  1. Pretty sure? Let's see the quote then. I swear I read that too -- one of the earlier Freep interviews (not the later one)? -- shouldn't be hard to check, if someone has the Google chops. I thought I remembered him actually saying that in the press conference video with him and Walters when he was hired. I will look it up now.
  2. Please name one player who has improved under Burke's watch. Exactly. Even crappy players can show some sign of improvement when they have a good coach. This team is showing none. Why would you want to play for someone who bashes you all the time?
  3. I'm the same. I'd start off as: Then I'd be like... Followed up with a big fat...
  4. That's what I was thinking myself. Miller's quotes didn't sound like he was totally behind Walters starting even though Lawless was fluffing Walters cushions. Lawless reminds me of a guy that just wants people to fail so that he can bash them at a later date.
  5. He hasn't done anything to win it either. Seriously though. We just went through this with LaPolice, Burke, Crowton, Mack, etc... Why are some of you ready to accept yet another rookie to do the job that we need a veteran to do? You're going to be the same people next year complaining that "Why oh why did we give Walters the job?...Why do the bombers keep hiring these rookie's?". Why are you ok with this when all it's done is bring us to failure in the past? You guys make me laugh.
  6. Yeah, Lawless is on glue. As great as Walters may be, I personally don't want some rookie GM to come in and "try" to do what he thinks is best. I'd prefer a proven guy like Higgins. We need someone who's made winning teams at both GM and HC. The Bombers just shouldn't be taking any chances right now. I don't think they can afford it.
  7. In what universe did you figure that out? His OC record with the Roughriders was 29-25 from 2003-2005. He wasn't an OC again until the Ticats grabbed him in 2008, and then that was only for half a season until he was upgraded to HC. As HC of the Ticats he went 27-35. So how you get that he was better as a HC then an OC I have no idea. I'd say he was pretty equal as both considering the first year with the Ticats he inherited crap. I have to agree, he's mediocre, and this team needs a true winner that can turn things around.
  8. And that's what most real football players care about. It's about the money, but their wanting to just play...and of course win...is huge. Most players have to be torn away by injury or something till it finally kicks in that they need to stop playing. It's addictive to most athletes.
  9. I know JPan has said that he mis-read the tweet so this is probably a moot point, but this kind of thinking will bankrupt the Bombers, and your unwavering support to the Bombers here is misguided. Any business that doesn't care about its customers will lose them in the long run. You think people need the Bombers in the summer? No. There is plenty to do in this town (and out of town with cottages) that peoople don't NEED the Bombers. The so called dedicated fan base is already starting to erode. Fan apathy is already at an all time high .... and that is with people on this board. Imagine how the average fan feels. No business can take their paying customers for granted. To suggest that it is okay for the to do so because "they are the only game in town" is ridiculous, even if someone is being "uncouth". People have limited dollars to spend for the whole year. Are they going to spend it with the Jets, where they get fan satisfaction and fan experience or the Bombers, where lately they have had one blunder after another. I will continue to support the organization, buy my season tickets, but many fans will not. This organization has a lot of good will to win back in the community. Rich is totally correct. You have to treat customers with respect. If not, go look for a new job. People are going to be miserable to you, but if you learn how to handle it properly, you can turn their attitude right around.
  10. please pleaaaaaaaase tell me you career path doesnt involve stand up comedy.. To be honest people I know go on and on about my sense of humour. It is second only to my crazy good looks. Sometimes at parties it gets a little much, hearing how funny and handsome I am all night but I have gotten used to it after all these years. LOL...now that's funny.
  11. I think it's closer to half a decade no? Exactly, it's only been 5 years. It's not like the whole football scene has changed much in 5 years. ...well, except for in Winnipeg.
  12. I'm thinking most people here like Collaros because he's shown a lot of potential in a small period of time compared to some of the other QB's in the league aside from BLM. Reilly was similar last year except he played fewer games. Collaros has shown he has what it takes. With proper coaching, he could go really far. Your last sentence scares me a bit. Trust me...I'm with you there. Can you all say "QB Coach"? I knew you could.
  13. He's going to command starter money. And to those who ask "why would we pay it", why wouldn't we? He absolutely deserves starter money. He'd be signing here to be our starter, no sense in pissing around and trying to play the nickel and dime game. Pay the man and get him here. We can't afford not to. Agreed. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just being foolish. Reilly was the same way last year, and look where that got him. Ottawa and Winnipeg will be battling for him. I wouldn't doubt if Hamilton gets in the mix as well.

  15. Haha, yeah I'd like that too but, you know....good luck.
  16. True. I think whatever talent we had on this team is regressing. After so many defeats your confidence and self-esteem are just so beaten down that you end up playing crappier and crappier as time goes on. They need new winning leadership that will inspire them and get their confidence back up... ...plus a few really good players wouldn't hurt.
  17. So apparently 30% of Winnipeggers are utterly nuts! WHERE IS THIS!??! I need to go vote now!
  18. Sounds like he's channelling the spirit of Joe Mack...the spirit, or the ineptitude...one of the two. Seriously, that comment sounds like he's trying to sidetrack the fact that he lost a 2nd round pick. It's like "aw, the second round picks were **** anyway, so I thought I'd just throw this in for good measure". I'm losing faith in this guy quick. He's trying to make trades just to appease the fans. "Oh look everyone...he's doing something...he got rid of Buck (for a shitty receiver) and now he got us a second rate Olineman...WOOHOO...he's teh Aw3s0mE!!!ONE1111". So far, the only person he's brought in that seems to be worth ANYTHING is Kelly. Foster, Boltus, Sims-Walker, DeAngelis...all crap. And how many NFL cuts stuck around, other then Sims-Walker?
  19. I'm not part of the "I love Walters" fan club. I'm not saying he's bad, I just don't think he's ready no matter how hard he tries. And if they keep Tim Burke next season, they can say goodbye to this fan having any passion for our team for the whole season, because I just can't see him getting any better. The calls he's made all season long on the field have given me so many WTF moments, that's it beyond ridiculous. I'd even rather have Reinbold here then Burke. Reinbold might have sucked as a coach, but at least he had the passion for winning and never gave up. I don't care how much lip service Burke gives upper management, if they hire him again next year will be a disaster. If they decide to keep him on and he miraculously turns this into a winning team, I'll eat so much crow my ass will explode. But I just can't see it happening. The guy would just much rather try not to lose then win. And we need a coach that has the heart of a winner. One who does his best and inspires his team. Not someone who looks like he's a deer in the headlights on the sidelines while watching his team die a slow death. And for sure not someone who blames all of his players for losing this whole season. After all, he was only dealt a bad hand by Mack...so what ever is a little coach to do when all he has whole bunch of suck to work with? (emoticon for those who don't realize the last sentence was sarcasm)
  20. Just an innocent mistate? Of course you won't make the trade NOW, but you can start negotiating NOW. In fact it's probably the prudent thing to do. ] Who says their not negotiating? Do you really think they're going to broadcast to all of us every plan they might be scheming? I think they are and no they shouldn't broadcast. Nor did I mean to imply that they should. Yeah I know...I was just trying to sound all tough when I said that. Nanoo nanoo
  21. I've only been to two games but both times were were just across the street from the stadium, perhaps a 3 minute walk. You must have had a different colour pass. Was it a season pass? Curious, where were your seats? Gold pass here. Same three minute walk and no more than 15 minutes home. Parking has been a breeze since the preseason game. Man that time keeps getting shorter and shorter every time you tell it to me. I think last week you told me it was 20 minutes...now it's 15. If you don't slow your pace you're going to be at 30 seconds soon and all your credibility will be out the window. ...*cough*... ...did I mention I switched offices and you won't be able to find me tomorrow...

  23. HEY! Don't go throwing logic and the original topic into this discussion. Good day sir... ....I SAID GOOD DAY!
  24. I'm with ISO on Higgins. He's top priority. And you gotta spend money to make money. If you cheap out and they don't produce, you'll lose more fanbase. This town needs someone that will razzle dazzle the Bombers into a winning team. We've already taken chances and it hasn't worked. We need a few years of stability before trying that out again.
