “just the wrong man for the job,” Woodward told host John Dickerson on “CBS Sunday Morning,” referring to Trump’s presidency.
“He’s not just the wrong man for the job,” Woodward added. “He’s dangerous, and he is a threat to democracy — and he’s a threat to the presidency because he doesn’t understand the core obligations that come with that office.”

Woodward used the 20 recorded interviews with Trump for his 2020 book “Rage.” Now he’s releasing the tapes separately in “The Trump Tapes: Bob Woodward’s Twenty Interviews with President Donald Trump.”

“Trump is an unparalleled danger,” Woodward wrote in a Washington Post essay adapted from the new audiobook. “When you listen to him on the range of issues from foreign policy to the virus to racial injustice, it’s clear he did not know what to do. Trump was overwhelmed by the job. He was largely disconnected from the needs and leadership expectations of the public and his absolute self-focus became the presidency."

Bob Woodward, another to add to the growing pile of ‘besides writing a book, why didn’t you do anything about this **** face?’

Fettermen had a real tough debate last night not because Dr. Oz was a better debater or hit home runs with his points of view, but because it's obvious that he has not come all the way back from his stroke and he is struggling but kudos that he is trying his hardest. McCain needs to remember that her father was sick but still carried out his duties. As for this idiot I'm mean come on is being an imbecile a disease.

Stroke victims often do recover most of their faculties, but for most it takes time for the neural pathways to be rewired. Ms. McCain may be one of the most moderate-appearing GOPers, but she is far from a big fans of democracy. Her voting record puts well to the right of center.

Poached this sentence from an opinion piece by Ryan Coogan on Kanye West:

. . . we’re currently living in a cultural moment where espousing far-right rhetoric is “just another side to the conversation”.

I think he's being kind by labelling it 'far-right rhetoric'.

Steve Bannon says Republicans will teach Democrats a lesson 'by bayonet'

White nationalist and twice-convicted felon Steve Bannon told Kash Patel – who served as chief of staff to the acting secretary of defense under former President Donald Trump – that Republicans are going to go after Democrats "with a bayonet" if the GOP wins majorities in the United States House of Representatives and the Senate in the November midterm elections.

WashingtonCNN —

Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was attacked with a hammer at the couple’s home in San Francisco by a male assailant early Friday morning, law enforcement sources tell CNN.

Pelosi, 82, is expected to make a full recovery, the Democratic speaker’s office said in a statement.

Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Nancy Pelosi, said the assailant is in custody and a motive is being investigated. The speaker was in Washington at the time of the attack, a spokesperson said.

The Pelosis have been married since 1963 and have five children.

This story is breaking and will be updated.

Looking at the other extreme, what would be an example of far-left rhetoric?

Burn down capitalism? Defund the Police?

I believe that the far-left is extreme socialism... everybody help everyone else and bring everybody up... sounds dangerous.

Scary stuff. Take care of one another.

I believe this type of inflammatory rhetoric can be traced back to a rabble-roused by the name of Yeshua Ben-Yusof, who said outrageous things like "Love your neighbour as yourself" and "whatever you do to the least of these, my children, you do unto me". If He was alive now, He would surely be in prison or killed.

Oh and I've already done my research on this, Antifa is responsible for this attack to frame the Christ driven MAGA movement.

As an aside, very “interesting” pictures they chose for each person. Although the statement is neutral and a simple fact, void of opinion or slant, the photos seem to suggest a villain and a victim, no?

The subliminal power of the media.

this is astounding.

the nazis that almost succeeded in kidnapping wittmer , are being convicted, and sentenced.

Wonder how far this will go?

really frightening.

didnt read how the nazi got near pelosi, but...

This incident supports my thinking in spite of everything that has happened, since Trump,

the people in power, in the States, Biden, Nancy, Schumer, et al,

just have not grasped the seriousness of the situation. They just dont seem to get it, viscerally.

They seem to think that proceeding with polite, orderly hearings, will take care of the problem. making smart ass comments to the press now and then.

it might be beyond their comprehension.

There will be violence during the mid terms and the media will have a field day trying to explain that this is not what America stands for but they are wrong that's exactly what America stands for now and it's not going to get any better any time soon. Republicans are coming after the Democrats after they take the house and the Democrats are meekly going around with the golly gee everything will be okay attitude. How can any country that says they are civilized let people in tactical gear with guns walk around in public and think they are the greatest country in the world.
