Greg Abbott’s Solution To School Shootings: Send DNA Kits Home to Parents to ID Their Kids’ Bodies

In Greg Abbott’s Republican Texas, public schools sent kids home with a DNA kit so their parents could identify them after a mass shooting or other emergency.

“The state of Texas is sending public school students home with DNA kits designed to help their parents identify their children ‘in case of an emergency.'” Today reported.  "After the mass shooting in Uvalde, the kits are making many parents feel even more anxious about sending their children to school,” they open.

The kits are for K-8 level, and for the purpose of: “if law enforcement were to need help finding a missing or trafficked child, or identifying victims of mass shootings,” Reform Austin reported.

Furthermore: “When you put it in the light of Uvalde, it’s one of the most macabre things you could think about,” said Bob Sanborn, president of the nonprofit Children at Risk.

Parents of the children killed at Robb Elementary had to provide DNA samples to help identify their slain children, due to the amount of bodily harm done by the AR-style rifle used in the massacre.

A Uvalde student was just arrested Monday evening after making a shooting threat, a mere four plus months after the May 24th massacre that killed 19 students and 2 teachers.

Jan 6. committee can't find a Trump lawyer that will accept service of subpoena: report

The report comes days after a judge cracked down on Trump's effort to dodge service of a New York fraud lawsuit. The House Jan. 6 committee voted to subpoena former President Donald Trump last week but investigators are still trying to find someone authorized to accept service of it, according to ABC News.

The subpoena was introduced by the panel's vice chair, Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who called Trump the riot's "central player." All nine members of the panel voted to approve the resolution.

The panel's chair, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., acknowledged the move as a "serious and extraordinary action" but said that the committee had an "obligation" to hear from Trump.

New York Judge Blocks State Ban On Guns In Places Of Worship.  The judge said allowing people to carry guns in places of worship “would serve the public interest of fostering self-defense" in those spaces across the state.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday temporarily blocked the part of a New York state law that makes it a crime for people to carry guns in places of worship.

U.S. District Judge John Sinatra Jr. sided with two Buffalo-area clerics joined by two gun rights organizations who had sued and sought a temporary restraining order to stop the enforcement of the law while the case proceeds.
The two sides are scheduled to argue the matter in court on Nov. 3 as Sinatra weighs whether to go further and issue a preliminary injunction.

New York lawmakers rewrote the state’s gun laws last summer after the U.S. Supreme Court invalidated the state’s old system of granting permits to carry handguns outside the home. Among the provisions of the new law was a ban on guns in places of worship and other locations deemed “sensitive.”

In his ruling, Sinatra held that the state didn’t demonstrate that the restriction comported with the Supreme Court’s ruling in June, and wrote that allowing people to carry guns in places of worship “would serve the public interest of fostering self-defense at places of worship across the state.”

Without it, Sinatra wrote, “the law creates a vulnerable population of attendees at places of worship left to the whims of potential armed wrongdoers who are uninterested in following the law in any event.”

He is just going to flush it down the toilet, Trump will never go in front of the 1/6 committee

1/6 Committee Levels Reeling Trump With Subpoena That Acts As A Damning Indictment

The House January 6th Committee subpoenaed Donald J Trump for his “deliberate, orchestrated effort to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and block the transfer of presidential power” on Friday, October 21 — the same date as Steve Bannon became the first person in history to be sent to prison for contempt of Congress.

“In short, you were at the center of the first and only effort by any U.S. President to overturn an election and obstruct the peaceful transition of power, ultimately culminating in a bloody attack on our own Capitol and on the Congress itself,” the Committee wrote in their letter."

Trump has until November 4 to produce the requested documents and must appear for his deposition testimony “beginning on or about November 14.”

After a unanimous vote of the Select Committee, Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and Vice Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) announced the committee had issued a subpoena to former President Donald Trump for “testimony under oath and records relevant to the Select Committee’s investigation into the attack on the January 6th on the United States Capitol and its causes,” the Committee shared above their letter to Trump.

Chairman Thompson and Vice Chair Cheney cited Trump’s personal involvement in orchestrating and overseeing the effort to overturn the 2020 election:

“As demonstrated in our hearings, we have assembled overwhelming evidence, including from dozens of your former appointees and staff, that you personally orchestrated and oversaw a multi-part effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election and to obstruct the peaceful transition of power.”

Trump did this even though, as the Committee proved throughout its hearings, he was unable to substantiate his claims of fraud in the courts and the DOJ, his own campaign staff and senior advisors told him he lost the election.

“You took all of these actions despite the rulings of more than 60 courts rejecting your election fraud claims and other challenges to the legality of the 2020 presidential election, despite having specific and detailed information from the Justice Department and your senior campaign staff informing you that your election claims were false, and despite your obligation as President to ensure that the laws of our nation are faithfully executed. In short, you were at the center of the first and only effort by any U.S. President to overturn an election and obstruct the peaceful transition of power, ultimately culminating in a bloody attack on our own Capitol and on the Congress itself.”

Knowing that Trump deems himself above the law and above having to comply with requirements others are expected to meet, they added that many other presidents have had to testify before Congress after they left office, because as President Roosevelt said, “an ex-President is merely a citizen of the United States, like any other citizen, and it is his plain duty to try to help this committee or respond to its invitation.”

“Former Presidents John Quincy Adams, John Tyler, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Herbert Hoover, Harry Truman, and Gerald Ford each testified before Congress after they left office. President Roosevelt explained during his congressional testimony, ‘an ex-President is merely a citizen of the United States, like any other citizen, and it is his plain duty to try to help this committee or respond to its invitation.’ Even sitting Presidents, including Abraham Lincoln and Gerald Ford, also testified before Congress. Further, both former and sitting presidents including Presidents Nixon, Tyler, and Quincy Adams, have provided evidence in response to congressional subpoenas.”

Donald Trump is the first and only president to refuse to accept the rejection of the voters. He chose to incite a terrorist attack upon his own country by seizing power through violence in an attempted self-coup.

All signs point to Trump being no longer to bluster, deflect and bribe his way out of trouble. There are a lot of e sharks are circling and there is blood in the water.

His M.O. has always been to choke legal proceedings with delay and exhaust his opponent in legal costs until they settle for pennies on the dollar with a non-disclosure agreement. He didn’t realize that the Government has much deeper pockets and essentially unlimited resources at its disposal and can out wait him. And they seem in no mood to cut him a deal at this point.

Prosecutors cut deals in only two circumstances- when their case is too weak to ensure a victory and when the accused can give them bigger fish. Neither of these seem to be present.

If Trump runs in 2024, it's likely he'll choose Marjorie Taylor Greene as running mate

A New York Times reporter confirmed rumors that Donald Trump is considering Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) as his running mate, should he launch a 2024 presidential campaign.

Robert Draper, who writes for The New York Times Magazine, told The Daily Beast's "New Abnormal" podcast that Greene had risen quickly in her first term in Congress by using the same tactics she honed as a right-wing social media influencer harassing Democratic staffers, and she could shoot to the second-highest office in government.

"Republicans kind of wanted to kick her to the curb immediately," said Draper, author of the new book Weapons of Mass Delusion: When the Republican Party Lost Its Mind. "But instead she became a fundraising dynamo, came to have this huge social media influence, and ultimately came to be very influential within the party itself."

Draper confirmed that Trump has been actively discussing Greene as his No. 2 since February, and while the former president has probably discussed other candidates, as well, the Georgia Republican brings something to the table that could push her over the top.

"She has been unflaggingly loyal to Trump throughout," Draper said. "What is Trump concerned about most of all in a VP after the Mike Pence experience? Loyalty. He knows that if he needs someone to fight for him to overturn a presidential election. He has every reason to expect that Greene would be by his side and would be his proximate warrior."

Dumb and Dumber, America continues it's spiral into stupidity as Trump finds someone who is more of a imbecile than him. Truly bottom of the barrel

I’m not as confident as you. It’s been proven over and over again the Justice system is broken. It’s not a system, it’s just a bunch of parts bumping into each other that allows way to much control and influence by individuals hiding behind fluff words while doing the opposite. It’s basically comes down to relying on the honour system.

Nothing of substance has happened to Trump and his band of lunatics, supporters and lurkers in the shadows. Nothing. And to make matters worse, we get knuckle draggers on this site gaslighting away, thinking they are being clever and owning the libtards, wokesters, radical leftists everywhere.

Trump Stashed 'Highly Sensitive' China, Iran Missile Intel At Mar-A-Lago: Report

Details about Iran’s missile program and American intelligence work aimed at China were among the most “highly sensitive” information Donald Trump had stashed at his Mar-a-Lago compound, The Washington Post reported Friday.

Had the intelligence been shared with or acquired by other people it could have laid bare U.S. intelligence-gathering methods. The identities of American spies could have been exposed and their lives’ endangered, and U.S. intelligence-gathering systems compromised.

Yet the sensitive information was stored in a resort that drew hundreds of unscreened members and guests to parties, fundraisers and wedding receptions at a facility maintained by unscreened groundskeepers and cleaners. One of the storage areas for documents Trump took to Mar-a-Lago from the White House was reportedly easily accessible near a pool open to all members.

At least one document seized by the FBI in August describes Iran’s missile program, sources told the Post. Other documents reportedly described highly sensitive intelligence work involving China.

“The exceptional sensitivity of these documents, and the reckless exposure of invaluable sources and methods of U.S. intelligence capabilities concerning these foreign adversaries, will certainly influence the Justice Department’s determination of whether to charge Mr. Trump or others with willful retention of national defense information under the Espionage Act,” David Laufman, a former senior official of the Justice Department, told the Post.

Mar-a-Lago has been considered a “spy magnet” by intelligence experts — both during and after Trump’s term as president.

Well if that analogy is accurate, would not checkmate come a lot sooner? Bull **** analogy.

Trump Tapes Reveal He's 'Dangerous' And 'A Threat To Democracy,' Bob Woodward Warns

Legendary Watergate journalist Bob Woodward sounded the alarm on former President Donald Trump Sunday, releasing eight hours of interview recordings he says show the ex-president as a serious “threat to democracy.”

Trump was “just the wrong man for the job,” Woodward told host John Dickerson on “CBS Sunday Morning,” referring to Trump’s presidency.
“He’s not just the wrong man for the job,” Woodward added. “He’s dangerous, and he is a threat to democracy — and he’s a threat to the presidency because he doesn’t understand the core obligations that come with that office.”

Woodward used the 20 recorded interviews with Trump for his 2020 book “Rage.” Now he’s releasing the tapes separately in “The Trump Tapes: Bob Woodward’s Twenty Interviews with President Donald Trump.”

“Trump is an unparalleled danger,” Woodward wrote in a Washington Post essay adapted from the new audiobook. “When you listen to him on the range of issues from foreign policy to the virus to racial injustice, it’s clear he did not know what to do. Trump was overwhelmed by the job. He was largely disconnected from the needs and leadership expectations of the public and his absolute self-focus became the presidency."

'Nation's Report Card' Shows Decline in Reading Scores, Record Decline In Math

"All the students, regardless of their ability, are dropping," the commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics warned.
Students across the U.S. have fallen behind in both math and reading in the past three years, illuminating the drastic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress exams released Monday.

The exams, often called the “Nation’s Report Card,” sampled about 450,000 fourth and eighth graders in more than 10,000 schools across the country between January and March. The last exams were administered in 2019, just before the beginning of the pandemic and a widespread transition to virtual learning.
In the past three years, math scores showed the steepest declines ever reported by NAEP since its initial trial assessment in 1990, according to Peggy Carr, commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics. Eighth graders’ scores sank by eight points since 2019. Fourth graders’ scores were slightly better, but still declined in 41 states. Just 36% of fourth graders were considered proficient in math, compared to 41% in 2019.
