as per Kirk Penton and Gary Lawless.

Very interesting.

  • But you said players want to go to a winner...not to Winnipeg. I guess Westerman was just a fluke too. And now you're changing the parameters. Naughty, naughty.  Sounds like you're rationalizing,

  • Bullshit. Winnipeg has plenty of bargaining chips. As we've heard over and over, the stadium itself is a huge draw. I believe the coaches, to a degree, are a draw. Then we heard from Westerman last ye

  • Lol at the Nicholls comment...  I'm pretty sure if he backed up any other team he would be one injury away from starting.    Hurl - Toronto Bryant - Multiple teams made offers to him. M

Let us not forget Calgary actually has the ability to recruit import receivers and they already have a decent group of guys. Also factor in the North Dakota part...

With Chick..maybe be wants to be close to home and his family?

Thirdly Dresslers age is a factor? Isn't Denmark older then him? When is 30 over the hill for receiver?

Dressler is older than Denmark by like 3 months

A short 4 to 6 hour drive for his family to visit or a plane trip to Calgary? This has to be factored in the Bomber's favour ...

With the strength and conditioning coaches that are available to these guys, 30 is still young for a receiver.

Hopefully Walters holds his ground and doesn't fall for any of Dressler's agents shenanigans.  Signing him would be great but not at any cost.

Cory Watson was a rookie at 26 years old.

Milt Stegall scored 108 regular season TDs after his 30th birthday (Jan 2000).

One of those players was broken down at 30 years old and the other one is the best receiver in CFL history.

You're calling Cory Watson one of the best receivers in CFL history???     (lol)

i was gonna say milt also started wearing body armor under his jersey too after that rib injury he suffered. the guy was pretty much S.W.A.T

Has Dressler signed with Calgary yet? And where can I get my tar and feathers ... on the march to IGF or beforehand? ;)

Small receivers, small DB's...yes, yes!

Does that quote make anyone else think Dressler is using the Bombers offer as leverage for more money from a team like Calgary?

Isn't this what every free agent does?

Dressler also grew up in North Dakota.

True, but he never really grew up much.

I am thinking it means the Bombers are either not his first pick to play for, or that our offer is the highest but Dressler is surprised he couldn't get more and is waiting for someone to pony up.

I thought I heard it last night in H&L that the Bombers offer has a deadline.

Maybe Dressler will just max the time waiting until that deadline.

Going to either Calgary or Winnipeg is the best case scenario. Either way the gappers are going to be pitch a fit.

Why would Dressler panic and be pushed into a deal . Good on the Bombers for players big a little poker and not being leveraged  into him getting more money there or elsewhere. You need to set a budget for what you truly believe someone is worth and hold fast. Huff does it in Calgary , that might work to Wpg advantage on this deal. The challenge will be if it is solely about the dollars for Dressler.

Maybe waiting for Henoc to finalize the details of a cross-country tour???

Any thoughts on what the price tag may be for Dressler?  I believe he was making in the area of $240K in Sask.

I would guess he would be in the $180k - $220k range

Anything over 175k i would pass on Dressler i'm sure we can find a couple of receivers if there not happy with what they have coming back plus we have more pressing concerns at ol, dl and rb.

Im thinking 190K with incentive to make 220

Not sure what he's going to make but I don't know how anyone could say they would balk at him as "x" price that isn't well outside the normal salary landscape. You're going to pass on him over 10-15k without knowing any of our other financial details?
